Isekai Journey Of The Magic Archer-Chapter 1145: Some fights are inevitable
[OP: ]
"Alf, I think you’re using too much of your Mana on those spells. You don’t really have to cast them all just to deal with a few of those dolls." Carla and Alf were training in a secluded training room today.
And, it seemed like there was some disagreement between them over something.
"Hmm? What do you mean by that?"
Just like their everyday routine, on this fine morning, they were doing their morning training. They were fighting against the artificial training dummies that were available in these training areas.
They had set the level of these training dummies on ’Hard’ difficulty which was higher than the usual Normal difficulty that they usually used.
They weren’t yet used to this kind of difficulty considering the kind of output generated by these dolls, but they were doing the best they could… they weren’t fighting together though.
This was an individual training session that they were doing side by side so that they could check each other’s techniques and correct each other if there was something they thought was not right nor needed improvement.
"Those dummies are not that strong. You might be using a six spell combination thinking they have a high outer shell, but that is not the case. You can deal with them if you use only three or four of your spells. You just have to concentrate on the outcome-."
"Woah, woah. Wait, sister Carry. What are you even talking about??"
Alfred could not understand what she was saying all of a sudden.
They were fighting training dummies on a high level. They were not used to this, but Alf already knew he needed a high enough power output to deal with them.
They were strong. Not only did they possess a high level of outer defense, the way they moved, the way they mimicked their own movements and came up with a completely new strategy to defeat them, to how they changed their own characteristics to meet the opponent’s skill level was something unheard of.
They weren’t your usual artificial training dummies that simply had one function. They weren’t simply made by a dwarf or a great craftsman. This was something far beyond that.
It was as if something from a completely different world altogether.
It not only challenged their understanding of magic engineering it also demonstrated just what great length technology could go.
"It’s just as I said. You’re being inefficient."
The tower they were in right now belonged to Eon’s master, so it was pretty obvious that she was the one that made these beings, these artificial training dolls.
They already knew how Eon used to train with them on this higher difficulty level when he was much younger. There were six difficulty levels in total, and they were only on the second one, making the actual difficulty of these dummies much worse than even regular knights or mages.
"Listen, if you just concentrate your spells, you will slice through them better." Carla was using a unique looking sword, but it seemed like she was tired right now.
She was covered in sweat, the Aura that she possessed was oozing out like vapor, and she obviously did not seem to be fine right now.
"Haaa…" but then she took out a certain blue potion bottle from her storage device and gulped it down in one go.
"You’re using them a lot nowadays. It’s not all that good." Alf did not like how she relied on the potions to stay well.
It certainly helped them train for longer, and heal their wounds faster, but it wasn’t all that good. Even if the potions that Eon gave them did not have as many side effects as the potions that the other alchemists might produce, they were still not devoid of all side effects.
"It’s fine. He said we can use three a day. This is my first one today." Carla seemed to have recovered completely right after taking that one potion, but she only looked well.
Her fatigue and a little stamina might have recovered, but she had not recovered completely. Her muscles had still not recovered, but she did not care much about them.
"You’re going to do the same thing you did yesterday as well, aren’t you? Taking the blue one after getting fatigued and pushing yourself to the brink of breaking so that you can take the red one?
Do you think grandpa will just keep watching for long? You know it’s not good either, right?"
To get stronger, she was taking the help of the supplements that were available in the tower.
She was eating well, she was eating a lot, she was eating healthy, and she was eating frequently.
All she did aside from training and breaking her body, was to eat and sleep. When they were training, she used potions of different kinds in certain combinations to train for longer and to squeeze out the best results out of her– which wasn’t a good thing.
Alf did not like how she did it. And this was not the first time he had told her that.

"What’s wrong with this? Eon said it’s fine… besides, I get better results with these.
Don’t you see? My Aura output increased, I can cut down these dummies better now. If I can just increase my physical strength a little more, I will be able to express my sword techniques more efficiently."
She did not see anything wrong with this. She knew what she was doing was not right, but it was helping her a lot.
In the last few days ever since she started using the potions like these, she had noticed a visible improvement in her strength.
Her endurance had increased as well, and she could use her sword more flexibly.

She did not think she would see so much improvement, so this was definitely great. She wasn’t going to stop doing this until she got the results she had set for herself.
"I know it’s not the best method, but we don’t have much time here either, Alf. we have to get as better as we can.
You should be doing what you can to improve as well. The way you’re fighting right now is so inefficient."
She looked at him with sad eyes. She wasn’t looking down on him or anything, but if she was seeing so much improvement, she knew he would get even better results if he just lets go of his traditional mindset and uses what they have.
"Remember what Eon said about the Mana potions here? If you go into the Mana void chamber and increase your Mana pool there, you will get much better much faster.
You might even overcome the wall of (tier-4) and enter the-."
"Big sister, that’s enough." Alf cut her off midway and looked at her with a disappointed look.
He did not want to say something that would seem inappropriate so before saying anything, he just looked at her and structured the words in his mind.
And only when he had those words ready, did he open his mouth to speak up.
"I get it that you want to get stronger in the short time we have, but doing so at the cost of your future isn’t all that good, don’t you think?"
She might get stronger in a short time through these brute means, but she won’t be able to sustain the powers that she earns through these methods.
She was a swordsman and there were many better ways, many traditional ways through which she could obtain much better results.
She could even face some life and death situations, that would be much better instead of taking these potions and uselessly destroying her body.
"Hey, are you saying my training methods are wrong? Do you think you know about swords better than me?!" she shouted at him even though she did not want to.
She just couldn’t control herself at that moment.
"I’m not saying you’re wrong. You’re just overdoing it." Alf knew she did not mean anything, that she simply wanted to say something.
The louder tone was simply a misunderstanding, but even though he understood that, she did not stop.
"Are you saying what I’m doing is wrong? Really, Alfred?! Do you think you’ve become better than me or something?!"
She did not know why but she suddenly lost her cool and got impulsive.
-Oooooooong!
The Aura that was oozing out of her like vapour condensed into strong, solid Aura blades which were shot out in all directions around her.
-Swiiiiiiiiish…!
Winds started blowing as the floor was cut down by the sudden explosion of Aura blades.
"Sister!"
Thanks to his quick reaction speed, he was at least able to create a protective barrier around himself that saved him from the Aura, but his shout did not reach her.
"I’ll just prove to you that I’m not wrong!" taking out her sword, she dashed forward towards her young brother who did not mean to offend her or anything.
But, he understood the situation.
He understood how she had been under pressure for a few days, how she had been doing something she should not have, and how all of this outrage was connected to that.
But, just understanding all that did not mean anything. He also needed to stop her now that he had started attacking her.
-Clank!!
A strong clash was the first. Following that, a powerful gust of wind took over the entire training ground.
-Ooooooooong!
Her blazing Aura erupted once again, now more fierce than the previous ones.
In counter, Alf brought out his own elemental Mana.
And, seeing the clash of these two powers, those watching from beyond the balcony in the control room, nodded with a meaningful expression.
"It was inevitable."
"Definitely."
They had anticipated this.
And now that it was happening, they were ready to collect the data that they needed.
