Isekai Adventure in the Dimensional Cube-Chapter 1524 - 1065: Why Her? (2)
A tumultuous night had passed just like that.
...
The next day, early morning.
Due to the disturbances from last night, many people seemed to have not slept well, or not at all, resulting in quite a few of them yawning continuously in the Karedohart Empire’s garrison area, appearing somewhat listless.
Reiger and his companions, however, weren’t affected.
Missing just one night’s sleep was inconsequential to those with their strength, so despite the somewhat sluggish atmosphere, Reiger’s group still got up early.
But today, Quelis didn’t prepare a grand breakfast banquet, nor did he specifically invite Reiger to dine, instead breakfast was delivered to Reiger’s room.
"Did Uncle go out?"
Melo seemed to have guessed something and asked the person delivering the meal.
"Yes, due to last night’s events, Lord Quelis is still handling the aftermath and discussing with the other garrison commanders."
The person delivering the meal replied respectfully to Melo, which made Melo nod.
"Lord Quelis isn’t here?"
Reiger frowned.
He had planned to consult Quelis today, to ask him if there was any way to pass through the Nanierga Giant Wall and reach the Black Land on the other side.
But the Nanierga Giant Wall possessed immense power, not only was it extraordinarily strong in itself, but its isolation ability made passage nearly impossible. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Reiger had already tried using teleportation magic, attempting to teleport to the Black Land on the other side of the wall, but to no avail.
Forget about regular teleportation magic; even the highest level teleportation magic, [Portal], which was supposed to have a zero failure rate, was thwarted by the wall’s power, unable to open at all.
Even the spell [Unjust Game], which could swap positions, couldn’t help Reiger cross the wall; his spell power was stopped as soon as it touched the wall, unable to extend to the other side.
Obviously, trying to fly over the wall was also impossible.
Reiger hadn’t forgotten that when he first arrived at Nanierga, the endless Abyssal Aura from the Black Land looked like a gigantic beast, trying to smash through the wall or fly over from the sky, only to be blocked by the wall’s extending power.
Seeing that scene with his own eyes, Reiger even doubted that using [Ze] or [Dimensional Slash], capable of cutting through space, would be able to destroy the Nanierga Giant Wall and let him go across.
This was the strength of the so-called great defense line against the abyss, Nanierga.
Being able to withstand the abyssal invasion, guarding the Source World’s border for thousands of years, already spoke to its resilience and strength.
If it had been weaker, the abyss wouldn’t have been stopped for so many years.
The abyss had such powerful entities far exceeding those from the Source World, countless demon lords comparable to saints, each equivalent to a Lv.9 being, and even the so-called ten kings.
The Abyss Demon Lord behind the Dark Relief Center went to great lengths to send a night spirit aggregate to the Source World, supporting a major faction of abyssal followers, taking nearly a century to barely complete the goal.
This was with the demon lord’s assistance, bypassing Nanierga’s massive restrictions through summoning, fulfilling numerous harsh conditions and requirements to achieve it.
Consequently, defeating such a force, even with all of Reiger’s might, forced entry seemed unlikely.
Unless...
"Using that weapon..."
The only method Reiger could think of that might conquer Nanierga was that weapon forged by the god of forging, Hephaestos, using the world-class item "Thermal Stone" as the core material.
That weapon still remained sealed in the storage space of Reiger’s dimensional cube, never once used since its creation.
If he were to use it...
"No, that’s too dangerous."
Reiger denied the thought immediately.
He didn’t want to achieve his goals by destroying Nanierga, plunging the Source World into chaos.
Given this, Reiger had no choice but to consult Quelis, planning to find some method from him to cross Nanierga and enter the Black Land.
Unfortunately, Quelis seemed to be busy today, with no knowing when he’d return.
"Looks like I’ll have to wait."
Recognizing his partial responsibility for the current situation, Reiger decided not to disturb Quelis.
Thus, after finishing breakfast, Reiger returned to his room and informed Beluti of the situation via [Message].
Beluti wasn’t surprised, but offered Reiger a suggestion.
"In that case, why don’t you try contacting the dwarves?"
At these words, Reiger was taken aback.
"Contact the dwarves?"
Reiger seemed to have thought of something.
"Yes," Beluti reminded at the right moment, "The dwarves are the creators of Nanierga, if there’s any way to cross it, they would certainly know."
Reminded by Beluti, Reiger realized something.
Indeed, when it came to understanding the Nanierga Giant Wall, no one should know more than the dwarven blacksmiths.
Even if there was a way to cross Nanierga, the dwarves would be the ones in the know, not Quelis.
Quelis, as a garrison’s highest commander, hadn’t even guarded the place for more than ten years, how could he know more about Nanierga than the dwarves?
If truly seeking a way to cross the wall, starting with the dwarves was the right approach.
However...
"Will the dwarves be willing to tell me something so important?"
Reiger hadn’t forgotten how Melo and Naisa had cautioned him to be wary of the dwarves.
The dwarves were eager to reclaim the Holy Sword borne of their hands, believing it should be kept by their kind, often giving humans a hard time.
Though Reiger was the Savior, as the Master of the Holy Sword, he was bound to be targeted by those fanatical blacksmiths.
If there were a conflict with the dwarves over the sword’s ownership, then finding a way to cross Nanierga would be out of the question.
Even if the dwarves, out of respect for his status as the Savior, didn’t deliberately trouble Reiger, they might still not reveal the method to him.
After all, the danger of this was self-evident, Reiger himself was already troubled by the prospect, thinking that revealing it to Melo, Naisa, and others would result in their strong opposition.
The abyss saw Reiger as a thorn in its side; he had already faced multiple attacks because of it. Crossing Nanierga into the Black Land would be like walking into a trap.
Melo and Naisa would never agree to Reiger doing something so dangerous.
The dwarves wouldn’t be any different, entailing the Savior’s safety, the Source World’s future, and the operation of Nanierga’s defense line, the dwarves probably wouldn’t easily disclose any secrets.
If the abyss somehow learned the method to cross Nanierga, things would indeed become troubling.
Beluti was also aware of the difficulties involved in this matter.
However, she wasn’t without ideas.
"Perhaps we can ask Princess Lilicia for help."
Beluti unexpectedly suggested.
"Ask her?" Reiger was taken aback, confused: "Why her?"
Reiger hadn’t expected Beluti to mention the princess who was not on good terms with Melo.
Until Beluti revealed something to him.
"Princess Lilicia’s grandfather was a dwarf."
"Her mother was a half-dwarf."
"Thus, within Princess Lilicia flows a quarter of dwarven blood."
