Invincible through Touching Corpses-Chapter 93 - 92: Withdrawal
Lin Xinghai saw Wang Nuo wave his hand, and a yellow light shot toward him, so fast he didn’t have time to dodge.
As the light entered him, he immediately felt it transform into a wave of energy, flooding his entire body. It was a pleasant sensation, and it felt as if all his bodily functions had been elevated to a new level.
Watching Wang Nuo’s departing figure, Lin Xinghai knew at once that this must be his Enhancing Superpower.
Of course, he had no time to dwell on it now. He glanced at the Zombie Detector and saw that the nearest red dot was, sure enough, the horde of Zombies he had just spotted.
In addition, three other hordes were also quite close to the winery.
After memorizing their positions, Lin Xinghai wasted no time. Tearing Rifle in hand, he charged toward the nearest horde.
Executing his Phantom Body Technique, he weaved quickly between the buildings, using them for cover. It was then that Lin Xinghai noticed that under the effect of the Enhancing Superpower, his Speed had actually reached 66 points.
’Tsk! The enhancing effect is only 10%, but it’s not bad if it stacks,’ he mused.
’If I used my Speed Superpower now, my Speed could probably reach a terrifying 132 points.’
Though these thoughts ran through his mind, Lin Xinghai’s pace didn’t slow in the slightest. He quickly closed in, coming within 100 meters of the target horde.
However, he didn’t open fire. He remained hidden among the buildings, continuing to advance until he had slipped past them and come up behind the horde.
"Hey! You Zombies over there, look this way!" Lin Xinghai shouted.
ROAR! ROAR! ROAR!
The Zombies answered with excited roars as the entire horde charged madly toward him.
"Tsk! Such a warm welcome. It would be rude not to return the favor," Lin Xinghai said, responding with three gunshots.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
The three Zombies leading the charge immediately dropped to the ground, dead.
He fired as he retreated, luring the Zombies away from the winery.
Taking on an entire horde of Zombies alone would be difficult for most people, but for Lin Xinghai, it was nothing special.
In less than a minute, he had finished off the entire horde.
Without any delay, he used his Phantom Body Technique again and hurried back the way he came. Once he reached the vehicle, he glanced at the Zombie Detector.
He saw that the movement patterns of nearby Zombies had shifted; they were now heading toward the spot where he had killed the horde.
Clearly, the Zombies had been drawn in by the smell of blood, causing them to change their path.
Lin Xinghai breathed a sigh of relief. Everything was developing just as he had predicted.
He glanced at the positions of the other two nearby hordes, reloaded his magazine, and immediately rushed off to intercept them.
As long as he could keep intercepting them ahead of time, he could delay the Zombies’ advance on the winery.
Of course, this strategy was not without its costs. After he killed a horde, the bloody scent of the corpses would attract large numbers of other Zombies to feast on them. As a result, the number of Zombies surrounding the winery would only continue to grow.
Once the concentration of Zombies reached a certain point, it would become dangerous for them to break out.
This was why Lin Xinghai had given Ling Xiu and the others a five-minute time limit.
Lin Xinghai was rushing around hunting Zombies, so one would think he was under the most pressure. In reality, however, Ling Xiu and the others were far more nervous.
They were completely in the dark about the situation outside; all they could do was pack the red wine as quickly as possible and move it out.
They had found several wooden crates and were placing the bottles of red wine inside. As they worked, they also stuffed sponges, wood shavings, and scraps of cloth into the crates for cushioning.
With the four of them working together, they packed all 112 bottles of red wine into three large wooden crates and sealed them shut in just four minutes.
"Let’s go! We need to get out of here," Ling Xiu said, hoisting a large wooden crate and hurrying outside.
After returning to the main hall through the tunnel, he listened nervously. He didn’t hear any Zombie roars or gunshots, which he found quite puzzling.
’Logically speaking, even if Lin Xinghai could fend off the Zombies, it shouldn’t be an easy fight. So how could it be so quiet that there aren’t even any gunshots?’
Of course, despite his confusion, he didn’t dare slow his pace in the slightest. Cradling the large wooden crate, he broke into a run and dashed outside.
The others behind him quickly followed suit.
As they exited the winery’s main gate, they saw Lin Xinghai driving the multi-purpose SUV toward them.
"Get in, quick," Lin Xinghai said, hopping out of the driver’s seat and leaping directly onto the vehicle’s roof.
Ling Xiu and the others were overjoyed but also quite confused. Of course, this wasn’t the time for questions, so they quickly loaded the crates into the SUV.
Fortunately, the SUV’s interior was spacious enough that after stuffing the three large crates inside, two people could still squeeze into the back seat.
With Lin Xinghai on the roof, there was just enough room for everyone.
After setting down his crate, Wang Nuo immediately slid into the driver’s seat. He didn’t take off right away, though. Instead, he asked, "Brother Lin, which way do we go?"
"Just go back the way we came. If you run into any Zombies, just plow right through them," Lin Xinghai replied, simple and direct.
"You got it!" Wang Nuo floored the accelerator, and the vehicle shot forward.
His spirits soared, and he even began to consider how they should celebrate once they got back.
However, they had only driven a short distance when his soaring mood plummeted, and his heart sank with it.
Up ahead on the road, he saw a dense mass of Zombies completely blocking the main thoroughfare.
There were a terrifying number of them—almost 200.
Two hundred Zombies... Forget about a small hunting squad like theirs; even a weaker Mercenary Corps might be completely wiped out by such a force.
Almost instinctively, Wang Nuo wanted to slam on the brakes. Before he could, however, Lin Xinghai’s voice reached him first.
"Punch through them."
Wang Nuo heard him, gritted his teeth, and slammed the accelerator to the floor.
"Ling Xiu, give me another Tearing Rifle."
Ling Xiu was surprised and confused, but it didn’t stop him from handing his Tearing Rifle to Lin Xinghai.
At the same time, he stuck his head out the window and looked up at Lin Xinghai on the roof, only to see him holding a Tearing Rifle in each hand.
’Dual-wielding? Operating both at once?’
Although Ling Xiu had been shocked multiple times today, his face still showed utter astonishment at this sight.
Dual-wielding was a concept that had been proposed long ago, but countless people had since proven through experience that it was less effective than simply using one firearm.
Of course, Ling Xiu also knew that the primary reason for this conclusion was the immense technical difficulty of dividing one’s focus to operate two guns simultaneously. It was a feat no normal person should even attempt to think about.
But then, recalling Lin Xinghai’s Gun Technique, Ling Xiu felt that if anyone could do it, it was him.
And if an expert of his caliber could fully unleash the power of dual-wielding... just the thought of it made Ling Xiu’s heart pound with excitement.
