Invincible through Touching Corpses-Chapter 85 - 84: Intermediate Shooting Skill
"I have no objection to making Ah Xing the vice-commander. The problem is, the fact that he’s become one of the Optimized is still a secret to the men. If we promote him directly to vice-commander now, I’m afraid some of them will object."
"My thinking is this: we’re recruiting new members right now, so let’s make him a captain first. We can promote him to vice-commander after he breaks his second Genetic Lock. Given Ah Xing’s special physique, it probably won’t take very long," Fang Tianhe said.
"That’s true," Roger said with a smile. "I guess I was being impatient. I was afraid the kid might run off, so I wanted to give him enough benefits to make him stay."
"Don’t worry. My judgment has always been sharp; Ah Xing isn’t that kind of person. Of course, he’ll probably leave someday, but he won’t be leaving our Heaven-Sundering Mercenary Corps. He’ll be leaving Star Shield Shelter entirely," Fang Tianhe said.
Roger was taken aback for a moment, then gave a wry smile. "You’re right. A place like Star Shield Shelter is too small a stage for him."
As they spoke, the two of them gradually approached the recruitment station in the corner of the hall.
After applying to become a Second Level Mercenary Corps, recruiting new members to increase the corps’ strength was their most urgent task.
However, when they saw their recruitment station completely swarmed by several layers of Mercenaries, they couldn’t help but be stunned.
"What’s going on?"
Forget about a newly-promoted Second Level Mercenary Corps like theirs recruiting new members. Even when the top-tier Third Level Mercenary Corps held recruitment drives, they never attracted such a huge crowd of onlookers.
The two exchanged a glance, quickened their pace, and squeezed their way through the crowd.
To their relief, there didn’t seem to be any conflict, not even an argument.
A lot of people were asking questions, and the word the two of them heard most often was "Divine Sharpshooter."
Fang Tianhe scanned the area and immediately spotted Shen Han directing things in the center of the commotion.
He walked over. The two made eye contact, and without Fang Tianhe needing to say a word, Shen Han knew what he wanted to ask. He pointed to the rest area behind the recruitment station and led the way inside.
Fang Tianhe and Roger quickly followed him in. Closing the door, they finally had a moment of peace and quiet.
"What’s going on?" Fang Tianhe asked immediately.
"Lin Xinghai became a Divine Sharpshooter. He’s number two on the shooting leaderboard," Shen Han replied.
The words were simple, but the information they contained was immense. The two of them instantly understood why so many people were crowded outside.
"So, what’s the situation now?" Fang Tianhe asked.
In fact, he had anticipated something like this ever since Lin Xinghai used a Burning Bullet to critically injure the Blood Demon.
"So far, five Third Level Mercenary Corps have contacted us directly. There are probably even more just watching from the sidelines," Shen Han said.
Fang Tianhe said, "Then turn them all down. Be direct about it."
"Okay! But they’re extremely curious about how Lin Xinghai managed to progress this far in such a short amount of time. How should we handle that?" Shen Han posed another question.
"Stick to the cover story we came up with. Tell them that before the apocalypse, Lin Xinghai was a member of a shooting club and already had excellent gun technique and natural talent," Fang Tianhe said.
It was better to conceal some things as much as possible. Talent that great could incite jealousy even among their own people, let alone outsiders.
Besides, in the apocalypse, there were people with twisted personalities who were capable of anything.
Shen Han nodded and started to head out to deal with it, but Fang Tianhe stopped him at the door. "Wait. While you’re at it, pass down the order to raise our recruitment standards another level. It would be a real shame not to capitalize on the fame of a Divine Sharpshooter."
"Okay!" 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
...
Of course, Lin Xinghai had no idea that him becoming a Divine Sharpshooter was having a much greater impact than he’d anticipated.
At this moment, he had absorbed the other two Elemental Crystals. Looking at his Blood Qi Power, which had risen to 142 points, he felt a warm sense of satisfaction.
’This feeling of not having to worry about Blood Qi Power is amazing.’
And he no longer needed to keep saving up his Blood Qi Power. It was more practical to convert it into actual combat strength.
So, he opened his system panel.
Host: Lin Xinghai
Physique: 25 points
Power: 21 points
Speed: 30 points
Blood Qi Power: 142 points
Genetic Optimization Level: 30%+
Superpower: Speed (Within ten seconds, Speed increases by 100%) (Energy Value: 10/10)
Basic Level Shooting Skill: Proficiency 100%+
Phantom Body Technique (Entry Level): Proficiency 10%+
Right now, the only things he could upgrade using Blood Qi Power were his Basic Level Shooting Skill and Phantom Body Technique.
After some thought, Lin Xinghai decided to upgrade his Basic Level Shooting Skill first. After all, for the Optimized, firearms were still their primary source of combat power.
"DING! Spend 100 Blood Qi Power to upgrade to Intermediate Shooting Skill?"
Lin Xinghai immediately selected "Yes." Instantly, a vast stream of information flooded into his mind.
The sheer volume of information made Lin Xinghai feel slightly dizzy.
He closed his eyes, rapidly processing the information. A clear concept of what Intermediate Shooting Skill entailed gradually formed in his mind.
To his surprise, he discovered that Intermediate Shooting Skill was actually an application of Perception Power.
In other words, he had accidentally been stumbling in the right direction all along.
Of course, that was as far as his fumbling went. To truly master Intermediate Shooting Skill on his own would have been impossible without at least two or three years of practice.
After digesting all the information in his mind, Lin Xinghai opened his eyes and checked his system panel again.
His new Intermediate Shooting Skill was only at 1% proficiency. Naturally, he wanted to put more points into it.
But to his astonishment, the "+" sign next to the Gun Technique proficiency was now grayed out.
His heart tightened. He quickly tapped it, and a system prompt popped up.
"DING! Host’s Perception Power is insufficient. Upgrade temporarily unavailable."
Lin Xinghai: ???
’If it were for any other reason, I could understand it, but why Perception Power?’
’My Perception Power is so strong that not even Fang Tianhe can compare! Barring those Blood Qi Realm experts who have broken four genetic locks, who among the Optimized could possibly compete with me?’
However, after calming down and reviewing the information on Intermediate Shooting Skill, Lin Xinghai realized it might actually be true.
His Perception Power had a wide range, but that didn’t mean it was strong enough.
This was evident from the fact that the things he perceived were still blurry.
And according to the information in his mind, at higher levels, Intermediate Shooting Skill involved directly using Perception Power to influence a bullet’s trajectory.
It could make a bullet defy the laws of physics and change its path after being fired.
To achieve that, besides having sufficient skill in applying Perception Power, the strength of the Perception Power itself probably needed to be at the Blood Qi Realm level.

I read the comments on the last Chapter and I’m honestly speechless. Have you guys never heard of a dad helping with night feeds?
Of course, my wife takes care of our daughter during the day; I just handle the early morning feeding. I hear babies don’t stop needing night feeds until they’re over a year old...
I just want to sleep through the night, ahhhh!
