I have to admit, this Snake's methods were strange. As a Rank Two Middle Level Creature (with Level 10 being equivalent to Rank One), killing people was incredibly easy for it; it could do so without anyone being the wiser.

But what could the Zhao Family have possibly done to provoke it, making it kill their members one after another?

It was the Zhao Family's House Snake. Normally, being protected by such a creature would truly bring blessings and wealth, ensuring success in all endeavors.

But if you offended a snake like this, you would likely face a cataclysmic disaster.

House Snake leaves, the family falls. House Snake stays, the family thrives.

This saying, which had been passed down in Bai Town for hundreds of years, wasn't just an old wives' tale; it held real meaning.

That girl, Li Qingzhao, was so captivated that she unknowingly stepped out from behind the locust tree and into the courtyard. Her beautiful eyes sparkled, just like a little fangirl's.

The instant Li Qingzhao stepped out, the Crowned King noticed her. Its Snake Pupils locked onto her in a flash, a vicious light flaring within them, like a sudden, cold gust of wind.

It was enough to make your skin crawl.

'What is this girl doing? Does she have a death wish?'

Tu Xiao'an was exasperated with her, utterly speechless. She only saw the Crowned King's beautiful exterior and completely ignored that it was a killer snake. Barring any miracles, Zhao Da was already dead and gone.

'She'd witnessed the whole thing, so how could she be so clueless?'

And so, there she stood: a beautiful young woman, as delicate as a flower, in the middle of the courtyard. Her long hair drifted in the wind. Not far away, a pair of bewitching Snake Gaze watched her, glinting with a cold light. The night was pitch-black, silent, and grim. Five coffins stood starkly in the background. The human and the Snake locked eyes, facing each other from a distance of no more than thirty feet.

WHOOSH...

In the blink of an eye, the Crowned Snake was reared up before Li Qingzhao, letting out a strange cry as if to threaten her.

But the thoughtless girl wasn't afraid at all. In fact, her beautiful eyes lit up like a flash of lightning as she spoke with startling honesty and frankness.

"Could you be my family's House Snake?"

Her voice was clear and pleasant, yet tinged with the nervousness of a confession, as if she was terrified of being rejected.

As soon as the words left her mouth, Tu Xiao'an felt his metaphorical jaw drop. 'A torrent of curses is stampeding through my mind. This girl is just too bizarre. Is she some kind of anime character?'

'Her thinking is completely off the wall, always taking the most unorthodox approach.' 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

'If the members of the Zhao Family heard this, they'd probably fall to their knees and beg her to take this killer snake away. If she actually managed it, she'd be their savior.'

The Crowned Snake froze for a moment, its Snake Gaze showing a very human-like expression of astonishment.

Then, just as quickly, its ferocious Killing Intent vanished like smoke. It stared blankly at Li Qingzhao, as if lost in a memory.

It was a desolate corner of the Zhao Family's backyard. A beautiful young woman, as delicate as a flower, sat in her room playing a flute. The melody was mournful and cold, a desolate lament, as if she had lost all hope in life.

When the song ended, she saw a small snake, about three feet long and adorably verdant, coiled on the doorframe. It flicked its fiery red tongue, watching her with crystal-clear eyes.

"What a beautiful snake," the young woman exclaimed in awe, unafraid. Her eyes sparkled as she asked, "Are you perhaps the Zhao Family's House Snake?"

The adorable, verdant snake seemed startled and vanished in a flash.

But from then on, whenever the young woman played her flute, the adorable, verdant snake would appear, becoming her sole audience.

Over time, the human and the Snake became unlikely friends.

One day, when the adorable, verdant snake appeared again, the young woman looked at it seriously and said with heartfelt sincerity, "Could you be a House Snake just for me? No one else in this family likes me. You're the only one who keeps me company."

After she spoke, she watched it nervously. The little snake slowly coiled up in front of her, resting its small head on the ground.

She smiled, a smile as radiant as the sun in a bright spring sky. She reached out to touch it for the very first time. Its skin was bone-chillingly cold, as if it had been frozen solid.

The woman picked it up and held it to her chest, sharing her motherly warmth.

When the Crowned King snapped out of its reverie, it acted as if it had received a tremendous shock. It roared viciously at Li Qingzhao, its Snake Gaze filled with madness.

Startled, Li Qingzhao stumbled back a few steps, staring in horror at the uniquely and exceptionally beautiful snake.

'Is it rejecting me?' she wondered.

When she was a child, the adults had told her that House Snakes were highly spiritual creatures.

Just as the Crowned King's ferocity erupted, a cold voice echoed in its mind.

"Why must you kill?"

The Crowned King froze. Instantly, its Snake Gaze locked onto Li Qingzhao's shoulder, as if it could see right through everything.

Then, it let out a strange cry.

"They all deserve to die!"

Tu Xiao'an heard a cold voice; he was conversing with the Crowned Snake. There was little a Rank Two Middle Level Creature couldn't do.

"Deserve to die?"

'Is it saying that everyone in the Zhao Family deserves to die?'

Tu Xiao'an was actually extremely curious as to how the Zhao Family had offended this snake.

Logically, House Snakes were reclusive. Even when residing in a home, they would almost never reveal themselves. And for the people of Zhao Village, who were devout followers of the Snake King, discovering a House Snake in their home would be a cause for celebration.

They would worship it like an ancestor; provoking it would be unthinkable.

From that single sentence, Tu Xiao'an knew this snake harbored a monstrous, undying hatred for the Zhao Family.

"No matter how the Zhao Family offended you, you've already killed six of them. Isn't that enough?"

The Crowned King replied, "Not enough. Their entire family, all thirteen of them, young and old—they all must die. They all deserve it."

"Hmph... Now that I'm here, I won't allow you to kill anymore. You will pay the price for what you've done, and that price will be your Devouring by me."

Suddenly, the Crowned King's ferocity exploded. It became Spiritual and Fierce, its Killing Intent blasting out like a gale.

Li Qingzhao was scared stiff, falling right on her bottom. Her eyes were filled with terror as she watched the exceptionally beautiful snake roar in front of her.

At that moment, she felt a suffocating sense of death wash over her.

'Is this snake going to kill me, too?'

Li Qingzhao was suddenly overcome with sadness. She truly liked this snake; she had fallen for it the moment she saw it.

'A House Snake... The very creature I've longed to see just once since I was a child is now right in front of me. It feels like a dream.'

'I have a vague feeling that this snake is hiding a terrible secret. It wasn't supposed to be like this.'

The Crowned King had become a Murderous Demon King, roaring madly at Li Qingzhao—or more accurately, at the spot on her shoulder.

'I'm about to die, killed by this very snake.'

Suddenly, Li Qingzhao's eyes widened, as if she were witnessing something impossible. A silver-and-gold snake had materialized out of thin air before her. Moonlight cascaded over its striped scales, creating a breathtakingly beautiful sight.
