Invincibility Begins with Mastery of Fist Techniques-Chapter 94: Dashing
"Oh?"
Hearing Lu Ming's description, Zhou Yuanjue was slightly surprised and fell into thought.
"Do you think things like Magic and Mana really exist? I've heard legends about them since I was a kid. Opinions on the matter varied widely in ancient Donghua Country, and there seem to be many folk traditions. Are Mana and True Essence really that miraculous?"
Lu Ming asked curiously.
"As far as I know, they don't. The so-called 'Mana' of legend is, in reality, inextricably linked to the mind and body. This is especially true for the mind. When the human mind reaches an extremely high state, all sorts of wondrous things can happen. Perhaps this is what's known as 'Divine Power.'"
"Of course, no one knows what state one reaches after attaining Saint Awakening. But even at that level, you probably can't escape the two fundamentals of mind and body. That is the essence of spirit and life."
Zhou Yuanjue said.
"Could this old man be a Saint Awakening master?"
Lu Ming asked.
"Most likely not. If he had reached Saint Awakening, there would be no point in participating in this fighting tournament. And if he hasn't reached Saint Awakening at his age, he probably never will. The body's decline is difficult to reverse."
"That 'Magic' of his—pointing a finger and incapacitating someone from a distance—is probably related to the mind. But to knock someone unconscious directly without using physical force is certainly an exaggeration. Even I would have to go all out to possibly achieve that. For him to unleash such a powerful burst of will with his aged body... that's truly incredible."
Zhou Yuanjue analyzed thoughtfully, feeling that this man's Martial Dao must be very interesting.
"Accept the invitation. By tomorrow night, we'll find out what tricks this man has up his sleeve."
...
...
Guangpu City, in a seaside park by the coast.
In the afternoon, the setting sun cast a faint, dusky-yellow glow. The sunlight felt warm on the skin, having lost the scorching heat of midday.
A stretch of silvery-white sand was bustling with activity.
Men and women, young and old, were either frolicking in the sea or playing on the sand, creating a picture of joyful harmony. Occasionally, one or two beautiful young women in swimsuits would stroll by, drawing a great deal of attention.
At this moment, under a beach umbrella, an old man with a full head of silver hair and a still-sturdy build lay comfortably on a lounge chair. He wore sunglasses, a pair of loose-fitting beach shorts, and had a glass of coconut water beside him.
A young man slowly approached the old man from behind. His appearance instantly drew the attention of most of the women nearby.
He was about 1.9 meters tall and wore beach shorts that revealed a strong, perfect upper body. His face was handsome and masculine, his skin a perfect bronze. His every move seemed to exude a naturally powerful aura. He was practically a walking hormone, possessing a devastating appeal to every woman.
The young man walked slowly to the old man's side and said, "Grandpa, we have news."
"So pale... The sun is so strong. What if they get a tan..."
The old man seemed not to have heard the young man, muttering to himself in admiration.
"?"
A question mark practically appeared over the young man's face. He leaned down and took the large sunglasses off the old man, revealing a face with still-firm skin.
Although he was eighty-six, he didn't look much different from a man in his fifties. You could tell from his features that the old man must have been extraordinarily handsome when he was young.
The old man's eyes were currently staring intently in one direction on the beach. The young man followed his gaze and saw several girls in swimsuits playing beach volleyball. The white light reflecting off their skin under the sun was almost dazzling.
They seemed a bit tired after a round, so the girls stopped and walked over to a nearby umbrella to drink coconut water and reapply sunscreen.
"Wait a second."
Before the young man could speak, the old man suddenly leaped up from his lounge chair, smartphone in hand, and trotted over toward the girls.
The young man then watched his grandpa gesture wildly at the girls, who were in their early twenties, and point in his direction. When the girls saw his handsome face and tall, perfect physique, they shyly turned their heads away.
Just then, the old man flashed his phone. The girls giggled and happily took out their own phones, each scanning the QR code.
Soon, the old man said something that sent the girls into a fit of laughter. After a few minutes, he returned to the young man's side.
"Did you use me as an excuse to get their contact info again?"
The young man watched his grandpa clutch his phone, expertly scrolling through the social media feeds of the friends he had just added. He was utterly exasperated.
"I raised you for a thousand days to use you for a moment. If I don't use you now, what's the point of having you?"
The old man said bluntly.
"I'm just saying, you're not young anymore. Can't you be a little more reliable? If Grandma were still around, she'd tan your hide."
The young man said, completely speechless.
"What do you know? This is what I call maintaining a youthful mindset. Our school of thought is all about living freely and unfettered in the mortal world. Most people are bound by age and time, letting dust gather on their hearts. The body's aging isn't scary; what's scary is the heart aging before the body does. Some people might look alive, but in reality, their hearts have long since withered and died. They're just walking corpses. But me? I may be eighty, but my spirit is still eighteen and full of vitality. What's so bad about that?"
"And then there's you. Look at you with that long face all day. No wonder your training is so pathetic, even worse than an old man like me. How did I end up with such a blockhead for a grandson?"
The old man said with a look of disgust.
"I have my own way of being free, so you don't need to worry about me. You talk a big game about being carefree, so why did you decide to wade into these muddy waters?"
the young man asked.
"You have to pay your debts in this world. I accepted a favor and made a promise, so I have to see it through. I, Dai Yisheng, may be carefree and spontaneous, but my word is my bond."
"Besides, this rare grand event is also an interesting affair. How can life be considered complete without experiencing it firsthand?"
As he said this, the old man, Dai Yisheng's, expression turned serious. Despite his advanced age, he still seemed to possess the vitality and curiosity of a young man.
"You just said there was news?"
Dai Yisheng asked.
"Yes. Zhou Yuanjue has accepted your challenge." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
The young man nodded and said.
"Good. He's a remarkable fellow. I wonder if he can withstand a single strike from my sword? If he can't, or if I gain nothing from this, then he can't blame me. It'll be a good chance to see just how capable these top Martial Artists of the new era really are."
"Also, you should start scouting the next target from the 'seed' list. I think that He Runlin fellow looks pretty good. Why don't we pick him next?"
A slight smile touched the corners of Dai Yisheng's lips.
