Chapter 165: Chapter 55: Anomalous Situation (3)

Even with as many different detectors as Wisdom 03, a detection ball is still more useful; it’s a true little pathfinder.

Of course, each has its specialty; in terms of detection and analysis capabilities, Wisdom 01 is more advanced.

Wisdom 03 is at most a substitute.

Su Xiaocai told them, "I think we have one underground."

The underground soil trembled continuously, and all the students flew up. The next moment, insectoids broke through the ground, dust rising everywhere.

Su Xiaocai was still in her original position.

"Run!" The instructor sped back, wondering why there was a student who knew about the insectoids yet remained motionless.

So unprofessional.

Wu Feiyang, who had been constantly watching Su Xiaocai, gasped, "Where’s my Caicai?"

"What do you mean, your Caicai?" Wu Qingqing drew a gun and fired at the insectoids emerging from the dust cloud.

The shell disguising the insectoid shattered, revealing its ferocious appearance.

Wu Feiyang also attacked the unshielded insectoids, "Aren’t you worried about her?"

"If she wanted to escape, she’d have flown earlier than us."

The rolling sandstorm boiled fiercely; the sandstorm grew heavier, visibility almost zero.

"Master, four insectoids are approaching you." Wisdom 03 displayed the insectoids’ positions and quickly simulated their attack routes.

Su Xiaocai controlled her mecha to leap, activating the propulsion under it, yanked to high power, she kicked away two approaching insectoids, then as her dagger popped out, the blue blade effortlessly pierced the insectoid’s shell.

She rubbed the insectoid against the ground, inflicting lethal damage.

The upturned sandstorm lasted about a minute or so.

When everything inside became clear, Su Xiaocai sheathed her dagger. All around were insectoid corpses; the last insectoid had its vital point viciously pierced by the dagger and died silently.

The mecha remained intact, though a dagger was ruined, the blade edge nicked, and the blade tip’s energy slot was emptied.

"This weapon is junk." Su Xiaocai missed her self-repairing shapeshifting weapon.

"Wuhu." Hu Ping whistled, totally impressed.

Although they hadn’t seen how Su Xiaocai killed them, over a dozen insectoids were dismembered and dispatched.

All done in under two minutes.

"Impressive!" Liu Xun said, "Caicai, couldn’t you leave one for me?"

Su Xiaocai looked at the mecha’s 2% energy consumption and Wisdom 03’s prompt, "Master, you’ve overused the mecha, reducing its performance by 1%. Please mind your pace."

Wisdom 03: "Master, I’m not professional; I suggest using Wisdom 01."

"I said it can’t be used. Be good, do your best as my navigator." Su Xiaocai also wanted to use Wisdom 01, but it really wasn’t usable at the moment.

Wisdom 03 had to continue playing the navigator role, "I’ll do my best."

The instructor wanted to rebuke Su Xiaocai for being aggressive but swallowed all his words at the sight of the insectoid corpses everywhere.

"Are you alright?"

"Hmm, I’m fine." Su Xiaocai pushed the damaged dagger back into its slot, "These insectoids can disguise themselves as rocks."

They looked no different from rocks when curled up, with very low intelligence.

"There should be an Insect Man Warrior behind them. Without its orders, the Greed would’ve emerged to devour us already."

"Are you sure?" The instructor questioned.

"We stood on them for at least two minutes before they appeared. It’s enough to determine there’s an Insect Man Warrior directing them. Without a warrior in command, they can’t suppress their inherent hunger."

The instructors’ expressions turned grim. Where there’s an Insect Man Warrior, there are typically at least a few thousand Greeds lurking.

"Let’s head back; we need to report this." The instructor stated.

"Just to head back like this?" Jun Hui, another senior, found it hard to believe, considering how briefly they’ve been out.

Instructor: "If you’re confident fighting several thousand Greeds, we’re fine with that."

Surrounded by such numbers of Greeds, breaking through would be nearly impossible.

Instructors have to prioritize the students’ safety and can’t take unnecessary risks.

"Master, are we just making a trip out like this?" Wu Qingqing pleaded.

"The guilty disciple is too skilled at using her charm."

Su Xiaocai, just like Daddy Su, couldn’t resist someone close acting spoiled: "Instructor, I support heading back. But on our way back, I think we could let us students scout for any more ambushed insectoids. How about searching around Huangyang City before we return?"

Huangyang City isn’t far; we could be back in a few minutes. Searching the route is beneficial for understanding the insectoids’ distribution.

If they could discover more insectoid traces, it would indicate that Huangyang City is fully surrounded, and they should consider retreating rather than training further here.

Wu Qingqing gave her master a thumbs up, as it wouldn’t delay sending someone back to report, and student safety would be assured.

The leading instructor pondered and agreed that it was a good idea.

He adopted Su Xiaocai’s suggestion, sending an instructor to report the situation and begin arranging the students’ evacuation.

Without returning, Wu Qingqing and the others seized the opportunity, initiating a carpet search with their detectors for abnormalities.

As it turns out, the students’ self-prepared detectors were versatile, helping them discover several ambushed insectoids.

Over forty students rushed the newly discovered ten insectoids.

Wu Feiyang took down an insectoid’s head with a single shot, flicking the gun coolly, "Piece of cake. Caicai, did you see how cool I looked?"

Others: You’re blind, aren’t you? Didn’t see the neat reversal sword move?

Su Xiaocai smiled, "I saw; you’re great. Keep it up, keep improving."

Hearing Su Xiaocai’s laughter, Wu Feiyang got even more excited, swearing to unearth all the insectoid hideouts.

"Idiot." Wu Qingqing cursed in the private team channel.

Teammates looked at Ji Heng.

Ji Heng: Why do you all blame me, the team captain?

Just because I’m called Ji Er doesn’t mean I’m an idiot; Wu Feiyang’s the real brainless one.

After Su Xiaocai’s earlier display, everyone held her in high regard; skilled people like to appreciate each other.

Afterward, Su Xiaocai didn’t hog any more glory nor attacked actively, controlling her actions well, which made her even more popular.

All the students liked to gather around her, asking how long she’d been piloting mecha, how she trained, and how she just killed the insectoids.

Su Xiaocai generously shared without arrogance, speaking pleasantly, which made Jun Hui and Jun Ya’s students feel tempted to rope her back into their school.

Huangyang City is surrounded by flat land, offering a vast, easy-to-see area but tough to defend.

The only advantage of such terrain is that a retreat can be made quickly, and the shuttlecraft can take off at any moment.

They continued their search, reaching another side of Huangyang City.

This old grand city now had few remaining inhabitants; on the side far from the Military Department base, only mecha stood firm against the setting sun.

The students waved enthusiastically at them, as the mecha saluted by crossing its arm before its chest and then continued its patrol.

"Hahaha, they saluted us; every time I see it, it makes them look so cool."

"Mecha are naturally cool; we’re cool too."

"Shameless, aren’t you embarrassed?"

"Did I say anything wrong?"

Su Xiaocai sincerely said, "You all really are cool, no need to question it."

With Su Xiaocai balancing the three schools, the students’ atmosphere was quite harmonious, quickly achieving rapport.

Wisdom 03 diligently recorded Su Xiaocai’s body data and the insectoid ambush points the group discovered.

Su Xiaocai also marked all the insectoid detection points her detector could pick up.

The situation was grave; Huangyang City was indeed encircled, getting denser as they moved outward.

It was bewildering why the insectoids would still gather, attempting to eradicate the remaining lives on Huangyang Star.

Night fell rapidly; the temperature plunged, frost spreading over the land, with daytime temperatures over fifty degrees and nighttime dropping to minus sixty degrees.

As the last glimmer of light vanished, the students returned to the Military Department base.

Today’s insectoid slaying went quite smoothly. The students were high-spirited, fervently sharing their busting experiences, with emotions still riding high.
