Interstellar Number One Farmer: I Only Want To Farm!-Chapter 113 - 39: Major Sun’s Sudden Inspiration (Part 2)
Major Sun asked Colonel Bai: "So your solution here is just to break up a team of students?"
"If you’re willing to use some who are not very experienced in combat, that could work too." Colonel Bai pointed to several soldiers behind him, "They’re all quite capable, but they’ve had fewer than ten encounters with the Insect Men. As instructors, they’re fully qualified."
The competition among soldiers on Mechanical Planet is intense, without solid achievements, it’s hard to climb up the ranks.
The people behind Colonel Bai were all Lieutenants, and they had been on the Mechanical Planet for several years, familiar with all the terrains here.
"We really don’t have anyone here, other schools have students too, and the Military Training arrived too late." Colonel Bai didn’t mean to make things difficult for Major Sun, it was just a string of misfortunes, and it wouldn’t be proper to have someone above the rank of Major lead the team.
They wouldn’t be willing, and students who had already been assigned to teams would feel it’s unfair.
Major Sun rubbed his forehead, it was a tough decision, he couldn’t bear breaking up Ji Heng’s team, but the Lieutenants lacked experience dealing with Insect Men.
Out of the corner of his eye, he glimpsed Su Xiaocai yawning, Major Sun displayed an intriguing smile.
Using inexperienced people was feared for unsafe leadership.
But with a top-tier talent present, wouldn’t it solve the problem?
Major Sun mentally applauded his cleverness.
"Su Xiaocai, come here for a moment." Major Sun suddenly called her out.
Su Xiaocai was taken aback, feeling extremely uneasy, her entire being resisted, she shook her head, "I’m not going."
Everyone was speechless, what about military discipline?
The Major is calling you, and as a student, you dare to refuse?
"If you don’t come, we’ll take you back later."
"Scaring a kid, is it?" Unable to bear the pitiful pleading looks from her two roommates, Su Xiaocai reluctantly walked over, "What’s the matter?"
"Emergency situation, you’re joining Wu Wu... your roommate’s team." Major Sun couldn’t remember the name, "The army can only send one Lieutenant to lead the team, with some experience, but not much. So, do you understand?"
"I don’t understand." Su Xiaocai continued shaking her head, "This isn’t appropriate, I filled out my registration as support staff. If I join the team, it’ll cause psychological trauma to the other students. Just an Agricultural Institute student crushing Mecha Department students, it doesn’t sound good."
"Don’t think I don’t know, you’re also from the Mecha Department." Major Sun softened his tone, "Will you agree or not, young lady? If I don’t oversee you guys, and you don’t lead them, what if something unexpected happens, can you guarantee you won’t regret it?"
Su Xiaocai deliberated, "It’s okay if you want me to join, I won’t participate in military training, I’ll just go on missions with them. Otherwise, I’ll remain an assistant doctor."
Colonel Bai couldn’t help but look over Su Xiaocai, "Young lady, you’ve got quite some attitude, even in my troops, there’s no one as arrogant as you."
Major Sun patted Su Xiaocai’s shoulder, highly recommending, "If you have time, you can compete with her, it’s been quite the buzz lately. Taking on Insect Men with just two knives, that’s her. No complaints about her mecha skills. She just doesn’t like being a soldier, prefers being a farmer."
Colonel Bai had been too busy to follow the news lately, he admired skilled people, but her desire to do farming made him think she lacked ambition.
"Even if she can fight the Insect Men barehanded, it doesn’t mean much. Battlefield information changes rapidly, she has no experience, I can’t agree."
"Colonel, didn’t you make a logical error." Su Xiaocai said, "You were the one who said that if we were willing, we could use inexperienced soldiers. And my joining is only as part of the student side, just needs Major Sun’s approval."
She didn’t need points, nor rewards, it was equivalent to having an extra hands-off bodyguard in the team. Whether he agreed or not didn’t matter.
Major Sun secretly chuckled, "Colonel Bai, it was initially your mistake. So how about both parties take a step back?"
Colonel Bai was not angry at Su Xiaocai’s argument, as a tough soldier, he had a broad mind, but the military has its rules, "I still prefer your team to disperse."
But regarding school students, he couldn’t control them strictly, "If you all agree, then we won’t be responsible for the safety of this young student. Her joining is like having an extra member, we can only provide the most basic mecha framework, any customization must be done by yourselves."
"Alright." Major Sun readily agreed.
Su Xiaocai: ?!
Colonel Bai called a soldier to the front, "This is Level Three Noncommissioned Officer, Fan Li."
The man in military uniform, with a simple face, stepped forward and saluted Major Sun and Su Xiaocai.
"Did you hear just now, you don’t need to watch over this student, just call her along for missions." Colonel Bai didn’t repeat, briskly ordered the soldier, then hurried off to attend to other matters.
