INTERSTELLAR ERA: MY MIND IS A LIBRARY-Chapter 32: DEPARTURE
The group began walking out of the gaming hub.
The sun had begun to set, covering everywhere in its warm, silver light.
The cheering of people filled the air, much louder than when they had come in the morning.
They walked back to their tents, slightly exhausted. They had played more games after that time and were constantly paired with a random teammate.
"I wonder how master Sebastian is doing," Silas muttered.
Sebastian had refused to join them earlier, stating he had some things to handle.
Just then, a message came from Rion. "Master Sebastian left a message about 3 hours ago."
"Why didn’t you tell me earlier?" Silas asked with furrowed brows. His words were still mental so no one heard him.
"Because he asked me not to unless you are going."
"Ohh," Silas nodded. "What was it?" He asked.
"He has gone back to the tower because some troubles have risen in the main battlefield," Rion’s emotionless voice replied calmly.
"Some problems?" Silas wondered aloud, making everyone turn their gazes to him.
"What is it?" Amelia asked first.
"Nothing, I was checking something," he said, scratching his head.
Max’s gaze lingered on him for a while before he withdrew it.
"Yes. He also transferred five hundred million credits to you. Then, about the Orion Sector master, he will be here in a month to take you to the academy planet."
Rion said everything before finally going quiet.
Silas sighed. He just couldn’t keep up with the information he had just heard.
He had always thought his Sovereign Garden with a total worth of 50 million credits felt like child’s play in front of Sebastian, who could casually give 500 million credits.
Then there was the matter of mobilizing the Governor of the Orion Sector to pick us up faster.
’I still underestimate the full power of a vice tower master,’ Silas thought with a sigh.
"Sebastian has gone back, so we wouldn’t be going with him," Max said calmly as they entered the tent. "Just pack your things so we can go back."
Although he knew that Sebastian had accepted Silas as a disciple, Amelia and Aldric were still in the dark about his identity, so he refrained from adding Master to his name.
Amelia furrowed her brows but did not speak, seeing as she was the only one who wanted to talk there.
They all packed and headed to their cars.
Aldric bid farewell before a driver came to pick him up from the garage.
"So, do we leave Alfred?" Silas asked, resting his back on the driver’s seat.
"Obviously, he dares to do that without me," Max said without a bit of shame.
Silas shook his head at the two old men who were still acting like children.
He ignited the car’s engine, then reversed from the midst of the cars before zooming forward.
Everywhere had gotten dark. Neon lights lit the entire street in an ethereal, otherworldly glow that made the sight captivating.
Tall buildings shot into the sky, their tops stretching beyond the clouds of the planet.
No one spoke, only enjoying the cool breeze that passed through the roof that Silas had decided to open at a point in their journey.
Amelia was tired, her head resting on the window. Her eyelids constantly pressed together but she held on.
Max remained silent, staring out of the window with a calm that he rarely exhibited. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
In the driver’s seat, Silas was the one facing the most thoughts.
He did not know whether to use the credits he just received for research, or divert them to his company, or even cultivate with all of it.
Five hundred million credits was not a number one simply received and stayed normal after.
It was late, the road was relatively calm compared to the normal bustling of the capital.
’I guess everyone is preparing for the silver sun festival,’ Silas thought with a sigh.
He released his grip on the steering wheel.
Just then, the city experienced a power outage, something that had never happened on the planet since its creation.
It was brief, lasting only 5 seconds.
"What was..." Silas was about to complain when he saw the blinding light that flashed in front of the car.
He saw Max, hovering above the floor, calmly.
In his arms was a young woman, bloodied from head to toe. Her white dress was no different from a brown one. It was torn in different places, revealing most of her body.
Thick, long chains wrapped around her legs and hands.
Amelia’s gaze dimmed. Without thinking, she pulled a jacket from her bag.
She ran out of the car and covered the girl’s body with it before collecting her from Max.
"What is this?" Silas asked, coming down from the car cautiously.
Max did not reply. But his aura became so chilling that Silas almost passed out.
"This..." Silas’s breath caught. "Did he advance to the Ascendant Realm?" he wondered aloud.
But he quickly snapped back to the current situation.
Max landed calmly, then walked back into the car like nothing had happened.
He wished he could have at least healed the woman but he had not learned any healing techniques.
Silas and Amelia entered the car and they continued their journey.
The silence remained but it was heavier than before.
They reached the mansion.
As if they had been contacted beforehand, several maids stood at the entrance, with another group of butlers carrying a stretcher.
The car stopped briefly at that point, allowing the maids to carry the woman.
Amelia and Max also came down.
Amelia opted to follow the maids to the clinic.
For the first time, Silas saw pure empathy in Amelia’s eyes.
Max, on the other hand, strode to his office calmly.
Silas sighed before driving the car towards the garage.
’Why do I feel uneasy about this incident?’ He wondered.
Today was meant to be a very normal and peaceful day.
But it had escalated pretty quickly.
"I would just leave everything for the future me to handle," Silas said with a smile.
