Interstellar Beast World: All My Husbands Are Powerful and Rich!-Chapter 69: Panic
Jasper’s temper flared the instant the subject resurfaced, a sharp edge cutting through his composure.
"I already know we’ll need to involve the Enchanter Clan," he said coolly, though impatience threaded unmistakably through his voice. "You mentioned Wayne earlier." His gaze fixed on Bron. "I assume you’ve already reached out to him."
Bron Mandian gave a short nod, his expression grave as he continued. "We have. But the royal family’s Grand Elder conducted a full divination." He paused, as if weighing the implications. "According to the results, Prince Vincent and Commander Yuel are not in Chitinid hands."
Jasper’s brow furrowed deeply, a crease forming between his eyes.
"They’re still somewhere within the Empire’s borders," Bron went on. "Our best assessment is that they’re badly injured—likely stranded on a remote planet, unable to return under their own power." His gaze sharpened. "That’s why I came to you."
The unspoken truth hung heavily in the air. Everyone in the Empire knew it: when it came to tracking individuals across star systems, no organization could rival the Interstellar Hunter Alliance. Its members were legion, its reach unmatched, and its operations extended into regions where even imperial forces hesitated to tread.
Jasper exhaled slowly, running a hand through his hair as irritation flickered across his sharp features. For a moment, it looked as though he might refuse outright.
"Fine," he said at last, the word clipped but decisive. "Since you’re my brother, I’ll help however I can."
In the end, he couldn’t bring himself to turn Bron away. Jasper had never been an easy man to deal with, and he knew it. But growing up, Bron Mandian had been the only one who had consistently looked out for him—shielding him when it mattered, standing beside him when no one else would. That debt lingered, heavy and undeniable, outweighing even Jasper’s pride.
Relief washed over Bron’s face the moment Jasper agreed.
"Thank you," he said sincerely. "We need to find them quickly. Every day Prince Vincent and Commander Yuel remain missing increases the danger."
Jasper nodded once. "I understand. I’ll mobilize my people immediately."
With the urgent matters settled, Bron’s stern expression finally softened. He smiled, then reached into his spatial storage and produced a velvet-lined box.
"I heard you’ve found your huntress," he said warmly. "I’ve been tied up with work and didn’t get the chance to congratulate you properly. This is for you."
Jasper accepted the box, curious. When he opened it, his breath stilled.
Inside lay an exceptionally pure Level 10 beast core, radiating dense, refined energy.
It was exactly what he needed to break through to the next stage.
Jasper had already secured two cores on his own—but he hadn’t expected Bron to bring him a third.
Level 10 beast cores were nothing like low-tier ones. They were extraordinarily rare, nearly impossible to obtain. Even securing a single core was considered an achievement.
"Thank you," Jasper said quietly.
Bron laughed and clapped him on the shoulder. "I’m your older brother. No thanks needed."
Then his expression shifted to concern. "How is your huntress treating you?"
Bron was genuinely happy Jasper had finally bonded, but he couldn’t help worrying. Cold-blooded Dragon Kind males weren’t popular with females, and Jasper’s stubborn, moody personality didn’t help his reputation.
At the mention of Rory, Jasper’s entire demeanor shifted almost instantly.
The tension bracing his shoulders eased, the rigid line of his posture softening. Even the perpetual chill that usually lingered in his gaze thawed, replaced by something quieter, warmer, and unmistakably genuine.
"She’s good to me," Jasper said, and for once, there was no edge in his voice—only a rare, unguarded warmth. "I’m lucky." A faint smile touched his lips. "I found a huntress who actually likes me—just like you did." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Bron studied him in silence for a long moment, searching for any trace of pretense. Finding none, he let out a breath and smiled in relief. Jasper wasn’t posturing or exaggerating. He was truly happy, in a way Bron hadn’t seen in years.
"As a male, it wouldn’t be appropriate for me to visit your huntress alone," Bron said at last, his tone thoughtful rather than formal. "Next time, I’ll bring mine. We can all have dinner together."
Jasper nodded immediately, clearly pleased by the suggestion. "That sounds good." His expression brightened slightly. "Rory taught me how to roast beast meat—it’s incredible."
After a brief pause, he added, more carefully, "I’ll ask her first. If she’s willing, I’ll cook for you both."
Skills learned directly from one’s huntress were not meant to be displayed lightly, not even before family. To offer such a thing carried weight.
Once Bron had been seen off and the matter settled, Jasper turned and headed back toward the cabin, his steps quickening as his thoughts inevitably returned to Rory.
It was unusually quiet.
The humanoid assistant informed him that Rory was resting in her room.
He didn’t want to disturb her—but something felt wrong.
"Where are Nix and Burnt Dumpling?" Jasper asked.
When the robot calmly replied that both had entered Rory’s room as well, something inside Jasper snapped.
His serpent tail lashed violently across the living room, smashing furniture and sending fragments flying. His scales bristled, and murderous intent flooded his dark purple-black eyes.
They had crossed a line.
Entering Rory’s room while she rested was unforgivable.
Clenching his fists, Jasper forced himself to restrain his fury and moved toward her door. He input the command, opening it as silently as possible. He didn’t want to wake her—only to drag those two idiots out.
Inside, Rory slept peacefully.
She wore a pale lilac nightgown, a Cosmic Satin blanket draped loosely over her slender legs. Her breathing was slow, even.
Jasper moved like a shadow.
Then he saw Nix—curled up comfortably in her arms.
His eyes flashed red.
Nix was her suitor. As long as he didn’t disturb her, Jasper could tolerate it.
But then he saw Burnt Dumpling.
That damn bird was nestled far too close.
Cold killing intent poured from Jasper in waves. His hand extended, ready to seize the bird and end it—
Then Rory stirred.
Her lashes fluttered.
The moment her eyes snapped open, they locked onto Jasper’s stunned, flustered gaze.
For a heartbeat, her mind went completely blank.
Jasper froze.
He was finished.
He’d woken her.
His entire body went rigid, his tail writhing uncontrollably against the floor. He wanted to explain—needed to—but his mouth refused to cooperate.
Not a single word came out.
He could only stand there, shaking, as panic overtook him.
