Chapter 134: Uniform

Rory followed Vincent into his room.

It was her first time entering it.

His bedroom was impeccably neat and simply furnished. Aside from the bathroom, there was a modest walk-in closet crafted from spatial stone.

But the largest space in his suite was the study.

Built entirely of spatial stone, it rose as high as a dozen floors. The ceiling displayed a complete star map of the interstellar empire. Bookshelves lined the walls, filled to the brim. Near the window stood an enormous desk covered with advanced equipment—devices Rory had never even seen before.

There were also detailed models of warships and weapons, and a smaller, carefully arranged reading corner.

On the eastern side, another even larger room made of spatial stone housed an entire arsenal.

Vincent took Rory’s hand and led her to sit in the chair before his desk.

"Rory, sit here for a moment. I’m going to change. I’ll be right back."

As he turned to leave, she grabbed his hand. "What exactly do you need my help with?"

She truly couldn’t imagine how she could be of assistance here.

Vincent bent down and kissed her lips, smiling gently. "You’ll know very soon."

What was so mysterious?

Rory watched him leave the study, puzzled.

Just as he stepped out, her light-brain chimed. It was a call from Jasper.

"Rory, did Vincent take you out of the manor? I went to your room and couldn’t find you."

After finishing in the kitchen, Jasper had gone looking for her and assumed Vincent had taken her somewhere.

"I’m in Vincent’s room," she replied. "He said he needs my help with something."

Relieved to know where she was, Jasper softened.

"All right. I just wanted to know where you were. I’m going to train for a while. I’ll come find you afterward."

Recently, Jasper had felt an increasing sense of pressure. Rory’s other matched partners were all stronger than him. He had to advance quickly and secure his place.

Even though Rory didn’t care about hierarchy and still treated him kindly, he couldn’t rely on favor alone.

In their world, rank determined standing.

"Focus on your training," Rory said gently. "Don’t worry about me. I’ll take care of myself."

She knew Vincent and the others had put pressure on him.

But pressure wasn’t always bad. Pressure created drive. She believed her little serpent would catch up.

After hanging up, her gaze drifted to the massive warship model in the study.

This must be the type used on the extraterritorial battlefield.

Even at one ten-thousandth of the real size, it looked incredible.

One day, she wanted to see the outer territories herself. Since coming to Astrium, she had never left its core regions.

"Rory." Vincent’s voice sounded from the doorway.

She looked up.

He stood there in full military uniform, walking toward her step by step.

The polished soles of his boots brushed softly against the carpet’s edge. The triple-star insignia on his shoulders caught the light sharply, contrasting against the curved spines of ancient books behind him.

He looked like the central axis of a battlefield—upright, commanding. The fitted belt emphasized his waistline like a drawn tactical line across a war map.

Half his face was cast in shadow, but the sharpness in his eyes remained unmistakable.

"I have a video conference shortly, so I need to wear my uniform. You don’t mind, do you?" His voice was warm.

The uniform still carried the cold scent of steel and gunpowder.

The contrast was dizzying.

Rory nearly forgot to breathe. She quickly shook her head.

"No. It’s my first time seeing you in uniform."

Beast God... What kind of unfair beauty was this?

Vincent smiled and leaned closer, bracing his arms on either side of her against the warship model.

"Then... do you like how I look in uniform?"

Were he and Yuel trained in the same academy? How were they both so good at this?

"I like it," Rory admitted honestly. "Very much."

Vincent’s amber eyes darkened, sparkles flickering within. "Rory... help me."

His arm tightened around her waist. In one smooth motion, he lifted her onto his desk.

His lips claimed hers.

Papers scattered to the floor.

Her mind blurred beneath his kiss.

She had no idea how "help" had turned into this.

The heat in the study rose steadily.

His lips trailed along her neck.

"Rory... I’m hot."

He took her hand and guided it to the buttons of his uniform. "Undo them for me. Please?"

She swallowed hard. Her soft fingers pressed against the cool silver buttons, one by one revealing the fitted gray shirt beneath.

Soon, the uniform jacket fell away.

Then the shirt.

Her slightly damp palm rested against his firm abdomen, the coolness drawing a low sound from his throat.

"Mm." He held her tightly, breathing in her scent as if starved for it.

She was still inexperienced—too shy when she knew what to do, completely lost when she didn’t.

He didn’t dare push too far. If he frightened her, she might avoid him next time.

Instead, he lifted her gently and carried her to the reading nook.

He laid her down on the small sofa there.

With a flick of his ability, he summoned his discarded uniform from the floor and draped it over her.

Then he brushed his teeth lightly over her earlobe. "Rory, wait for me. I’ll be back soon."

Her face was crimson.

Irresistible. It took all his restraint to step away.

"Go... then."

She knew exactly where he was going.

Her cheeks burned even hotter.

He kissed her once more before reluctantly leaving.

Rory lay there in the soft reading sofa, tugging at her ruined clothes, staring at the silver-gray uniform covering her.

Her thoughts were still tangled in the memory of his controlled, quiet dominance.

Yuel flirted openly.

Vincent looked proper and restrained—but he was the most dangerous of them all.

Compared to him, Jasper and Nix seemed almost... inexperienced.

After resting a moment, she pulled a fresh outfit from her spatial ring and changed.

She folded Vincent’s uniform neatly and placed it on the table beside her.

Just as she stood up, her light-brain rang again.
