The wind howled as Vex Talon dismounted from his Rhino-Bat, his long dark coat billowing gloriously like a war banner.

Vex Talon glanced over, cursing, his hands grabbing the head of the white tiger and twisting its neck.

"Fucking shit, I just kicked away its blast. How did two of you die from it?"

His words were calm and apathetic.

As if commenting on the weather.

He moved rapidly to where cases of the Natural Nanotech Blood Serums lay beside the lifeless doctor, with those the Vagrant Beast Master held already floating behind him. With a wave of his hand, the cases floated up under his terrifying control and power.

When he saw the girl's body, he paused—then just shrugged.

He turned toward the young man.

The one whose expression was ashen, filled with horror and utter disbelief as he looked at his dead friend.

"Uh, hey man, sorry for your girl there. Collateral damage and all that, you know? Vagrant Beast Masters can be tricky..."

He uttered these words as the young man looked toward him with incredulity and disbelief.

Vex Talon continued walking toward him, an apologetic expression on his face.
