Insect Tamer's Ascension-Chapter 406. A ripple in space: taming the 2nd beast
The moment Theo heard that, his eyes widened. Lucien’s beast materialized out of his beast space, and Theo watched as an ape charged toward the two beasts right away.
By the time the stag noticed the beast, the ape had already smashed its head with both fists, making it slow and stagger. The ape then raised its hands once more before slamming them down with enough strength to break the poor creature’s neck.

Theo saw the level and then the strength it displayed, and he quickly grew curious and confused at the same time.
’Our Ape isn’t that strong, and it’s level 10... maybe it’s stronger with the sword in hand, but not with its fists... or is it?’ Theo didn’t know what to think.
Things had become serious far too quickly.
The mantis tried to rush toward the beasts to join the fight, only for Lucien to grab Theo’s shoulder.
"DON’T LET IT KILL THE PANTHER," Lucien said in a commanding voice.
Theo didn’t like it one bit, but he nodded. Lucien was the leader right now, whether he liked it or not.
He stopped the matis from advancing yet again, which made it send angry emotions through the bond this time. Theo told it to wait for its turn, though the mantis only grew more grumpy.
Still, it returned without causing trouble.
"I have been going around this forest looking for the right beast to tame but had no luck until now..." Lucien said, his hands clenched into fists.
He looked at Theo with eyes that said ’Thank you’, even though he didn’t say anything aloud.
Theo felt conflicted. The way Lucien was acting made this situation seem like he thought Theo was the main reason for this success.
And Theo didn’t like the sound of that at all and wanted to have a talk with him, but this didn’t seem like the right moment.
Still, Theo didn’t want to delay it forever.
"Big brother, let’s have a conversation once we are back home," Theo said seriously.
Lucien nodded before turning to look at the ape, which was now carrying the panther in its arms.
The panther was completely unconscious, but when Lucien stepped closer and checked its vitals, he found that it was still very much alive.
"Sir Knight, can you cover for me? I will tame this beast right now," Lucien requested.
Rhys looked at him for a moment before nodding.
Lucien placed a hand on the panther’s face while it lay unconscious, and at that moment, Theo felt a ripple pass through the space between them.
Theo tried focusing on it, but the ripple had only lasted for an instant.
It almost felt like it was just a brief flash of light that he had seen through the trees, something that appeared for a moment and vanished before he could find an explanation for it.
But then a notification popped in front of him.
{Ability ’Lesser Spatial Awareness’ leveled up.}
At that moment, everything became clearer as he looked between Lucien and the panther.
’I found something, I halfway understood it, and then I got a level up... sounds about right,’ Theo thought to himself.
They waited for a few minutes, and during that time the mantis went over and started gobbling up the stag on the ground.
And while the other beasts were focused on the stag’s innards, the mantis behaved strangely; it was crunching on the antlers instead.
Theo glanced at Lucien’s ape and couldn’t see a single emotion on its face.
"Good job," Theo said while looking at it.
The ape turned to him, stared for a moment, and then went back to watching the surroundings.
’What has he done to his beast?’ Theo frowned at the thought, just as Rhys tapped his shoulder.
He gestured for him to come to the side, which Theo followed. Clara received the signal to stay behind and protect Lucien instead, which she immediately began doing.
Once they were far enough away to talk without interruptions, yet still close enough to protect Lucien, Rhys finally spoke.
"Young Master Lucien seems to be thinking you’re a lucky charm... have you told him your stats, young master?" Rhys asked.
Theo simply nodded his head, curious as to what Rhys was getting at.
"And by the looks of it, your luck is quite high, young master. I realized that while I saw you travel during the early days..." Rhys nodded.
"But... I would advise you not to tell anyone about it, young master... just like what happened today, it might happen many times in the future too." Rhys tried to explain.
"...I understand, Sir Knight. Thank you for the insight."
’Okay, so he really was using me, huh... I did not expect that from him,’ Theo thought as he walked back to the group.
The panther was huffing as if it were on its deathbed, while Lucien’s eyebrows were creased tightly.
Theo tried to notice that strange ripple again, but nothing happened.
For the next five minutes, not a single beast approached them. However, Theo spotted numerous eagle-like beasts circling high above in the sky.
They felt like bad news.
Since the mantis could hear his thoughts, it secretly began climbing the trees. But now that it had grown so large, Theo noticed it right away, though he chose not to stop it.
The mantis kept climbing the trees without pause until it disappeared completely into the canopy, vanishing from his sight.
They waited another two minutes until Theo finally saw the same ripple again between them. This time, the ripples touched each other before bouncing back.
Theo didn’t understand what it meant, but Lucien’s eyes suddenly opened wide, and he got back on his feet.
"Was it successful?" his attendant asked.
Lucien smiled, making the attendant silently throw his arms up in dramatic celebration.
Lucien quickly uncorked a few bottles of high-grade potions and forced the panther to gulp them down. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
After a moment, he looked at Theo and noticed his brother frowning at him.
