Insect Tamer's Ascension-Chapter 382. The royal academy huh
Theo just looked at her and said nothing in response. Clara could tell from that expression that her words had already entered his thoughts.
But instead of addressing it, Theo just clicked his tongue. "Have you finished learning the fabric studies, Clara? That book is still with you."
Theo’s words made Clara stare at him, her mouth agape.
Her face clearly screamed, ’Are you seriously starting that conversation right now?’
But in the end, she couldn’t say anything.
"You both can go meet your parents or study. We will meet in the morning now. Bye."
Before either of them could respond, Theo began pushing them out of the room and shut the door behind them.
The two stood outside the room for a moment in awkward silence before eventually walking away.
Theo spent the entire night thinking about what he should do from now on.
’I have the lesser aura now, so I need to work on making it better.’
’The ants need to grow stronger too... well, first, finding them a good environment will be better... maybe the moss slime territory? If I stay close enough, the hive link will also remain active...’
’Then there is Mantis too; it is strong, but you can never be too strong. And I need to make it evolve too.’
’That evolution might help trigger my breakthrough, or at least push me closer to it.’
He exhaled slowly.
’There’s so much I need to do. Is there really a need for me to enter the academy?’ He finally asked himself.
After tending to all the insects in the terrarium room, Theo returned to his bedroom, pacing around as he tried to find a solution to all this.
Soon enough, he saw something on his bedside table which caught his interest.
When Theo got close, he noticed that it was a letter, which made him even more curious.
"Ron?"
Theo opened the letter right away. The handwriting in the letter could be considered normal according to this world’s standards, but it wasn’t that elegant.
_____
I heard what happened through the rumors. They say you ran away because you didn’t want to reveal your beast.
That does sound like you, but I think there’s more to it.
Remember Instructor Enren Kael? The one who sent you to the head instructor. He feels really guilty about you leaving; he thinks it was his fault.
Gaaahhh, I misss you so much; it doesn’t feel the same in the academy anymore, even though we were only together for two days.
I hope you can return after you have figured things out... or if you have a change of plans.
Actually, never mind. I think I may be able to find what you’re doing currently.
Your very good friend,
Ron
_____
’Such a random letter...’
Theo didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
The letter sounded like it had been written by someone whose thoughts were too scattered to form a coherent sentence.
Theo couldn’t help but laugh out loud after rereading it, with how Ron-like the message was.
In the night, he slept in a good mood.
When he woke up the next morning, the first thing he did was ask Clara to make his favorite meal.
"I have waited so long to eat this Golden Hearth Stew."
Theo had literal tears in his eyes as he spoke. He ate really fast and asked for seconds without even considering whether it would be alright if he ate so much today.
"Even the royal castle didn’t have food like this."
"Now you’re just exaggerating, young master," Clara said, smiling as she handed him another bowl, which Theo began gobbling down the moment it was cool enough to eat.
"Oh, and also, I think I am a little close to making my decision about entering an academy again or not," he added casually.
Clara stopped, then turned to him with a bright, hopeful smile.
"What are you close to, young master?"
Theo couldn’t help but smile after seeing her face. Her happiness was just too contagious.
"I am close to deciding that I should go to the academy."
Theo saw the big spoon in Clara’s hand slip and drop in slow motion. For a moment, he wanted to go and catch it before it dropped, but he knew the reality already.
There were still moments which he might be able to see, but that didn’t mean he could be at the same pace with his body, which was something he was getting used to.
"I AM SOO HAPPYY!!" Clara shouted, throwing her hands in the air.
Watching her getting happy for him, Theo couldn’t help but feel a warm, simple creep across his face.
"It’s only for three years," he said. "And I think I have gained enough strength to back myself as well."
Then, his expression turned thoughtful. "But I will need to make a few arrangements before doing that, Clara."
"Oh! Is there anything I can help you with?" she asked, her eyes all sparkly.
"Yes. Tell the head butler to locate as many ant colonies near the forest as he can. I will need them as soon as possible."
Clara didn’t even ask what he meant by that. She quickly cleaned everything off the table and hurried off to deliver the instruction, while Theo sat down and wrote a letter to Ron.
He chose his words carefully, keeping the contents as discreet as possible in the rare and unpleasant possibility that the academy itself might open the letter, which was worse to even think of.
Theo decided to add stuff like he might be joining the Royal Academy. He didn’t know why he felt like sharing that, but Ron seemed like the kind of genuine guy he could build a lasting connection with.
At that moment, another name surfaced in his mind.
’Hmm... I feel like I should send a letter to Eliane too... but that would definitely be weird since she didn’t send any to me,’ Theo thought and dropped the idea right there.
’Meeting Ron won’t be happening for years now. But with Eliane... I feel I might just meet her at a noble gathering during the academy holidays.’
’Now, the question comes again: should I or should I not enter the academy again?’
