Infinity Is My Affinity?!?-Chapter 111: For The Real Test...
-Thud! Thud! Thud! Thud! Thud! Thud! Thud!...
The entire stone floor was basically vibrating from the horde thrashing against the barricade of roots I had placed to net some alone time with Pookie.
I stood there about ten feet back from the barricade, just watching those thick roots bow inward.
"Alright, System," I muttered, rolling my shoulders to adjust the shotgun’s sling biting in. "Let’s take our little theory out for a spin."
I didn’t even wait for Mr. Cynical to respond. I just started booting up the programs in my head.
First up, the background apps.
I dropped 2Mp/s straight into Precognition, instantly stretching my perception two seconds into the immediate future before pouring in 1MP/s into the Domain. And finally, I trickled 2Mp/s right into my brainstem, locking in the baseline cognitive boost from Ice Reinforcement.
Five MP a second. Locked and steady.
And with the background apps running smoothly, I brought the actual hammer down.
I flooded my body with 40MP/s of evenly distributed Ice Reinforcement, slamming it with the freezing calm and the aggressive multiplication of my physical stats that, on top of enhancing my strength, also pushed my already heightened cognitive processing straight into overdrive, along with turning my body into the perfect conduit of Ice Magic.
As the dim, moss-lit cavern around me sharpened to a razor’s edge, I raised both my hands, levelling them directly at the centre of the wooden barricade before extending my index and middle fingers like a pair of finger guns
The ambient moisture in the damp air flash-froze in a heartbeat as four high-density AP Ice Pebbles, two before each finger-gun materialized out of thin air.
With a smirk and one last deep breath, I routed a single, effortless thought through my active Domain.
And the next moment, the thick roots at the dead center of the barricade slithered apart, opening a perfectly thirty-centimeter murder slit directly into the screaming horde.
A dozen ugly green faces instantly jammed themselves into the gap, their bloodshot eyes widened in rabid fury just as I pulled the metephoritical trigger of my four Gatling guns.
-Ta! Ta! Ta! Ta! Ta! Ta! Ta!...
Shooting high-density AP pebbles through a thirty-centimeter gap was less of a fight and more of a high-pressure meat grinder. And since there was absolutely zero recoil to throw off my aim, I just kept my finger-guns perfectly steady as the ice tore straight through their bodies like wet tissue paper.
Because of the AP modifier, each pebble didn’t just stop at the first ugly green mug, it ripped clean through at least three of them before finally losing momentum in the crush of bodies.
Honestly, since I had already kited and slaughtered about half of this exact horde before locking myself in with Pookie, thinning out the rest of these guys didn’t take much.
With my two-second Precognition running in the background, it was just systematic pest control. I knew exactly where they were going to shove their faces before they even did it.
But even with the rapid-fire AP Pebbles, the sheer weight of the dead and dying piling up against the wood was taking its toll. The thick roots holding the archway groaned loudly as their structural integrity rapidly failed under the mindless horde.
I just dropped two of my four active Ice Pebbles to instantly free up 10 MP and seamlessly redirected that 10 MP straight into Dominium Radicis.
The roots instantly thickened and hardened, locking the barricade right back into place without me ever having to stop the slaughter while I kept the meat grinder running until the deafening shrieks on the other side finally thinned out into a manageable racket.
Once the horde was whittled down to a measly ten or twenty stragglers, I let a slow grin creep across my face.
I completely cut the mana feed to the Ice Pebbles and Dominium Radicis
Reaching down to my waist, I wrapped my hand around the hilt of the Grade 9 Adamantite Khukri and drew it free while slamming the newly freed bandwidth into a full 60 MP/s Ice Reinforcement, letting the absolute maximum physical multiplier lock into my muscles.
"Now for the real test," I muttered.
With a single mental command, I completely dissolved the wooden barricade.
And the next moment, the remaining goblins violently spilled into the moss-lit chamber, absolutely drenched from head to toe in the pulverized green gore of their own kind and screaming bloody murder.
I didn’t even give them a fraction of a second to register the room.
Thanks to the 1 MP/s Domain steadily radiating out from my boots, I didn’t even need to look at them. My spatial awareness acted like a flawless, 360-degree sixth sense, instantly mapping out the exact position, posture, and momentum of every single screeching monster in the cavern.
Splicing the 60 MP/s feed to my Ice Reinforcement, I dumped my entire capacity straight into Temporal Step, leaving my five-mana background apps running completely untouched.
The exact microsecond I did, the world slowed down to an absolute crawl.
And thanks to the steady 2 MP/s cognitive boost, my mind processed the battlefield effortlessly, picking through the massive influx of spatial data without a single stutter as I dragged my Exit Point straight to the goblin furthest in the back of the pack, locked it in, and-
-Kzzzt-!
I popped into existence right behind the ugly bastard, seamlessly routing all 60 MP/s right back into Ice Reinforcement before the one-second decay buffer could even register the dip.
The 2 MP/s Precognition running in the background instantly fed me two seconds of the immediate future. I already knew exactly how the monster’s neck would give way, how its head would spin, and the precise trajectory of every single drop of infectious blood. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
-Slash-!
The curved Adamantite blade sheared through its thick neck like hot butter before I casually tilted my shoulder a fraction of an inch to the left, letting the geyser of toxic blood spray harmlessly past my cheek.
And before the severed head even reached the apex of its spin, I cut the 60 MP feed and spliced again.
-Kzzzt-!
Blinking into existence behind the next target, I instantly restored the physical multiplier and took its head clean off before stepping effortlessly out of the way of the resulting gore before it even erupted.
By the time the goblins charging at the front of the pack even realized I was no longer standing at the entrance, I had already killed three of them.
And that was when the real massacre started.
The cavern devolved into an absolute blur of slaughter and crumpled reality, guided by a perfectly synchronized blend of future-sight and 360-degree radar while I blinked around the chaotic mob in perfectly timed stutters, popping into existence at wild, impossible angles.
I was basically a ghost, leaving a continuous trail of shattered space-time and heads spinning in the air in my wake as I systematically dismantled the remaining horde.
I’d appear, cleanly take off a head, dodge the blood spray like it was a choreographed dance, before violently glitching out of reality before any of them could even blink.
The entire sweep took less than ten seconds, at the end of which-
-Thud-Thud-Thud.
I flicked the green blood off my blade as the final three headless goblins fell, their bodies hitting the ground at the exact same time.
"And once again... I stand corrected." I couldn’t help but smirk.
