Chapter 464: Chapter 462: Regrouping

Second Day...

The sky was still burning with fire and magic, and Alexa stood on one of the floating stepping stones, her arms tired and her swords heavy in her hands, watching the battle as people screamed and dragons roared, everything feeling like it was never going to end

"AAAHHHHH!" Then suddenly she heard a loud scream from below.

Alexa’s eyes snapped down. Below her, a guild member—one she didn’t even recognize—was thrashing in the grip of a dragon’s jaws. The beast’s teeth clamped down, lifting the screaming person high into the air like a toy.

"Alexa! Alexa!!"

Voices called her name but Alexa didn’t turn. Her gaze was fixed on the victim below, and just for a moment—just a second too long—she was distracted.

A huge shadow passed over her.

"LOOK OUT!!"

Too late.

With terrifying speed, a dragon dove, its sharp beak-like snout striking Alexa directly in the side sending her body flying off the stone, her body spinning through the sky as everything around her became a blur of light, fire, and wind.

She didn’t even scream, just felt the wind rushing around her as she fell, and then a flash of silver and blue came from above—Lauren, flying faster than anyone could imagine, hands outstretched as she controlled the wind with her powers.

A gust of controlled wind slowed Alexa’s fall, just enough for her to land on her back, safely near the grass below the wall.

"Haa...haa... I’m fine...!" Alexa gasped, sitting up and clutching her stomach.

"No—focus on the others, Auntie!" Alexa forced herself to her knees. "They need you more!"

Lauren hesitated in the air. But just as she turned—

"AAAHHH!!"

Another scream came from above, and a woman was falling, her arms reaching out and her weapon spinning away from her fingers, and Lauren tried to fly to her, but it was too far, and just before she could reach, a dragon swooped down and caught the woman in its mouth, flying away with her without even slowing down.

Lauren shouted in anger, the wind around her bursting out as Alexa forced herself to stand, watching the sky with a sharp breath. All around them, people were falling or being taken, and even the strong guilds were beginning to lose members one by one.

The dragons weren’t attacking randomly anymore—they were hunting, targeting those who were weak or tired or couldn’t fight anymore.

They were losing people, and the dragons weren’t stopping.

Alexa looked up at the global system screen floating high in the smoky sky, her chest tightening as the numbers changed before her eyes—24 guilds remaining dropped to 19 in a matter of seconds.

Her lips pressed into a thin line, and she clenched her fists even though her body was still sore. A healer rushed to her side, kneeling down without a word and placing glowing hands on Alexa’s stomach and ribs, where bruises were already turning purple beneath her armor.

Alexa looked at the healer’s face and saw nothing but fear her eyes wide, lips pale, hands trembling as she focused her magic. Alexa could tell the girl wanted to cry, wanted to scream, but she kept going, silently pouring her mana into healing the wounds.

When it was done, Alexa gave her a nod of thanks, stood without hesitation, and jumped back onto the floating stepping stones. She started running again, her steps steady but fast across the shaky platforms of magic and stone, and then she shouted as loud as she could.

"Regroup! We need to regroup! Everyone—stop scattering!" Her voice echoed across the sky, cutting through the screams and the roars and the howling wind, and a few people turned their heads toward her.

"Back down! Regroup near the outer wall!" someone else started shouting, echoing her call, and soon more voices followed—guild members calling to each other, repeating her words as mages began to shift their floating stones back toward the city wall.

Then Alexa leaped to another stepping stone and saw a figure falling from above, arms flailing, her body tumbling too fast toward the ground.

Without thinking, Alexa threw herself flat on her stomach, reaching out both arms. "Grab my hand!" she shouted, just as the woman’s fingers brushed hers.

Alexa caught her wrist tightly, her own body nearly sliding off the edge from the force.

The woman screamed once in panic, then gasped in relief as Alexa grunted and pulled with all her strength. "M-Ms. Alexa!" the woman cried, clinging to her hand with everything she had.

Alexa recognized the face—it was Dayanara Cruz, the guildmaster from Mandirigma Guild of the Philippines.

With a strong heave, Alexa pushed her up and threw her toward the next stepping stone just ahead. Dayanara landed hard but safe, panting on her knees.

Alexa looked at her and nodded quickly. "Dayanara, regroup with the others! We can’t be scattered like this. If we stay spread out, the dragons will pick us off one by one."

Alexa then turned and waved to another group nearby, calling, "Pull everyone together! Find your guilds, stick with the mages, and fall back to the main line!"

Her plan was clear: stop the chaos, gather the living, and prepare for the next wave—because if they didn’t form a proper front soon, there might not be enough people left by sunrise.

Choi Jieun was floating gracefully in the air, her lotus petals spinning beneath her feet like a soft platform, glowing faintly with mana as she moved through the smoky skies, her eyes constantly searching.

She saw more people drifting too far from the others, some nearly getting swooped by the dragons, and without hesitating, she reached out her hand and pulled one back with a strong gust of wind from her petals, then turned and caught another person by the arm, spinning to drag them back toward the regrouping area.

Her voice rang clear through the chaos, "Stick together! Don’t drift away! Back to the wall!"

High above, Min Yoonji floated on Choi Jieun lotus petals, her dark cloak fluttering behind her as her scythe gleamed with a strange light. She spotted a group of three guild members floating too far toward the east side, dangerously close to a dragon’s flight path.

She cupped her hands around her mouth and shouted, "Seoha! Take those guys! They’re going too far!"

Then she turned midair and swung her scythe with both hands, her blade releasing a wide, dark wave of energy that roared forward and slammed into the wings of a dragon lunging toward her.

The dragon screeched in pain, its flight breaking midair as it flapped wildly to regain balance.
