Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 1121: Final
It was about time for that cringe-fest to end… if those two weren't to show up right now, they never would. In any case, it seemed that Sealyn was thinking along those lines as well because when Rain was about to leave the room, she also appeared at the entrance of the arena.
Sealyn always had this look on her face that looked like she didn't know the meaning of the word relax. It was quite funny, considering that she was such a crybaby before. Seeing her now only made Rain recall the last times he saw her before he went MIA.
"I must be getting old, getting all sentimental like this," Rain thought. "Well, I always have been like this."
Before long, both of them reached the ring and jumped on it.
The hushed anticipation fell over the audience like a heavy blanket as Rain and Sealyn took their positions in the ring. The spectators, fully aware of the historical significance of this father-daughter clash, leaned forward, their eyes fixed on the impending battle.
A tangible energy of excitement and curiosity enveloped the air, and the audience collectively held its breath, reluctant to miss even the slightest movement in the spectacle.
Every twist, every turn, and every exchange between Rain and Sealyn had the potential to become a valuable reference for future tournaments, a source of inspiration for aspiring fighters, or even a guide for those facing life-and-death battles. The atmosphere crackled with the palpable hype, each observer eager to witness the culmination of a legacy and the forging of new tales in the arena.
Before long, Sealyn assumed her fighting stance, and it didn't look like she had planned anything fancy against Rain. Her fists were closed, and her left arm was positioned like a shield.
It seemed like a pretty basic stance… Still, it was possible that she would adapt her fighting style during the battle instead of relying from the beginning on what she had learned from the battles in which Rain participated.
"Begin!" Esmeralda shouted.
In the next moment, Sealyn disappeared from everyone's sight and then reappeared while hitting Rain's stomach with her left elbow… Somehow, he reacted in time to block the attack with his right hand, but the impact still pushed his body upward. Before Rain could even begin to fall, Sealyn assumed another stance after moving her arms backward. And then bombarded Rain with a barrage of palm strikes.
Rain raised his arms and blocked all the hits targeting his head and torso with them, and he raised his legs to block the lower strikes with his knees. That worked quite well, but perhaps too well… Rain didn't feel much weight behind the attacks until, all of a sudden, he was pushed backward as if his body suddenly felt the weight of all impacts…
Rain flew to the other side of the arena, and it was clear that he would fall at that rate… Still, before that could happen, Sealyn chased him and positioned herself at the border of the ring, ready to attack Rain; she knew that only that much wouldn't stop him, after all.
By kicking the air, Rain made his body spin in the air backward, and when Sealyn was about to hit him, he was upside down with his arms protecting his upper body again and with his legs ready to strike her as well. With one arm, she attempted to punch his stomach, but the attack was blocked, and with the other, she blocked the kick that Rain had launched.
Still, Rain's attack and defense only had so much power without his footing, and he was pushed backward again… However, he soon touched the floor with his hand and, lowered his speed, and propelled himself to soon stand up. While he was about to fix his posture, Sealyn suddenly appeared in front of him and launched a sideway kick. Rain blocked it with his left elbow, but he only felt a small impact.
Fluid like water and fast as lightning, Sealyn pulled back her leg and immediately pushed her arms backward as well.
"This is…" Rain thought while blinking a single time.
In the next moment, Sealyn hit Rain with a double palm strike, almost mimicking Rain's stance when he uses the same attacking style. Rain didn't have time to block this time, and his stomach was hit completely.
Thrown into the air in the opposite direction by the force of the blow, Rain showed an insane resilience. Despite the pain and disorientation, he managed to maintain consciousness. As he soared through the air, he refused to succumb to the momentum of his trajectory. Instead, he employed a daring and unorthodox move to regain control of the situation.
In a moment of sheer willpower, Rain altered his horizontal flight path by forcefully punching the floor of the arena. This unexpected action acted as a counterforce, enabling him to shift from a horizontal spin to a vertical ascent. Ascending for dozens of meters, Rain defied gravity and expectations.
Then, with calculated precision, he allowed himself to fall back to the ground. The spectators, initially taken aback by the severity of the attack, were now witnessing a breathtaking display of skill and resilience. Rain landed on his feet, standing tall despite the odds stacked against him.
The onlookers were left in awe, completely shocked by the unexpected turn of events at the beginning of the match.
Rain's body throbbed with pain as he fixed himself, ribs aching from the brutal impact. Initially stunned into silence, the crowd erupted into gasps and cheers at the unexpected display of skill. The arena's atmosphere vibrated with energy as spectators struggled to make sense of the lightning-fast battle.
"She was too good to be copying me… few people actually know the advantage of using palm strikes, and it isn't that simple," Rain thought. "Sealyn has muscles and is taller than her mother, but she isn't buffed like me and her grandfather… she must have understood that punching things wouldn't be very efficient with her body."
