Infinite Evolution: My Idle Evolution System-Chapter 348: Shadow Herald’s Arrival, 1st Tower of Babylon
"Time to go," said Cassius as he sauntered into the dreadful scenery visible beyond HELL's Gate.
Stopping ever so briefly, he took one last look at Viola and everyone else he had the honor of getting to know in the world he grew up in.
"Goodbye, everyone."
Those were his final words.
"Come back alive, Cassius…!"
Cassius smiled at the heartfelt shouts of everyone as he vanished into the nightmarish world beyond HELL's Gate. The doors closed thereafter, with the entire Gate completely disappearing in the next instant.
— An unspecified amount of time later —
HELL had seven Floors, just like the rest of the Towers, and, like them, it had a very unique geographical and hierarchical layout. Each Floor was ruled over by a specific number of Demon Kings—three for the 1st Floor, six for the 2nd Floor, ten for the 3rd Floor, and so on.
To enter the next Floors, one had the option of either cutting a deal with the leading Demon Kings or their representatives. Or they could fight them, kill them, and take the key that granted entry to the next Floor.
There were very few who chose the latter option, as it essentially meant making an enemy of all of HELL. Not because the Demon Kings cared for one another, but because killing one of them was seen as a direct tarnishing of their honor.
However, an extremely unusual and unexplainable phenomenon among the Demon Kings of HELL—and another reason so few chose option two—was their ability to always return to life. This led to eternal blood feuds between them and the invaders, and more often than not, the invader would wind up on the losing end.
Some weeks after Cassius's ascension through the Floors of HELL, a demonic energy source created a violent whirlwind in the City of Scafor. After making a large enough commotion and startling various demon-kind, a livid face dispersed the surrounding energies with just the raw power of fury.
"CASSIUS!!!!"
Similar bellows echoed from outside the other two cliffside Palaces as the three Demon Kings of HELL's 1st Floor felt their blood boil like volcanoes. Almost immediately, they shot up into the ashy skies, planning to take the shortcut leading to the 2nd Floor of HELL.
They knew for certain that the human cretin had gone straight to HELL after killing them. And no matter what price they had to pay, they would show him the cost of incurring their wrath—!
Or not…
"This is…"
Upon arriving at the 2nd Floor of HELL, Demon King Andromalius and the other two were astonished to find Cassius's face everywhere.
Waving it around, parading with it, even cuddling with it—members of demon-kind openly displayed their obsession.
This was…
What in the absolute fuck were they witnessing!?
Approaching a 50-meter-tall Demon Behemoth wearing a picture of Cassius on his forehead, Demon King Andromalius demanded, "What the hell are you all doing!? Where is Demon King Decarabia and the others!??"
"Hm?" The Demon Behemoth curiously looked down, his joyous smile still plastered across his horrific face. "The Demon Kings were put on permanent vacation, man. Where have you been living—under a rock or something?"
"Permanent vacation!?" Andromalius's eyes dramatically widened. "What does that mean!??"
"Chill, dude," said the Demon Behemoth as he pointed toward a massive spiraling structure in the distance that hadn't been there the last time Andromalius visited. "The Grand Savior gave us salvation, and in his unlimited grace, he erected that tower over there—the 1st Tower of Babylon. That's where he sent the previous tyrannical Rulers… where they're now forever chained and trapped."
What in Satan's name was this dumbf*cker talking about!? What unlimited grace!? What salvation!??
That human was more demon than a demon!
And did this idiot just say something about trapping the Demon Kings!?
"Tell me more!" Andromalius shouted frantically. "I command it!"
The Demon Behemoth's smile faded into a slight frown. "Under the Grand Savior's gracious rule, HELL's Floors have achieved true peace. Once he concludes the Holy Crusade and converts the 5th, 6th, and 7th Floors, HELL will know unity like never before. So who are you to tell me what to do?"
"I'm a Demon King!" Andromalius retorted angrily. "You must obey me!"
"Must I?" The Demon Behemoth conjured a floating purple sigil with a sword and a scythe crossed over each other in the middle. "One word through this Savior's Sigil, and a Herald of the Grand Savior will descend. Whether or not you're a Demon King won't matter one single bit. Everything is equal under the Grand Savior. I suggest you take what I told you and be on your way."
Demon King Andromalius's anger surged like a raging tsunami. "Do it!! See if I'm scared—"
*Beep!*
A connection was made without hesitation on the Demon Behemoth's part. Internal whisperings transferred through as the Demon eyed the three Demon Kings.
"Andromalius…" Demon King Seer muttered, a bad feeling festering inside him. "Why did you do that…!?"
OOOOM!
A massive pillar of crimson light descended from the heavens. Shock etched itself across the faces of the Demon Kings as they watched a shadowy figure emerge from within the light pillar.

"Shadow Herald!" The Demon Behemoth called out as the shadowy figure scanned the area with a cold glare. "It's them! They're the unruly ones disrupting the peace!"
Looking over, the shadowy figure bore into the flimsy souls of the Demon Kings.
"!!!" "!!!" "!!!"
'Is this a Shadow Herald!? Why does it feel like a Werewolf from the Wolfdom Dimension!? What the sh*t is going on here!??'
In their astonishment, they blinked.
The Shadow Herald moved.
SHING!
Their legs and arms vanished, blood splattering through the ashy air.
"Ahhgghh!!!" They screamed in agony, wailing in pain.
The Shadow Herald emotionlessly stared at their limbless figures. Then, in a flash, he grabbed them all and soared toward the 1st Tower of Babylon like a blazing star.
"That's what they get," scoffed the Demon Behemoth before continuing about his day as per usual.
Demons had gathered around the commotion, but they too returned to their daily routines. And just like that, the Demonic Imperial Capital, Hellsmen, returned to its usual state, as if nothing had happened.
