Chapter 123: Escape at Midnight

"Stab her with a sword?! Are you crazy? That will kill her!" Rose snapped, not wanting Allana to die.

"Then did she ever think that stabbing me could kill me too? In fact, she coated her sword with poison!" Aiden said firmly.

Aiden choked Allana’s neck with his left hand, while his right hand was raised to shoulder height. Fire magic appeared on the palm of his hand and manifested into a magical fire sword.

Rose grew increasingly panicked. She even threatened to report the incident to Henry, so he would punish Aiden and his dragons. But Aiden didn’t care.

"So, you agree to let your daughter die?" Aiden asked. Rose remained silent, her hands clenched tightly, holding back her anger.

"Let me take Allana’s place!" Rose pleaded, her eyes brimming with tears.

Aiden remained silent, then turned his head to the side, gazing at Allana, who was struggling to resist with a panicked, terrified expression. It wasn’t just Aiden she feared, but also the three dragons behind his back.

"Just kill me. This is our grudge! It’s between us!" Allana said defiantly, challenging Aiden.

The man in front of Allana grew even more furious, his right hand trembling with rage at Allana’s provocation. But Aiden let out a long sigh.

He thought of his parents. If he acted rashly here and Rose reported it to Henry, Henry would kick his parents out. That would not be good for them.

With all his strength, Aiden threw Allana forward, catching her completely in Rose’s arms.

The woman in the purple dress was startled, her eyes widening as she saw Aiden throw his daughter toward her, no longer threatening Allana with death.

"You..."

Rose felt a little relieved, but she had to remain vigilant toward Aiden, especially since he had three dragon friends.

"Forget about it."

Aiden flew low through the night clouds. Aurora and the others saw Aiden’s attitude, the three of them transformed back into human form in different flashes of light. The three flew down from the sky following Aiden.

Rose followed what Aiden did. The woman arrived at her residence, while Aiden arrived at the front yard of the Hurd family residence.

The incident seemed to have attracted the attention of many people, from the servants to Feyd’s team.

"Aiden? Are you okay? What exactly happened?" asked Feyd.

Aiden removed his two wings of fire magic, then stepped away from the Hurd family residence. Aurora and the others followed suit, leaving the place and following Aiden.

Rose told Allana to rest. Tonight’s events must have been quite shocking and traumatic for Allana. Rose didn’t expect Aiden to have power equal to hers. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

After seeing Allana return to her room, Rose hurried to the front door. There, she saw that Aiden and his team had left, leaving only Feyd’s team behind.

"Where is he?" asked Rose.

"He went to the city, Mistress Rose," said Feyd.

"Follow them and find out where they are staying. Don’t let them know you are following them!" Rose said firmly.

Feyd was even more confused by Rose’s orders, but orders were orders. After all, Rose was still his mistress, he couldn’t argue with her.

"Yes, Mistress Rose."

Feyd and his team nodded obediently. They hurriedly left the Hurd family residence to follow where Aiden and his team had gone.

Aurora asked again why Aiden had let Allana go, even though the woman had stabbed him. Aiden remained silent, not responding. His heart was indeed angry and wanted to kill Allana, but he was far more concerned about his parents’ condition.

The best choice Aiden had to make, even though he didn’t like it, was to let Allana live and close the case. Aiden only hoped he wouldn’t meet them again; one time was enough for Aiden.

They found an inn on the edge of town, a bit small but suitable for them, away from the Hurd family. Aiden booked two rooms with large beds, one room for the girls and another for Aiden and Joe.

Feyd and his team found the location of Aiden’s inn. Feyd smiled, praising Aiden’s cleverness in choosing an inn that wasn’t crowded with guests. But Aiden’s cleverness was so naive.

"You should have left the city if you didn’t want to be followed by the Hurd family, not stay here," explained Feyd.

"We’ve found them. We should return immediately and inform Mistress Rose," explained one of the team members.

Feyd nodded. After confirming that Aiden and the others were staying at the inn, Feyd and the rest of his team returned to the Hurd family residence.

"How did it go?" asked Aurora.

They already knew! Yes, Aiden already knew that the Hurd family’s team was coming to spy on them. Aiden knew because he heard their voices when they arrived in this deserted area.

"They’re gone," said Aiden.

"Hmm, there must be a reason why Rose chased us all the way here," said Amber.

"That’s right, and it’s not a good one."

"Then, what should we do?" asked Aurora.

"We’ll wait until midnight. After that, we’ll leave when the city is quiet."

Amber and the others nodded. Whatever Aiden decided was definitely the best decision for them. They just had to obey Aiden’s words.

Three hours before midnight, Amber and the others spent their time enjoying food in the city center. There were no signs that Rose would come. Aiden’s guess was that Rose would come tomorrow.

Time passed quickly, and Aiden spent the night in his room. Just before midnight, Amber and the others arrived as Aiden had ordered—back before midnight.

They looked satisfied and full, unlike Aiden, who hadn’t eaten anything since the start of the night. But that didn’t matter. Aiden’s unique body allowed him to survive without food or water, relying on his curse and magical energy.

"Are you ready?" asked Aiden.

Amber and the others nodded. They opened the window and began flying upward into the clouds, ensuring that the Hurd Family couldn’t detect their presence. Joe flew alongside Aiden, while Amber, Rachel, and Aurora flew on their own.

Sure enough! No one noticed their leaving, even when Aiden and his team had already left the city. Now, their next destination was to return to Reinhard’s residence and report their mission directly to Henry.

The next day.

The edge of Dourstad City.

According to Feyd’s information, Rose came to the inn with Feyd and his team members. They entered and looked for Aiden’s name in the guest book.

"They’re in rooms 17 and 18," said the receptionist.

Rose nodded. She walked ahead with Feyd following behind. Upon reaching the room, Rose told Feyd and the others to wait outside the inn. Feyd obeyed.

"What exactly does Mistress Rose want to do to Aiden and his team?" asked Feyd.

The woman in the purple dress kept knocking on the door, hoping someone inside would open it. However, there was no response.

Rose was suspicious. She grabbed the doorknob and tried to open it, but it wasn’t locked. As a result, Rose immediately opened the door and saw no one inside the room, with the window open.

"Where is he?!" Rose exclaimed.

Her attention was diverted by a piece of paper lying on the bed, a glass of wine seemed to be holding the letter down so it wouldn’t fly away in the wind coming through the window. Rose walked closer to the bed.

She picked up the letter and read the message written inside. Rose became angry, she didn’t expect Aiden and his team to have left since last night.

"Damn Aiden!"

"If you go back to Reinhard, then I’ll go there to meet you in person!"
