Chapter 116: First Mission

"What? Attack another noble family in the city?" Aurora was shocked.

"That’s right."

Henry began to explain why he had given Aiden and his group this mission. The rivalry between the nobles in Lunor City was getting fiercer. Since they couldn’t beat Reinhard in terms of economy, they chose violence.

"Gerard is out of town with his group of knights. I can’t order him to carry out this mission," Henry replied.

"However, I have you. You are the most promising independent group in my opinion," the white-haired man revealed.

"With this mission, besides receiving a special reward from the Reinhard family, I won’t mind allowing you to join the Free Tournament," Henry explained.

"The Free Tournament?" Aiden asked, and Henry nodded.

"You’ve never heard of it?" Henry asked.

Aiden remained silent, as did all the other members of his group. Lefan hadn’t told them anything about the Free Tournament, and even Aiden was hearing about it for the first time from Henry.

The elders left the podium after Pietro had been recovered. They stood right next to Henry, staring straight ahead.

"The Free Tournament involves all independent groups from all noble families in the city. Those who become the first-place champion will have the opportunity to join a regional noble family," Henry explained.

"By joining under the banner of a regional noble, your missions will increase and you will receive various rewards. That will help improve your abilities," explained Henry.

"I see,"

"However, only the first place winner has the right to choose which noble to join. There are six regional nobles representing their region, such as the north, south, west, east, southeast, and administrative regions."

Henry tapped his magic pouch again, pulling out a slip containing information about the six regional nobles, starting with the Helferich family, Idgard, Elysia, Alfonso, Richard, and Pompo.

Aiden and the others clearly saw the information. The information panel only revealed the basic identities of the regional noble families, without any further details.

[Regional Noble Identities:]

[Eastern Arcanis Region: Elysia Noble Family || Family Head: Clarissa Elysia]

[Western Arcanis Region: Helferich Noble Family || Family Head: Rickon Helferich]

[Northern Arcanis Region: Idgard Noble Family || Family Head: Daniel Idgard]

[Southern Arcanis Region: Alfonso Noble Family || Family Head: Robert Alfonso]

[Southeastern Arcanis Region: Richard Noble Family || Family Head: Arthur Richard]

[Pompo Administrative Region: Pompo Noble Family || Family Head: Jaquelin Pompo]

"Henry’s abilities as the head of the Reinhard family are already impressive enough. What about the others?" asked Aiden.

"Among these six noble families, only the Elysia and Pompo noble families have good relations with Reinhard," said Henry.

Henry explained that the good relationship was formed because the City of Lunor is under the control of the Eastern Region of Arcanis, so Reinhard and Elysia often communicate and cooperate.

Meanwhile, the Pompo Noble Family has a good relationship with Reinhard because Reinhard often sends food supplies there.

"If you win the tournament, you will have the opportunity to join Elysia or Pompo," said Henry.

Aiden nodded. However, that was not Aiden’s main objective at the moment. His purpose in forming an independent group was so that he could become stronger without having to fear being suspected by the mages, as well as to search for information about body tempering techniques.

"Thank you for the information. But there is something I would like to ask you, Sir Henry," explained Aiden.

"Go ahead, what do you want to know?" Henry asked without hesitation.

"Do you know about the Body Tempering Technique of the Knight Institute?"

"Body Tempering Technique?" Henry asked again, and Aiden cleared his throat.

"I know about it."

Henry explained the technique again. However, before explaining the details of the body tempering technique, Henry had to explain to them about the subclasses of knights.

"At the Arcanis Knight Institute, there are two subclasses that are popular among novice knights: Guardian and Saber."

"The two subclasses have different abilities, just like Summoner, Beast Tamer, Wizard, and Alchemist at the magic academy," Henry replied.

"The Body Tempering Technique is a key technique that must be mastered by Guardian subclass knights, because the Guardian’s focus is on protecting their group."

"Gerard once told me about it. In his group, there was a Guardian who successfully applied the Body Tempering Technique. With that technique, his physical strength increased to the point where he could block a sword swing with his palm," explained Henry.

"As Queen Leonora said, I must learn Body Tempering Technique so that my body can adapt if I ever get the chance to cross planets," explained Aiden.

"Thank you for the information," said Aiden, feeling very helped by Henry’s information.

"No problem. I can tell you where Gerard is right now. However..."

Aiden fell silent, his head lifting until his eyes locked onto the face of the white-haired man. Aurora and the others responded similarly. They were curious about what Henry was about to say next.

"What?" Aiden asked.

"You must complete the mission I gave you," Henry explained firmly.

Aiden glanced briefly at Aurora, who nodded, followed by the other members. They agreed to carry out their first mission so they could find out the exact location of Gerard and his group of knights.

"Alright. Who do we have to kill?" Aiden asked seriously.

Henry smiled happily, bringing out the white plate containing information from an independent group that had successfully spied on one of the noble families in the city, Reinhard’s fiercest rival.

"They are Elder Liam and Elder Arnold of the Ulrich family. Your task is to kill them and seize all the Ulrich family’s goods, "said Henry.

"According to the information we’ve obtained, they will be sending their goods from Lunor to Cane. I want you to ambush them, seize all their goods, and send them to Doustrad. There, the Hurd family will receive the goods," Henry replied.

[Independent Mission Details:]

[Objective:]

[1. Kill Elder Liam Ulrich]

[2. Kill Elder Arnold Ulrich]

[3. Send the looted goods to the Hurd family in Doustrad]

[Group: Independent Group 7th]

[Group Leader: Aiden Aswald]

"Once you complete the mission, return to the Reinhard family to receive your reward," Henry said.

Aiden nodded. He had never killed a human before. However, due to necessity, he had to carry out this dirty mission.

"Killing humans? That’s interesting!" said Joe.

"I don’t mind. They must be weak and easy to defeat," added Amber.

Their group captain turned around, seeing their enthusiasm and excitement. With no other choice, Aiden agreed to the mission.

"Good."

One of the elders of the Reinhard family stretched out his hand and gave them detector bracelets. This allowed Reinhard to track their whereabouts. However, if anything happened to them, Reinhard would not help.

"You must work as an independent group. If you succeed, Reinhard will admit your mission. If you fail, we will deny that your group is part of us," said the elder.

"Is that so?"

"That’s the risk of being an independent group. You receive acknowledgment from us, but we won’t admit anything if your mission fails," explained Henry.

"Alright. I understand," said Aiden, Henry impressed by Aiden’s firm attitude.

"Good."

"Let’s return.

Henry reactivated the blue slip to transport them from the magic arena back to the Reinhard family residence. In a flash of blue light, they teleported until they were fully arrived in the backyard of Reinhard’s residence.

"Lucas," Henry called out, an elder walking over.

"Take them to one of our safe houses."

"Yes, Sir Henry," Lucas replied.

Lucas approached Aiden, asking them to follow him. Henry smiled slightly, saying that Aiden and his group should rest tonight, as their mission would begin tomorrow night.

Aiden obeyed. He walked after Lucas, leaving the main residence of the Reinhard family. Jack spoke to Henry about his decision to send them.

"Don’t worry, Jack. They have what it takes to carry out this mission," Henry replied.

"Besides, he’s your son, isn’t he? You believe in his abilities, don’t you?" Henry asked, patting Jack on the shoulder.

"I believe, but—"

"If he wants to know the exact location of Gerard and his knights, then he must complete this mission."
