Chapter 9: The Inhumane Wuji

In the gloomy village, the sun rose on the horizon once again.

'Dark Iron Armor, wrap me up,' Wuji commanded in his mind, laughing as dark tendrils seeped out of his body. The tendrils coiled around him, covering him entirely. His muscles bulged, his height grew, and a hoop-like crown slowly formed on his head, giving him an even more imposing appearance.

With a single step, he vanished from sight, reappearing instantly beside the fallen bear. The Night Guards barely had time to register the dark flash streaking across the forest.

Wuji's towering, armored figure stood over the demonic bear. Without hesitation, he reached out and slapped its massive body with a devastating force.

"Damn it, what the hell is a Deva being covered in abyss-like armor?" Xorath muttered, frowning. He raised his fists, dark shadows swirling and solidifying into spiked gauntlets around them.

The bear's body disintegrated under Wuji's strike, exploding into a spray of blood and viscera that smeared his already ferocious frame. Wuji's darkened figure now looked like a bloodied demon.

"Hey, ant, it's your turn," Wuji said, turning his head slowly to Xorath, his voice cold and dripping with menace.

Xorath didn't wait for Wuji to make the first move. With a roar, he charged, his shadow-coated fists aiming straight for Wuji.

This time, Wuji's fists gleamed with a golden-yellow aura. The two forces collided in the middle of the clearing.

The moment their fists connected, a deafening shockwave erupted, shaking the earth beneath them. The ground cracked open in jagged lines, and the surrounding air became a violent vortex, almost forming a tornado. Trees were uprooted and flung away like twigs, while some of the Night Guard members were knocked off their feet, injured by the sheer force of the collision.

Little Red clung tightly to a tree branch, his golden eyes filled with worry as he watched the battle unfold.

As the dust cleared, Wuji stood tall, his dark and red aura raging like an inferno. Xorath, on the other hand, was a broken mess. His arm was completely destroyed, his chest blown open to reveal jagged ribs, and his face twisted in utter fear.

"D-De-devil, don't come near me!" Xorath stammered, trembling and backing away. Despite being an accomplice of the abyss, in this moment, he looked no different from a terrified human.

"HAHAHAHA!" Wuji laughed maniacally, his voice echoing through the forest. "I love this. I fucking love obliterating creatures!"

Dark and red energy swirled around him as he walked toward Xorath, his every step exuding dominance. Reaching the trembling Abyssal Deva, Wuji lifted him by the neck with one hand.

"Remember this in your next life: I am a dignified martial artist, not your weak kind called Devas," Wuji growled before crushing Xorath's head with a sickening crunch. He tossed the lifeless body aside like trash.

The system's mechanical chime echoed in Wuji's mind.

"Huh? Talent Core? What the hell is that?" Wuji muttered. "Wait... in those novels, the so-called cores are always near the creature's heart."

Acting on instinct, Wuji grabbed Xorath's corpse and ripped open his chest. Among the bloody mess, he found a dark crystal near the heart. It pulsed faintly, with shadowy energy swirling inside.

'Well, the system didn't say what it's for, but this will definitely be useful in the future,' Wuji thought, storing the Talent Core in his pocket.

Behind him, the Night Guards finally caught up, only to freeze in fear and confusion. They had not seen Wuji transform earlier, as the trees had blocked their view.

"Who the hell are you? Where is Wuji?" Captain Long demanded, his voice shaking.

"Hey, Captain, it's me. Don't worry," Wuji replied, laughing as the Dark Iron Armor receded back into his body, shrinking his height and muscles to their original size.

"Fuck, Wuji, how did you transform into a demon? Are you still a martial artist?" Captain Long exclaimed, his disbelief evident.

"Hey, Captain Long, this is the truth of martial arts. One day, you might master it too," Wuji teased, grinning. Around him, the Night Guard members stared with awe and admiration, as if gazing upon a godlike figure. They couldn't believe that such power could exist in a martial artist.

'Good! Praise me, mortals,' Wuji thought smugly, enjoying their reverence. For a moment, he even forgot about the system's help.

Little Red's eyes sparkled with admiration and shock as he leaped onto Wuji's shoulder, his golden gaze never leaving his boss.

"Captain Long, deliver me the demonic beasts' meat. There's no need to butcher it," Wuji commanded casually before walking toward the village with Little Red on his shoulder.

...

"Aunt Mei, are you at home? I brought some dresses and meat for you to try," Wuji called as he pushed the door open.

"Wuji! Why didn't you tell me you're a member of the Night Guard now? I was so worried when I heard you went to the forest," Aunt Mei's voice rang out as she rushed toward him. She hugged him tightly and stomped lightly on his chest in mock frustration.

For the second time in his life, Wuji felt the warmth of love. But instead of softening him, it strengthened his resolve to protect those he cared for.

"Aunt, don't worry. I'm too strong to even get a scratch. Also, you should try the clothes I bought you," Wuji said, hugging her back and softly patting her head.

"Okay, Wuji. Who made you my best friend's son that I can't even scold you properly?" Aunt Mei said playfully, grabbing the clothes and the meat Wuji brought.

"Wuji, wait for me. I'll cook us dinner," she said, walking toward the kitchen.

As Wuji waited outside for the delivery of the demonic beasts, he noticed a group approaching from a distance, pushing a cart loaded with the bloody carcasses.

"He... Hello, sir. This is the package you requested," the delivery boy stammered, his eyes wide as he took in Wuji's inhumanly muscular frame.

...

After finishing dinner with Aunt Mei and Little Red, Wuji went to the back of the house to roast the demonic beasts. As he chopped the meat, his hand brushed against a hard, rock-like object.
