Chapter 213: New Development (8)

Each one of them fell silent. As people in power, they were more aware of it, but it was not that the citizens were clueless, either. They all bonded together specifically because of this issue. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

That was their reality.

"But did you really have to betray us like that?" Sania could still not accept that he was subdued against his will. Furthermore, it was also an outsider.

As a proud clan leader of the Golden Crow, which was once an illustrious royal clan, Sania could not even imagine facing the ancestors.

Zarilan gave a bitter smile.

"It was done. There was nothing he could do." He could only say it as such. At the end of the day, even if they argued all day or killed him for his betrayal, nothing would change.

They were all under the soul contract and with one master.

This left the others speechless again. Even the old snake, Nagaru, heavily sighed. Sania gritted his teeth and glared at Zarilan before he turned around with his entourage.

Everyone knew that from now on their forces would work to achieve their master’s goals, whether they liked it or not.

Sania clenched his fists, unwilling in his heart. Yet, part of him... hoped that, maybe, this new master could really save them.

Rise was not interested in their squabbles. One thing for them to bark and bite each other, as long as they execute his orders successfully.

He was not worried about their forces either. This was the reason that Rise only sought the clan leaders and their entourage, which was composed mainly of elders. They were enough to micromanage their clans for him.

Rise lacked interest in being their nanny.

Once it was done and his instructions were clear, the two set off. Next to the agenda, of course, was a certain noble hiding away in this world.

Rise’s anger at him had diminished significantly, but that did not mean he had already forgotten about it. It was time to make a certain noble count pay for his crimes.

With unusual justice in his heart, Rise strode towards the territory that once imprisoned him and made him a pet, Danich.

It did not take too long this time. One was that Rise had already played enough last time, and another was that they sought him for a different matter.

Kamille was also ruthless and never let Danich prepare; he immediately crippled him. Once, dignified nobles beyond the gates were reduced to a miserable state in the blink of an eye.

"Who,re...y,ou?" Danich could not even talk straight; Kamille’s foot rested on his back. For sure, even that was like torture.

Rise squatted before him and grinned, playing with the horns in his hand, the one he personally plucked out of Danich’s head.

"Who you collaborated with? Which forces?" Rise ignored Danich’s garbled question. "Don’t lie, my Guild Leader here can cut you off anytime."

As though to prove Rise’s point, Kamille put more force in his foot. His deep crimson pupils stared intently at Danich. Despite the opponent being crippled, he remained vigilant and watched every action of the count.

"I do,n’t—" he could not finish as Rise slapped his horn across his face.

Rise poked his cheek.

"I’m not here to negotiate with you." The smirk on his lips faded. "I ask, you answer. Simple. Alright?"

Before Danich could react, his eyes widened, and disbelief spread across his face. His whole body trembled, and blood continued to ooze out of his injury.

If it were not for any ordinary people, even Esper, they would have already died. However, nobles were always known for their tenacity.

"H,ow!" Danich howled in despair. "Grand, Duke!" He shouted the noble title more clearly than the rest, but it took too much toil in his body, and he directly spat out a mouthful of blood.

Kamille’s mana erupted and surrounded the whole place. Even Rise sensed it; it was far more oppressive than his usual wavelength. Of course, he was not affected.

Rise could not help but laugh. He already saw the desperate expression in the last reset, but this was more satisfying. The sheer disbelief was hilarious.

He must be so shocked to discover that the one who attacked him was also a noble and working with a mere human.

"Can we talk now?" Rise patted Danich’s face with a horn, too disgusted to touch him.

Discovering that Kamille was a Grand Duke seemed to strip all his hope, and Danich became cooperative. Rise still did not know the significance of titles and everything to the nobles, and that was not something he wanted to pry into at this moment.

Rise asked more relevant questions, while the others did not, but he thought it helped. Or, he just loved seeing and hearing Danich’s miserable state while speaking.

Unlike the last time when they just imprisoned Danich in this gate, they had no actual need to spare him. Danich was not important to their plans and might even cause trouble later on.

Now that Kamille had been fully awakened as a noble, he had methods to cut off Danich’s connection beyond the gates. Again, Rise was not privy to the principles behind it, since he was not a noble.

"Are you only sealing it and not destroying it completely?" Rise asked curiously, looking at the teleportation mechanism just behind the throne.

"We might have a use for it," Kamille responded, his mana surrounding the rift.

"Like?" Rise leaned on his shoulder and asked.

Kamille turned to him, a ghost of a smile on his lips. This was a face that clearly showed he had something exciting for Rise.

Rise’s mood lifted, and he stared at his lover with anticipation.

"Visiting their home," Kamille slowly whispered.

Sure enough, Rise’s eyes lit up.

Right! This rift should be connected with the realm beyond the gates, since Danich was using this as an escape in case things went south.

Of course, it was only likely, but whatever the destination was, it should be connected to their realm still.

"Wow. I haven’t thought of it." Rise rubbed his cheek on Kamille’s shoulder, like a kitten. "You’re always the best," he praised shamelessly.

Rise seemed to always switch to another character in front of Kamille. A coquettish Rise.

Kamille leaned and kissed the crown of his head. Their eyes then met.

It was not important who initiated it, but the two savored a passionate kiss. The location might not be appropriate for a romance, but things never stopped the two from expressing their affection.
