Right after the battle began, the crowd was stunned.

Their expressions were shocked, and their eyes were wide.

The arena, was dead silent, and the spectators were at a loss for words.

The battle, had ended.

It was a short and one-sided battle.

Zed, had won, and Ainsworth, had lost.

The result, wasn’t unexpected, but, the way the battle had ended, sure was.

Ainsworth, was on the ground, and his body was lying motionless.

His face was buried into the sand, and his body was lifeless.

He was defeated, and the fight had been decided in an instant.

No, it wasn’t a fight, it was a one-sided beatdown.

"Wow,"

Zed, who was standing in the center of the arena, was looking at the fallen opponent.

"That was so easy, and fun,"

His tone was smug, and his expression was haughty.

"This guy was no match for me,"

He stated.

"I thought, you were quite strong for claiming to serve under my master, but, turns out, you are not even worth mentioning,"

He said, and his eyes were filled with disdain.

His forehead was not even wet with sweat, and his breathing was normal.

It was like he hadn’t exerted any effort at all.

"Well, whatever,"

He shrugged, shaking his head. Both of his hands were tucked into the pockets of his pants, and his pose was casual.

"Let’s move on to the next match, and see if any of these guys can entertain me,"

Saying that, he leaned back his head, and glanced around the arena.

His eyes, scanned the crowd, and he was looking for the next candidate.

But, his gaze stopped, and his eyebrows furrowed.

’Who is that?’

Zed’s eyes narrowed, and his gaze landed on Rael, who was sitting at the front row, and was looking straight at him.

The young man was sitting with his elbow resting on the armrest, his face was titled a bit, and his cheeks were resting on his knuckles.

His blue, slanted eyes were staring straight at Zed, and his gaze was sharp.

While, all the other candidates, were shocked, and bewildered, the young man was calm, and composed.

His eyes, were locked on Zed, and his gaze was sharp.

Zed, could feel his eyes piercing through him, and he felt a strange sensation in his gut.

It was like a cold shiver, and he felt chills run down his spine.

The young man, was making him feel uneasy, and he didn’t know why.

It was a familiar feeling, and he didn’t like it.

Because, it reminded him, of the day when the dungeons appeared, and the day, when the world was changed.

It was the same feeling, he had, when he first met her.

Her, his master.

The person, who had saved him, and who had given him a new life.

Her, the one person, he wanted to protect, and who he wanted to follow, for the rest of his life.

And, the young man, who was staring at him, gave him the same feeling, as her.

That was the reason, why Zed, was unsettled, and that was the reason, why the young man, had captured his attention.

’Why do I feel this way?’

Zed wondered, and his expression was perplexed.

The two of them, were looking at each other, and they were sizing each other up.

The atmosphere, was tense, and the air was heavy.

’Why do I feel so...’

"Hey,"

Suddenly, a voice, broke him out of his thoughts, and Zed, looked towards the source.

It was his sister, and she was standing inside the control room.

It was situated above the entrance, and it was overlooking the whole arena.

"Zed, what the hell are you doing?"

The girl’s voice was bare. She wasn’t using any kind of device, and was just shouting.

"Why did you knock him out?"

She inquired, and her expression was frustrated.

Just a moment ago, Zed and his opponent were standing, facing each other, but, right after the match began, Ainworth dashed towards Zed, and swung his fist at him.

Unfortunately, Zed, evaded the blow, grabbed his arm, and threw him across the arena.

In a flash, the match was over, and the fight was decided.

Ainsworth, was unconscious, and Zed, was victorious.

The fight, was a one-sided beating, and it ended in an instant.

And, now, the crowd was stunned.

No one could believe, what had just happened, and no one could explain, why the match was so one-sided.

Just a single swing, was all it took, to end the battle.

A single swing, and the opponent, was knocked out.

The speed, was so fast, that it was barely visible, and the power, was overwhelming.

And, everyone, was shocked.

Everyone, except Rael, who was just observing, and smiling.

"Zed,"

The girl, who was standing near the control panel, glared at her brother, and her eyes were angry.

"Answer me,"

She ordered.

"Why did you knock him out?"

"Uhhh," Zed, scratched his head, and his tone was hesitant.

"He was talking too much, so, I just had to stop him,"

"So, you just knocked him out?" The girl was flabbergasted, and her tone was incredulous.

"What did he say?" She asked.

"Something about, being honored to fight me, and serving the guild master,"

Zed, replied, and his tone was dismissive.

"Also, he said something about, becoming her knight in shining armor, and protecting her," He concluded.

"Oh, is that so?" His sister’s expressions changed, and she had a weird smile on her face.

"Well, he must be a fool," She declared.

"Only a fool, would say such ridiculous things,"

She scoffed, and her eyes were filled with disgust.

"Serving her, and becoming her knight, yeah, right,"

Her voice was dripping with sarcasm, and her tone was bitter.

"Protecting her, what a joke,"

"Yeah, he was a fool, for sure," Zed, agreed, and his tone was firm.

"And, for that, I beat him, and made him shut up," He said, and his eyes were burning with rage.

"He had no right, to talk about my master, and claim to be her servant,"

"Hmm," The girl, hummed, and her expression was thoughtful.

"You did the right thing," She told him.

"Today night, I will cook you your favorite dish, ’Carrot Pudding’ as a reward,"

She promised, and her voice was gentle.

"Really?" Zed’s eyes brightened, and his lips curled upwards.

"Yeah, really," The girl confirmed, and her tone was warm.

"I will even, add a lot of carrots, and make it extra sweet,"

"Awesome!"

Zed’s mouth was watering, and his stomach was grumbling.

"You are the best, sis," He exclaimed, and his voice was filled with joy.

"I know, I am," The girl smiled, and her face was relaxed.

Both of the siblings, were talking among themselves, and the others were left wondering, what the heck was going on.

"Um, excuse me,"

Someone from the girl’s back cleared their throat, and the siblings, stopped talking.

"What is it?" The girl, asked, and her tone was polite.

"We are still here,"

"Oh," She exclaimed, and her face was blank.

"Yeah, sorry, I forgot,"

She apologized, and her voice was sincere.

"Well, let’s continue,"

"Next contestant is Rael, the Demon King,"

She announced, and her tone was professional.

"Huh? Wait? The Demon King?" The girl was shocked, and her eyes were wide.

She turned around toward her underlings, and her expression was confused.

"Why does he have the title ’Demon King’?" She inquired, and her voice was filled with skepticism.

"Umm, well, you see," One of the men, stuttered, and his tone was nervous.

"We just got a massage from Mister Leo saying that Miss Sera wants to give the young man, the title ’Demon King’," He revealed, and his expression was grim.

"Miss Sera? Herself? She gave him the title?" The girl was baffled, and her tone was incredulous.

"But, how come? We didn’t even know him, before today,"

"Well, about that, we also are not sure,"

The man replied, and his expression was uncertain.

"But, it seems, she has taken a liking, to the young man,"

"Liking?"

The girl was stunned, and her tone was baffled.

"What do you mean, liking?"

"Um, well," The man hesitated, and his tone was hesitant.

"She seems, to be interested, in him,"

"Interested?" The girl instinctively, glanced at the young man, and her eyes widened.

’Don’t tell me he is Guild Master’s secret lover?’

She thought, and her mind was racing.

’Ahhhhh!’

She screamed inside her head.

’Why is every handsome man is already taken?’

She cried, and her expression was sorrowful.

’Why can’t I have a handsome boyfriend too?’

’I thought he was just another pretty boy, and I would have a chance with him, but, nooooo!’

’Now, I know, I don’t have a chance, because, he is taken, by my precious guild master,’

She stood still, and her mind was in turmoil.

Meanwhile, the rest of the employees, were just looking at her, and they were not sure, what to do.

After a few moments, her brother’s voice, brought her out of her thoughts.

"Sis!"

"Yeah," She snapped out of her reverie, and her tone was dull.

"Call the next guy, and start the fight," Zed instructed, and his tone was impatient.

"Yeah, I will,"

Sighing, the girl, looked towards the young man, and her expression was sullen.

"Mister Rael, please, come forward, and enter the arena," she spoke in the microphone, and her tone was lifeless.

"You will be the next contestant,"

"Yeah, I know,"

Rael, got up, and walked towards the arena.

His posture was relaxed, and his expression was calm.

His steps, were graceful, and his movements, were fluid.

"Good luck,"

Some of the employees, wished him good luck, and some of them, gave him a thumbs up.

Even if their voice was barely audible, they still cheered him on.

They didn’t know him, and he was a stranger, but, they wanted to root for him.

On the other hand, Zed, was standing in the middle of the arena, and his face was grim.

He was waiting for his opponent, and his expression was fierce.

’So, he is Rael, the Demon King, huh?’

His gaze, was focused on Rael, and his eyes, were sharp.

’Let’s see, if you are, as strong, as your title suggests,’

Him, a 16 year old boy, was challenging someone who was called a ’Demon King’.

But, he didn’t care, and his face was resolute.

Because, he knew, that the title was meaningless.

The only thing, that mattered, was the strength of the person, and not, his title.

’Show me, what you got,’

’Show me, why I am feeling this way,’

He clenched his fist, and his expression was serious.

’Show me, why you are giving me this feeling, and why you are making me feel, the same, as the day, when I first met her,’

And, with that, Rael reached the arena and the second battle, began.

"Commencing the 2nd battle, between the challenger, Rael, and the member, Zed,"

The girl’s voice, came through the speakers, and the crowd, erupted into cheers.

"Let the battle, begin,"
