Chapter 697: Chapter 664: The Secret at Age Ten_1

"So that’s how it is."

Realizing the situation, Qin Feiyang clasped his hands together in respect and said, "You truly put a lot of thought into this, Senior. I misunderstood you earlier; please accept my apologies."

"It’s alright." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

Wang Hong waved his hand and sighed. "Over the years, the Old Man has treated me like family. Naturally, I must do something for him. Therefore, I hope you can grant my request."

"Senior, you repay kindness with gratitude, and the Old Man has also been good to me. Technically, I should grant your request, but..." Qin Feiyang trailed off, his brow furrowing.

Wang Hong immediately reassured him, "Don’t worry, I will absolutely not leak the Elixir Formula."

Qin Feiyang contemplated for a moment, then looked at Wang Hong and said, "This matter is too significant. Please allow me a few days to consider it."

"Alright."

Wang Hong nodded with a smile.

He also knew that this request was somewhat imposing, so he didn’t press further.

Qin Feiyang didn’t bring up the matter of selecting treasures again.

After all, since he hadn’t agreed to the request, how could he have the nerve to bring up that matter?

The two men and the wolf subsequently walked out of the treasure vault. Immediately, a beautiful figure entered their sight.

It was Ren Wushuang!

After Wang Hong closed the stone door, he asked in confusion, "Wushuang, what brings you here?"

Ren Wushuang bowed to Wang Hong and said, "I need to discuss something with Qin Feiyang."

"Looking for me?"

Qin Feiyang frowned slightly, an imperceptible furrow in his brow, as a sense of unease crept into his heart.

Wang Hong glanced knowingly at the two of them and smiled. "Alright, you two chat."

With that, he opened a teleportation portal and left to report to the Old Man.

Once the teleportation portal dissipated, Ren Wushuang hurried to Qin Feiyang’s side and asked, "Feiyang, can you tell me my father’s whereabouts now?"

Just as I expected!

Qin Feiyang had guessed Ren Wushuang was looking for him to ask about Ren Duxing.

He remained silent for a moment.

Qin Feiyang said, "Elder Sister, it’s not that I don’t want to tell you Uncle Ren’s whereabouts; it’s that the Old Man forbade me. He doesn’t want you to worry."

"Grandfather knows too?" Ren Wushuang’s expression faltered.

Qin Feiyang nodded and added, "However, the Old Man only knows that Uncle Ren is still alive; he doesn’t know Uncle Ren’s current location."

"Why?" Ren Wushuang looked at him, perplexed.

Qin Feiyang replied, "Because Uncle Ren doesn’t want any of you to know where he is."

"Even so, you all can’t keep hiding this from me! It’s too unfair!"

With that, she squatted down, hugged her shoulders, and began to cry, feeling wronged.

"Elder Sister, please don’t be like this."

"If anyone sees this, they’ll think I’m bullying you!" Qin Feiyang said helplessly.

"You *are* bullying me..."

"I’m not a child. Why can’t you tell me..." Ren Wushuang murmured, tears streaming down her face like rain.

Qin Feiyang pleaded, his voice tinged with helplessness, "Please stop crying, alright?"

Ren Wushuang turned a deaf ear, silently letting her tears flow. Her frail body curled up, trembling uncontrollably, appearing exceptionally helpless.

"Well, well!"

"Qin Feiyang, Wushuang, what are you two doing here?"

Just then, a series of figures descended from the sky.

It was Third Young Master Cao and the other nine Great Commanders.

Fan Jian was among them.

The nine landed in the square outside the ancient fortress, looking at the pair curiously.

Qin Feiyang gave an embarrassed smile. "It’s nothing."

"Is that so?"

"Then why is Miss Wushuang crying?" Fan Jian looked at Qin Feiyang strangely.

Nearby, Xue Huiyun frowned and asked, "Qin Feiyang, did you bully Wushuang?"

Third Young Master Cao said with a cold expression, "Let me tell you, Wushuang is the apple of our eye. If you dare to bully her, we won’t spare you."

"I didn’t!" Qin Feiyang quickly waved his hands in denial.

The Wolf King, standing to one side, not only didn’t help explain but actually seemed to be reveling in Qin Feiyang’s predicament.

"You really didn’t?" Third Young Master Cao eyed him with hostility.

Qin Feiyang was about to break down. He transmitted his voice to Ren Wushuang, "Elder Sister, please stop crying! If you continue, I won’t be able to clear my name even if I jump into the Yellow River."

"Then are you going to tell me or not?" Ren Wushuang transmitted back, her tone clearly carrying a hint of threat.

Qin Feiyang rubbed his aching forehead, looked at the Wolf King beside him, and said angrily, "Can’t you offer any ideas to help?"

"This is between you two. What could I say?" The Wolf King said nonchalantly, adopting an air of ’this has nothing to do with me, I’ll just watch from the sidelines.’

"You’re cruel!" Qin Feiyang glared fiercely at it, then gritted his teeth and transmitted to Ren Wushuang, "Fine, I’ll take you to him!"

"Really?" Ren Wushuang’s delicate body trembled.

"Yes." Qin Feiyang nodded.

If I don’t agree now, I’m afraid Third Young Master Cao and his group really will gang up on me.

Ren Wushuang instantly broke into a smile through her tears. She stood up, wiped her eyes, and said to Xue Huiyun and the others, "He didn’t bully me. Some sand just got into my eyes."

"Sand in your eyes?"

The nine exchanged glances, clearly skeptical.

"Well..."

"AHEM." Qin Feiyang coughed drily and said with a smile, "Everyone, I have some other matters to attend to, so I’ll be leaving first."

Then he opened a teleportation portal and swiftly departed with Ren Wushuang and the Wolf King.

"What was that about?"

Third Young Master Cao and the others looked at each other, bewildered.

「...」

「The Land of Ruins, Iron Chain Bridge!」

SWOOSH!

Two humans and a wolf materialized out of thin air.

Ren Wushuang surveyed her surroundings and asked in surprise, "Isn’t this the entrance to the Land of Ruins?"

"Correct."

"Uncle Ren is right down there." Qin Feiyang pointed towards the great chasm.

Ren Wushuang’s gaze trembled. Her eyes immediately followed his gesture to the head of the bridge, looking down into the great chasm below. She shouted, "Father, your daughter has come to find you! Won’t you come out and see me?"

Her voice, filled with deep longing and yearning, echoed above the chasm, lingering for a long time.

But from within the chasm, only the whistling of the storm answered; no other sound was heard.

"Father, I know you’re reluctant to see me, that you won’t let me know you’re here, and you must have your reasons. But have you ever considered my feelings?

"Ever since you left, I’ve searched for you every single day.

"To find you, I stayed in the Land of Ruins for over twenty years! Was that easy for me?

"Yet, despite all that, I never once complained, because I knew it was what we, as children, should do.

"But what about you?

"Have you ever fulfilled the responsibilities a father should?

"If you lacked the ability, why did you bring me into this world in the first place?"

Ren Wushuang grew more agitated as she spoke, her voice rising to a near roar by the end, tears streaming down her face like a torrent.

"SIGH!"

Standing behind her, Qin Feiyang couldn’t help but let out a long sigh. He walked to Ren Wushuang’s side, looked down into the great chasm, and said, "Uncle Ren, we’ll be heading to the Imperial Capital soon. Before we leave, won’t you come out and see Wushuang?"

Ren Wushuang cried out, "Yes, come out! I promise I won’t ask anything!"

"Shuang’er, why must you torment yourself so?"

A moment later, a long sigh echoed from within the chasm.

Immediately after, a dark figure shot out from the storm and landed on the Iron Chain Bridge.

It was Ren Duxing!

"Father, it’s really you..."

Gazing at the familiar face, Ren Wushuang’s vision blurred with tears that began to stream uncontrollably. She immediately ran onto the Iron Chain Bridge, straight towards Ren Duxing.

His eyes filled with affection, Ren Duxing opened his arms. As his daughter rushed into his embrace, his own eyes couldn’t help but moisten.

"Father, I’ve missed you so much," Ren Wushuang murmured, the familiar scent and warm embrace allowing her to feel the paternal love she had longed for.

Hearing this, however, Ren Duxing was filled with remorse. He said softly, "Shuang’er, Father has wronged you. Can you forgive Father?"

"I’ve never blamed you, Father," Ren Wushuang said, shaking her head.

Ren Duxing felt his nose tingle, and two streams of tears finally escaped, rolling down his aged cheeks.

Watching the father and daughter, the Wolf King murmured, "Xiao Qinzi, envious?"

"Who wouldn’t be envious of such kinship? But not everyone is fortunate enough to have it."

After speaking, Qin Feiyang looked up at the sky, an immensely complicated emotion in his eyes.

A short while later, he withdrew his gaze. After a glance at Ren Duxing and his daughter, he waved his hand and entered the ancient fortress with the Wolf King.

Seeing Fatty and Lu Hong still bustling about, Qin Feiyang smiled and asked, "How’s the sorting coming along?"

Fatty wiped the sweat from his brow and chuckled, "There’s so much! It’ll take until tomorrow at the earliest to sort through it all."

Qin Feiyang said with a faint smile, "Then put it aside for now."

"What’s wrong?" Lu Hong asked, puzzled.

Qin Feiyang smiled. "We’ll be heading to the Imperial Capital soon. There are some things I think it’s time to tell you."

Lu Hong and Fatty exchanged a look, immediately put down the medicinal ingredients in their hands, and rose to look at Qin Feiyang.

Lo Qianxue and Lin Yiyi also opened their eyes.

Qin Feiyang looked at Lin Yiyi and smiled. "You’ve always wanted to know my origins, haven’t you? Well, I’ll tell you now: I was indeed born in the Imperial Capital."

Lin Yiyi’s delicate body trembled, but she quickly calmed herself, waiting quietly for him to continue.

Qin Feiyang’s gaze swept over everyone—and the Black Dragon and other beasts—before he smiled. "My father is someone you all know: the current Emperor of the Great Qin Empire."

"What?!"

Lin Yiyi and Lo Qianxue shot to their feet, staring at Qin Feiyang in disbelief, their minds reeling in shock.

The Black Dragon was also extremely shocked.

As for the Wolf King, the Digging Beast, Fatty, and Lu Hong, they showed no surprise, as they had known this for some time.

The only thing they wanted to know was why Qin Feiyang had ended up in Iron Bull Town.

After a long pause, Lo Qianxue finally recovered her senses and asked, "Are you really the Emperor’s son?"

"Absolutely genuine," Qin Feiyang replied with a smile.

Upon hearing this, Lo Qianxue looked Qin Feiyang up and down, then suddenly knelt on the ground.

Qin Feiyang’s expression changed. He quickly went to help Lo Qianxue up, frowning as he asked, "Aunt Xue, what are you doing?"

Flustered, Lo Qianxue said, "You are His Highness the Prince! Of course, I must pay my respects!"

Qin Feiyang managed a helpless smile. "Aunt Xue, you’re embarrassing me. Please, get up. Besides, I am no longer a prince."

"Not a prince?"

Lo Qianxue was taken aback for a moment, then asked in confusion, "Why?"

Qin Feiyang gave a self-mocking smile. "More than ten years ago, the Emperor had already issued an edict stripping me of my status as Prince. If Mother hadn’t pleaded on my behalf, I’m afraid I would have long since become a pile of yellow earth."

"What?!" Lo Qianxue and Lin Yiyi were dumbfounded.

Fatty and the others also trembled, both in body and spirit.

So, all of this was related to the Emperor?

No wonder Qin Feiyang always became furious whenever his father was mentioned.

But why would the current Emperor issue an order to depose his own son?

What exactly happened to Qin Feiyang all those years ago?
