Immortal God of War-Chapter 679 - 646: There Must Be _1
Fortunately, everything had finally come to an end.
The next concern was how to awaken the Wolf King and the others from the illusion.
"Wake up, all of you!"
Suddenly, Qin Feiyang shouted aloud.
The Wolf King jerked awake, his eyes filled with confusion. Qin Feiyang was slightly stunned. Did it work? He had only tried it casually and hadn’t expected it to actually awaken the Wolf King.
The Wolf King glanced at the Sea of Blood and the Bridge of Helplessness, then asked with a puzzled look, "Xiao Qinzi, where are we?"
"The Bitter Sea lies ahead..." Qin Feiyang briefly explained the situation.
The Wolf King nodded in realization. "So everything I saw before was just an illusion." His expression showed a hint of disappointment.
Qin Feiyang curiously asked, "What did you see in the illusion?"
"I saw a mountain of gold, countless treasures, and even the Flower of Life and the Flame of Life!" The Wolf King grinned from ear to ear. Even now, thinking about it made him salivate, his eyes gleaming with greed.
"Is that all?" Qin Feiyang was astonished.
"What else?" The Wolf King scoffed. "How could a simple wolf like me be trapped in there? Even without your reminder, I could have gotten out of the illusion on my own."
"Narcissist," Qin Feiyang rolled his eyes.
That being said, apart from being a bit shameless, the Wolf King truly didn’t have many strong desires. The only thing was his fondness for treasures, but that too was short-lived. Take the Flame of Life and Mu Tianyang’s rib, for example. At first, he loved them, but after a while, he couldn’t even be bothered to look at them. It could be said that the Wolf King’s heart was actually simpler than anyone else’s.
Qin Feiyang then looked at Ren Wushuang and the others. His eyebrows twitched when he saw that none of them had awakened yet.
"They must have filthy minds," the Wolf King chuckled mischievously.
"Watch your mouth!" Qin Feiyang frowned.
The Wolf King grinned. "Except for Miss Ren."
Qin Feiyang rolled his eyes at him. But the Wolf King had a point. Each of these people harbored many secrets in their hearts; waking them would likely not be easy.
However, if he could enter their illusions like the shadow, it wouldn’t be too difficult. But that was something he simply couldn’t do.
SMACK!
A series of crisp slaps rang out.
"Huh?" Qin Feiyang was taken aback. He looked over, only to be stunned at the sight. The Wolf King was raising his paw and continuously slapping Dongfang Wuheng and Murong Xiong across their faces.
"Can you not take advantage of others’ predicaments?" Qin Feiyang was left speechless.
"Damn it, what are you talking about?" the Wolf King glared at Qin Feiyang angrily, then continued to slap the two men, grinning wickedly. Qin Feiyang just shook his head helplessly.
In a short while, the faces of Dongfang Wuheng and Murong Xiong swelled up like pigs’ heads, with blood streaming from their mouths. Despite this, neither of them showed any signs of waking up.
"What the hell? They still won’t wake up after all that slapping?" The Wolf King, whose paws ached from the slapping, looked at the two men with a strange expression. "What kind of wonderful things are these bastards encountering in their illusions?"
"Certainly nothing good," Qin Feiyang smiled coldly. "But don’t kill them now." 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
The Wolf King raised an eyebrow, puzzled. "We’ve already reached the Bitter Sea. Isn’t it time to end their lives?"
"No hurry." Qin Feiyang shook his head, leaned in to the Wolf King’s ear, and whispered a few words.
"Ah, I see." The Wolf King suddenly understood and chuckled mischievously. "You’re really a nasty piece of work, but I like it."
Qin Feiyang smiled. "Alright, now think of a way to wake them up."
"You take your time to figure it out. I’ll go deal with Wan Chou and those other pieces of trash." A murderous glint flashed in the Wolf King’s eyes as he headed towards Wan Chou and the others. Qin Feiyang didn’t stop him. On the contrary, he fully supported the Wolf King’s actions. That’s how this world worked—strike when your enemy is vulnerable.
But just as the Wolf King stepped through the doorway, a blood-red light screen suddenly materialized, flinging him backward. With a BANG, he crashed onto the grass beneath the Bridge of Helplessness, wincing in pain.
"Huh?" Qin Feiyang looked at the light screen in surprise.
"Damn it! How dare it hurt me? It’s really asking for trouble! Watch me destroy you today!" The Wolf King scrambled up and charged angrily towards the doorway.
"Don’t!" Qin Feiyang quickly grabbed him, saying in a low voice, "This door probably exists to cut off our retreat."
"What do you mean?" The Wolf King was stunned.
Qin Feiyang explained, "It means that once someone has passed the trial, they cannot turn back."
"So we can’t kill them now?" Wan Chou and his men were close at hand but out of reach, which greatly annoyed the Wolf King.
"What’s the hurry? We have plenty of time." Qin Feiyang rolled his eyes at him and began to think, lowering his head in contemplation.
Suddenly, he had a flash of insight. They fell into the illusion because they were on the Bridge of Helplessness. So, if they left the Bridge of Helplessness, wouldn’t they naturally wake up? Thinking of this, he waved his hand and led the Wolf King, Ren Wushuang, and the others into the ancient castle.
It worked! The moment they entered the ancient castle, Ren Wushuang and the others opened their tightly closed eyes. Their eyes, however, were filled with confusion.
"Ouch, my face hurts so bad!" Murong Xiong suddenly let out a mournful howl.
Dongfang Wuheng came to his senses. Touching his burning face, he asked in confusion, "Why does my face hurt too?"
"Yours hurts too?" Murong Xiong looked at Dongfang Wuheng in surprise. Dongfang Wuheng returned his gaze.
Immediately, both of them became furious. "Who did this?" The two glared daggers at everyone present, their gazes particularly fixed on the Wolf King. Because only this damned Rogue Wolf was capable of such a thing.
"Don’t look at me," the Wolf King shook his head. "When Xiao Qinzi and I woke up from the illusion, you two already looked like this. I have no idea who did it."
Seeing the innocent expression on the Wolf King’s face, Fatty and Shen Mei, who were nearby, struggled to suppress their laughter, their faces turning red. Although they hadn’t witnessed what happened outside, they could guess it was the Wolf King’s doing based on the conversation between him and Qin Feiyang. However, neither Dongfang Wuheng and Murong Xiong, nor Ren Wushuang, Dong Zhengyang, and the others noticed the peculiar expressions of Fatty and Shen Mei.
At that moment, they were all looking incredulously at Qin Feiyang and the Wolf King. Dong Zhengyang asked, "Qin Feiyang, what was the Wolf King talking about with the illusions?"
Qin Feiyang gave another brief explanation. After listening, only then did they realize what had happened, and a wave of fear washed over them.
Lu Xingchen sighed deeply, looked at Qin Feiyang, and said with a shake of his head, "I never thought I’d owe you another favor."
The Wolf King said indifferently, "Just don’t be like some people and repay kindness with ingratitude." While speaking, he glanced at Dongfang Wuheng and Murong Xiong.
"Of course," Lu Xingchen laughed.
In contrast, Dongfang Wuheng and Murong Xiong wore extremely ugly expressions. They were certain their currently swollen faces were the Wolf King’s handiwork. But even if they knew, what could they do? The Wolf King’s strength was plain for all to see. Even if he were to piss on their heads, they could only endure it.
"Alright," Qin Feiyang said, "we’ve passed the trial of the Bridge of Helplessness. Next is the Bitter Sea. I hope everyone can unite and get through this final trial."
Upon hearing this, everyone’s spirits lifted. As long as they successfully crossed the Bitter Sea and reached the other shore, they could enter the Imperial Capital, the place of their dreams! At this critical juncture, they couldn’t afford any more trouble.
Dong Zhengyang declared, "Let me be frank. If anyone tries any more tricks or schemes, I, Dong Zhengyang, will not show any mercy!"
"Exactly. After so much hard work, we’re only this one step away. I don’t want to live with regrets for the rest of my life," Shen Long added, his eyes incredibly sharp.
Everyone nodded. In fact, these words were aimed purely at Dongfang Wuheng and Murong Xiong. Among everyone present, these two were the least trustworthy.
Qin Feiyang scanned the crowd and said, "I want to add one more thing." Everyone turned their attention to him.
"Before we set off, Commander Wang Hong said that only the first fifty people to reach the other shore can enter the Imperial Capital. Right now, aside from Wan Chou and his group, the people from the other major Prefectures are likely ahead of us. So, if we encounter trouble in the Bitter Sea, we must try to avoid it if possible and strive to catch up to them."
The nine major Prefectures were: Spirit State, Yun State, Void State, You State, Crane Province, Feng Province, Yu State, Kun Province, and Chang Province.
They could temporarily ignore Wan Chou from You State, Feng Wuxie and his four companions from Void State, and the people from Feng Province and Yu State, because they were all still on the Bridge of Helplessness.
Everyone knew how many people were left from Yun State and Crane Province. After Pan Wuyan’s death, Yun State was left with Mo Wushen, Yan Tianfeng, Pei Sanshi, and Liu Yunfeng—four people. Crane Province was left with only Tan Wu.
But they had never encountered anyone from Kun Province or Chang Province, so they had no idea how many people those groups had. What if the combined numbers from those two Prefectures exceeded fifty? Then even if they reached the other shore, they wouldn’t be qualified to enter the Imperial Capital.
Therefore, they had to make every second count. Lu Xingchen and the others naturally understood this. After Qin Feiyang finished speaking, they all nodded in agreement.
Qin Feiyang wasted no more time. He led everyone back onto the Bridge of Helplessness, paid no further attention to Wan Chou and his group, immediately walked off the Bridge of Helplessness, and headed towards the Bitter Sea.
Standing at the edge of the sea and gazing at the boundless Sea of Blood, the expressions on the faces of the group were exceptionally grave. Dong Zhengyang said worriedly, "Who knows what sort of dangers lurk in this Bitter Sea?"
Lu Xingchen said, "No matter what dangers there are, we must press forward."
Ren Wushuang’s brow furrowed slightly. She looked towards the Stele engraved with the words ’Bitter Sea,’ her gaze fixing on it. "Quick, look! There are some small words on that Stele."
The group approached and saw rows of small words. The contents were horrifying!
First: Once you enter the Bitter Sea, you cannot turn back. The moment you turn back, your body will instantly explode and you will die. Even glancing back is forbidden.
Second: Each canoe can only carry one person. If an additional person boards, the canoe will immediately sink into the Bitter Sea.
Third: Once a canoe enters the Bitter Sea, it cannot be rowed backward. Doing so will also cause it to sink into the sea.
Fourth: The waters of the Bitter Sea possess a terrifying ability: to erase the consciousness of living beings! The text explicitly stated that if one were to fall into the Bitter Sea, they would lose their sanity within three Star and transform into an emotionless Blood Puppet!
Jiang Wei swallowed hard and whispered, "Do you think... there are Blood Puppets like that in the Bitter Sea?"
"Definitely," Qin Feiyang answered without hesitation.
