I'm In Love With My Bestfriend's Billionaire Fiance!-Chapter 55: Blood And Pain
(Caseyโs POV)
________
"Iโm bleeding!!!" I echoed Jaceโs words as I felt a burning pain through my thigh, when I tried to take another step, I pitched forward, staggering a little. I would have fallen to the ground but Jace caught me just in time. ๐๐ป๐๐ฎ๐๐๐๐๐ค๐ซ๐ฎ๐.๐ฌ๐๐ข
"How did this happen?" Jace muttered, terrified as he held me in his arms.
I closed my eyes, trying to withstand the pain, "it must have been when I tried to get away from Ramon." I could remember when he had raised the dagger trying to stab me, but I fell instead which was why he missed me. Or I thought that he missed me. It turned out that he stabbed me in the thigh, but due to adrenaline and the excitement of the moment, I didnโt even notice it.
"Holy shit!" I gasped as I grabbed Jace by the collar. "It hurts!"
"I have to get you to the hospital, right now!" Jace said. He turned to Ethan, "Find out what you can from Ramon, Iโll take her to the hospital."
"Hell no!" Ethan replied, "Iโm not leaving you again! And thereโs nothing youโre saying that would change my mind. If youโre taking her to the hospital, Iโm coming with you."
"We donโt have time for this!"
"Jace..." I whispered. "He has a point. Besides, Iโm going to see this to the end. Iโm sure there will be something in Ramonโs house that we can use to patch the wound up. I know a little about First Aid, you know?"
"I donโt like this, Casey. You need to be treated, and doctors have to determine that youโre fine."
"Fine, Iโll go myself."
"No, Iโm not leaving your side, Casey." Jace was adamant, "I canโt bear to leave your side."
"Jace," I took his face in my hands. "Donโt you see whatโs going on here? I have to be here with you. Even if I do go to the hospital, you canโt come with me. What will people think when they see you bring me to the hospital with a gash on my thigh? The plan was to squash scandals, right? We shouldnโt help fuel it."
"Itโs you that doesnโt seem to get the fact that I donโt care about all that right now," Jace replied. "What if Ethan takes you? I trust him, and when youโre safe there heโll come back and weโll deal with Ramon together."
"I already told you that Iโm not leaving you alone again," Ethan said.
"Yeah," I agreed. "I donโt want to leave you either. Iโm seeing this to the end, Jace. Now, letโs figure out how to fix my leg and stop me from bleeding like a stuck pig."
I tried to take another step, but I winced with pain. With a grunt of frustration, Jace picked me up and carried me like a bride while he followed Ethan who was still carrying Ramon. We walked the short distance back to the ruined staircase and box, then we climbed up the stairs. We closed the door behind us, but due to the fact that Ethanโs kick had ruined it, it couldnโt lock the usual way, forcing us to make use of the deadbolt that was behind it.
Jace took me straight to the kitchen and sat me on the counter. He pushed some dishes out of the way, making more space. We left Ethan and Ramon in the living room, however, I could see them both from my perch on the counter. I watched as Ethan sat the unconscious man on a chair and tied him up with bedsheets from the bedroom.
"Hold on... what exactly is Ethan going to do to Ramon?" I asked suddenly.
Jace was looking through the cabinets and cupboards, opening doors as he looked for a First Aid kit, "heโs going to make Ramon talk, one way or the other."
I noted his tone and I felt uncomfortable, "Jace, I donโt like the sound of that. Youโre not gonna torture him, are you? You know thatโs illegal, and even if it isnโt, itโs not right!"
Jace stopped and turned to look at me, "are you seriously speaking for him? Babe, he almost killed you! He stabbed you in your damn thigh! He had the knife to your throat! Come on!"
"Thanks for the reminder," I replied with a roll of my eyes, "as if I wasnโt right there when it happened. I just donโt like this. Things are already going too far, I donโt want to make them worse just because weโre trying to make our lives better. What if he chooses to press charges?"
"Itโll be my word against his," Jace said flippantly. He then gave a whoop of joy as he finally found a circular plate in the cupboard overhead. However, when he opened it, the smile vanished, "well, I guess we can manage this."
He brought it over to me and showed me the contents, I saw a pair of scissors, some bandage, a bottle of mentholated spirit, and a roll of plaster. They were just enough to treat the wound. I took the plate from him and dropped it on the counter beside me.
I took his hand and squeezed it, "I know you want to make Ramon pay for what he did, but there is a better way to do this. You heard what he said during the fight, he was done being taken advantage of by rich folks, maybe if we show him that we care, he would be more willing to work with us."
"If heโs unwilling, Iโm sure Ethan would make him very willing."
"Iโm being serious, itโs talk like this that really scares me. Look at me Jace," I took his face with my free hand and turned it to face me, "This is us, Iโm fine. I donโt want you to get in trouble because of some weird sense of justice or vengeance. Iโm begging you, letโs do this the right way."
He slowly shook his head, "letโs talk about this when weโre done treating your wound." I didnโt want to drop the subject just yet, but i had to. He was right. The wound was more important.
He picked up the scissors and doused it in spirit to disinfect it.
"Wow... you also know your First Aid," I muttered impressed.
"Come on, all those years as a Boys Scout couldnโt go to waste, could it?" Jace began to cut through my yoga pants. He cut around the injury, exposing it. It was an ugly gash that was steadily leaking out blood. Just seeing it again seemed to make it all the more painful. I bunched my fists, trying to contain it.
As I studied the wound, I realized that it was no longer bleeding as badly as it had been. It was a good sign. The dagger had not gone deep enough to strike any major artery or vein. I was lucky.
"You should think about your pain first before you consider the welfare of the man who put it on you," Jace said as he picked up the spirit for the second time, I was about to say something but he cut me off even before the first word was out. "Brace yourself, this is going to hurt. A lot."
He took out a cotton wool and soaked it in spirit. Then, he began to clean the wound. The second it touched the injury, the burning pain that followed caused me to scream my lungs out.
Sadly, this was only just the beginning.
