Chapter 372: Chapter 372: Taking Care Means Taking Care

The air suddenly became ambiguous.

Cheng Zhirang tightened his throat and said, "Stop messing around."

Mu Qiu laughed while supporting his shoulder.

"Why do you always avoid such normal ambiguity?"

Cheng Zhirang sighed, with Lian Yan’s eyes looking at her: "What do you want me to say? It’s not appropriate now."

"Why is it inappropriate? We’re adults. How is it inappropriate for a boyfriend and girlfriend to progress further?"

"The timing isn’t right, and neither is the place."

He said it seriously, as if he had thought it through carefully, making Mu Qiu feel a bit uncomfortable.

"If it’s not appropriate, then it’s not. You decide."

Then she buried her head in the crook of his neck again.

Cheng Zhirang’s Adam’s apple rolled up and down, just about to speak again, when the phone suddenly rang.

It was a call from Chen Song.

Mu Qiu glanced at the caller ID, propped herself up to avoid it. Cheng Zhirang pulled her back with one hand: "It’s okay."

He answered the phone and called softly, "Sister Chen."

On the other end, there was the sound of high heels again, clicking, the voice crisp, but not too urgent.

"Are you with Mu Qiu?"

Cheng Zhirang stroked Mu Qiu and said, "Yes. We’re together."

Chen Song sighed deeply, "Really together. Is everything okay? Both of you."

"We’re fine, she was just a little scared."

Mu Qiu raised an eyebrow, wanting to say she wasn’t scared at all.

Chen Song continued speaking:

"Then keep her company. The situation online is still manageable, most of Cheng Zhi don’t have any opinions. Tang Zi has already been watching over it, nothing much should happen for now, and Mu Qiu handled the camera well."

Cheng Zhirang smiled at Mu Qiu and told Chen Song okay.

"Then I’ll trouble you to keep an eye on it, suppress anything involving personal information and other people."

"There’s no time to suppress others, when you fell, the others only helped you, only Li Yang helped Tang Zi and was careful to avoid suspicion. But it’s not serious, their fans controlled the comments to push people away. Don’t worry, take some time to calm Cheng Zhi down on Weibo."

"Okay."

Having notified those who needed to be notified, Cheng Zhirang prepared to hang up the phone, when Chen Song called out to wait a moment.

Then in a lower voice, she said, "If you’re taking care of someone, take care of them well, the two of you better not end up in bed together now. If you do, don’t rush to do it now."

Cheng Zhirang: "......"

Mu Qiu was lying close, hearing it all clearly, her mouth agape in amazement for a while.

"......Sister Chen Song, you’re so straightforward."

Chen Song’s tone was calm, as if she knew they were close: "I’ve already had children, must be better at this than you two. Okay, hanging up, have a good rest."

The call ended, Mu Qiu raised her eyes to look at Cheng Zhirang, and two seconds later couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

Was Chen Song worried a thirty-year-old man couldn’t control himself? She worried completely wrongly; Cheng Zhirang deserved the reputation of a decent gentleman, with no intention of behaving inappropriately.

Cheng Zhirang helplessly patted her head, "Aren’t you embarrassed?"

"Not at all, you know novels have sexual descriptions, right? I consider it a subject to study."

It’s just a normal human physiological need, not shameful or disgraceful, nothing that can’t be spoken of.

In reality, encountering too many people who avoid the topic of sex, embarrassed to speak of it, no one would face this subject so naturally.

This was the first time Cheng Zhirang met someone who thought this way, once again becoming deeply interested in her profession.

Though their professions were different, they had commonalities, a rare thing, and he often felt fortunate for this self-chosen coincidence.

After covering this digressive topic, their conversation returned to focusing on Tang Zi’s issue.

Cheng Zhirang: "Pushing her is still within the scope of self-defense, but other actions aren’t necessary. Like last time, that female student, her examination results already show a mild concussion, this could backfire on you."

He spoke earnestly, and Mu Qiu listened seriously. After hearing it all, she asked him with a frown, "So should I just endure it?"

"We can use other ways to retaliate. Think about it, when did you start feeling that it’s satisfying to hit people?"

"...High school."

"Why did you have such thoughts? Did someone demonstrate incorrectly to you?"

"My former neighbors were a middle-aged couple, one a high school teacher, the other a kindergarten principal, but they had a bad temper, the man often slapped the woman in front of everyone, and the woman, when angry, hit their daughter.

The woman was most afraid of being slapped, always crying and pleading for the man to stop, admitting she was wrong.

Although I found it disgusting, sometimes I couldn’t help but wonder, why was she so afraid? Is slapping really that satisfying? Addictive? When I’m especially mad, can I do it too? Can I make others fear me like that?"

Cheng Zhirang gently rubbed her waist, thought for a moment, and said softly:

"Everyone’s behaviors are constrained within a net, morals and rationality restrain us. But there’s always someone who loves to tear a hole, wanting to become someone they consider unique.

He lacks enough confidence, lacks enough security, and is willing to numb himself, so he increases his momentum through irrational means.

But this isn’t right. When you witness such behavior, you need to think: is he right? Why does he do this? I mustn’t become like him; I should have better solutions."

After saying this long paragraph, he gently added, "But you don’t need to change, I’ll work hard to provide you with enough security, setting a good example for you."

Mu Qiu’s heart was about to melt into a hot spring, hugging his waist, she mumbled, "What does this mean, because I’m your girlfriend, you’ll cover for me? Girlfriend privileges?"

"A privilege just for you."

Mu Qiu stayed silent for a while, stubbornly asking later, "What if I do something more immoral, more irrational? Would you regret agreeing to date me so hastily?"

"Everyone has more or fewer little flaws, but they can be guided, we can correct them together."

"Brother Cheng."

Cheng Zhirang softly responded: "Hmm?"

"I haven’t said, I really super duper especially like you."

Cheng Zhirang was taken aback, those pretty eyes smiling, with the corners forming a captivating upward curve.

This section was inspired by a small couple’s vignette I saw on Weibo.

The vignette was about a girl who was a bit stingy, liked to eat alone, and really didn’t like sharing her snacks with others. This made many friends not fond of her.

Then the boy told her that if she shared her snacks with friends or classmates once, he would buy her more of her favorite things as a reward.

The girl, tempted by this surprise, began to try hard, forcing herself to share, gradually finding sharing snacks with friends not difficult anymore, and the relationship between the two improved a lot. The boy used this guiding method to make her better.

Alas, usually a sour singleton, I felt utterly disfigured with jealousy while writing this section.
