Chapter 139: Never Say Never

Arc 2, Chapter 139 — Never Say Never.

.

.

Battle 2 left everyone shaking in their seats. Both combatants were just too good... good enough to make many a cluster of sensations in their hearts.

BOOM!

The ground beneath the arena cracked from the explosive force their attacks created.

With practiced precision, Artilla sidestepped her neck attack, twisting in the air into a sonic tornado. Her movements were fluid and deliberate, but her opponent’s wasn’t bad either.

Pushing his glasses in, Hendrix twirled his giant fountain pen, drawing a circle around himself seconds before the Artilla—in the form of a Tornado—landed.

Time seemed to have paused, but the battle between the 2 didn’t. Artilla switched between her fan and her whip Shard, while Hendrix showed just how diverse a single Fountain pen could be.

~Slash!

The top of his pen sliced through the empty air, sending waves of destruction that left deep craters on the arena’s floors.

"You’re good."

"You’re not bad yourself either."

Both sides exchanged conversation each time they clashed and separated.

Hendrix built fortitude walls with his ink, blocking her attacks. At the same time, he unleashed hidden only daggers of his own but still failed.

Artilla’s situation was similar. Both tried looking for openings, many times forcing openings to emerge by making planned attack moves.

At this point, the fight escalated rapidly. It moved so fast that the spectators felt it was a good short.

Hendrix stood on one spot, twirling his pen all around him as Artilla kept vanishing and appearing in different angles. The girl was adamant, striking in a blur of motion like a phantom.

~BROOM!

The entire crackled into shambles, it’s from no longer holding up. But this was just great.

In a millisecond, it looked like Artilla could control time itself!

All the giant blocks that shattered, kicking them brutally before they could fall back again. And as expected, Hendrix quickly splashed ink here and there, blocking all attacks.

—There’s an opening!

’Here’s my chance!’

Artilla swapped in with glistening eyes, plunging forth like a bullet. However, barely inches from touching him, Hendrix revealed a fascinating smirk that made her jump back.

~BAM!

It was a Trap! Hendrix too had let himself wide open, setting a trap for Artilla.

Inky explosives bubbled like acid, splashing out and almost burning a few others closer to the arena. But of course, they started the attack before it could hit them.

Damn, so fierce!

"Both sides can’t afford to be careless."

"That’s for sure. You see the one called Hendrix... He behaves too much like a wolf in sheep’s clothing. You’d think his Elegance meant he was weaker, but his mind is sharper and his attacks are devious and harsh."

"The girl is also ruthless! From start to finish, she hasn’t given that guy any chance to breathe. And look at her carefully."

"I used to think that those who just rush in and throw their fists around are those with fish brains and impulsive natures. But this Artilla makes me beg to differ."

"Can’t argue with that. She’s in full control, no rashness in her actions despite often stroking first."

"Yeah, her brain is also calculative like Hendrix’s... I guess that must be the reason they were paired, apart from the obvious reasons of them having similar Shard attributes."

The battle between the two caused the audience to go gaga, including those watching from above.

Viletta let out a thick whiff of smoke, finding both Hendrix and Artilla intriguing.

"Big sister Villy, this year has some tough people huh." Sayako’s hands were in her face, munching on snacks while keeping her eyes glued to the stage.

She couldn’t lie, even she was mesmerized by the many peculiar Bloodren 10s she observed.

Rika also watched in interest, while ruffling the little girl’s hair. It was fascinating to all 3 women that so many Bloodren 10s had successfully caught their attention in just one year.... No, it was even up to a year.

"It seems it’s not wrong to give so much attention to these little tadpoles."

"It’s expected." Viletta agreed. As for why it was expected, even she herself didn’t know.

In here, she might be a major Boss, but there were always others high above even the Big Bosses many revered them to be.

An order was given and it was carried out to the latter.

Sayoko—Department Head In charge of Logistics—had ensured these Bloodren 10s were the most comfortable Bloodren 10s in the Organization’s History!

~Bam! Bam! Boom! Pah! Bam!

The match was an eye-twister, one many would comment on, at least for quite some time.

Slow down, okay? Even though they were special, they were still Bloodren 10s, after all.

Who would like to talk about a bunch of Bloodren 10s forever? The fact of the matter is that If these Bloodren 10s don’t keep up with the times and fade away, then there’s nothing anyone can do.

Their present glory will become a distant glory, blurring their facing in many people’s memories.

"CALL!"

The match was finally over.

"Artilla Ferra vs Hendrix Von L... DRAW!"

Another Tie.

Artilla took a deep breath, as did Hendrix. They nodded in tactful acknowledgement before heading off the stage. Artilla headed for the tunnel, and Hendrix followed behind.

With that, the second battle was over.

—And now, many were twisting in their seats, ready for the well deserved beatdown to begin.

Great, this was the moment they have been waiting for!

"Hey, is it true? Is it true that a Nobody, a worthless piece of shit with a pile 1 shard, was paired to fight amongst the best with a Pile 24 shard?"

"Hmph! I don’t know how in the flipping Hell did it happen, but it’s true. To think I wasted my emotions on a worthless bastard 2 weeks ago... So angry."

"Tch. What was his name again? Lototocus Beathold? No... that’s not it. I knew the name 2 weeks ago. But since knowing his worth, I eliminated his name from my memory. Why the hell would I want to recall the name of a worthless piece of junk?"

"Leviticus... Letotocus, Levardonos, or whatever he’s called, I don’t care!... I came solely to watch this guy get pulverized to death by the one called Victorio."

"Me too! I’m here for revenge for my wasted emotions last 2 weeks. How dare shit that isn’t as tough as cow dung, dares to get my attention this way?"

Dammit, it was so HATEFUL!

Many in the crowd squirmed in fury, as though it was Levon’s fault he was drafted to fight against Voictorio.

This was just ridiculous, okay? If you want to blame someone, why not blame the order or the arena staff who drew up the matches?

In her booth, a soft chuckle escaped Viletta’s lips. "Finally, it’s time."

"Big sister Villy, I still don’t get why you’re so hooked up on that guy."

"Indeed. I haven’t been able to figure it out either."

Both Sayako and Rika who were here during the last match 2 weeks ago, felt there wasn’t much to look at in this Levon Guy. If they had their way, they would have long forgotten his name.

But who made this guy have a special place in Villeta’s heart? Because of this, they found themselves subconsciously thinking of what possible mystery had Villeta drawn to such a weak Bloodren 10.

In another booth, LaCroft sat alongside 2 coteries, who also kept silent, as they listened to the drowning crowd.

"Sir, it is time."

"Indeed." LaCroft’s eyes that always looked like a smile, turned even more crescent as he watched.

"Levon Belmont..." He muttered his name, intrigue cloaking his tone.

But LaCroft wasn’t the only one fascinated. The other Department Heads had sent Lieutenants and major powers to watch this match in particular.

Was it for Levon, or for Victorio?.... Who knows...

Either way, more formidable forces appeared, shocking the arena even more than it did 2 weeks ago.

What’s going on? Who can explain to them why so many big wings were coming to watch a mere chicken fight?

Was there some unknown secret they were hiding?

No! They must be here to Watch the one called Victorio fight instead, right?

Many felt it should be so. And in truth, they were right, as a majority did come for Victorio.

However, a select few DID come for the one they called Trash!

Gaw-Kakaka-Kakakakakaka~

Gaara laughed at the top of his lungs when seated beside another Lieutenant of his–Lieutenant Llyod.

Lloyd wore a hat with 4-leaf clovers printed all around its outer surface. He also had on a lucky charm tie, and an umbrella held in place underneath his armpit.

Whether rain, snow, or sunshine, he always had this umbrella.

"A pile 1 shard?" Llyod frowned. "Head, I dont get why you’d be interested in such a person. It’s true that Pile one Bloodrens still have a chance of becoming strong. But let’s face it, they will never reach the upper ranks even in a thousand years. So why all the attention?"

Have you ever heard of a Lieutenant or even a Coterie or Vice-coterie with a PILE 1 SHARD?

Impossible!

Even those 15 more levels below them can’t be so weak!

Lloyd didn’t understand Gaara’s sudden obsession with such a weakling. However, Gaara said nothing, only laughing heartily as the crowd spoke menacingly of Levon.

As they say in life: Never say Never.

Why? Because sometimes, Reality was stranger than fiction.
