I Will Create a Good Ending for the Yandere Villainess-Chapter 148: Second Layer of the Forest of Disruption? [9]
Before Lillian could fully complete her thought, the Spider leapt at her. And... It was fast.
Lillian twisted her body to the side—
SWOOSH!
—Narrowly dodging a rapid stab from the Spider. The wind from the attack coldly brushed against her face.
With a groan, she swung her Odachi down on the leg. However, compared to before, when she used purely her physical abilities, she used her mana.
SWISH!
The hand that clutched the Odachi's hilt—glowed an ethereal faint blue. But despite the added boost, she still missed her target.
Thump...
The edge of her blade sank into the dirt, carrying her along due to the momentum. She pushed one foot out, balancing herself, before raising her eyes to the side.
The Spider stood. Tall. And menacing as the fog seemed to blur its face a little.
Its legs, which stretched like noodles from its body, flailed and swayed slowly in the air like tentacles.
And at each end was an intimidating spike that shone a metallic lustre. As they swayed in the air—
Swish... Swish... Swish...
—The tip of the spike seemed as though it was stretching it apart, dragging and ripping through.
Lillian eyed it cautiously, shifting her body into a stance. She just had to reduce its mana levels down to zero. That way...
She could have an even higher chance of winning.
A higher chance of winning against a monster with an attack power that could break through the tough, black armour of a Carapace Hunter.
She gritted her teeth and leaned her weight onto one leg. After that, she leaned back, raising the odachi's black blade from the ground.
However, after she managed to do this, the Spider, who had watched as Lillian pointed her blade at it, made its next move.
Like a fierce whip, it swung one of its right legs at her, tearing through the greyish fog. Its spike darted at her with a merciless light and moved into a stab.
Lillian, in response, raised her sword over her shoulder and swung it down—empowered with her mana's enhancing capabilities.
The fog parted out the way of the Spider's stab. The fog split out of the way of their sword's swing. And just as they were about to meet—
SWISH!
—The Spider shifted its attack.
Lillian's eyes quickly glanced at the tentacle-like leg as it made a 90-degree turn.
It moved out of the way, just about avoiding her swing. It then curved around her sword and aimed at her face.
Lillian watched as it dangerously neared her face. But it was slower than before.
Its turn must've made it lose most of its built-up speed.
She relaxed her face and—
SPLASH!
—Let it tear through the centre of her head.
Her body then went still as her entire head exploded into water, leaving the Spider, stunned as well.
While it was frozen for a moment, in the corner of its many eyes, it watched as water from Lillian's head converged into many points in the air.
Droplets gathered before shooting towards the Spider's eyes.
It leaned back, dodging the sharp droplets. As its leg was pulled back from where Lillian's head used to be—it was suddenly cut off.
The water stretched from the stump of her neck, shaping and reforming into a familiar face and head.
Once Lillian's face regained its colour, a frown was stretched across her lips.
She had almost died.
Just a split second later and she would have died.
Her eyes watched as the Spider backed away, staring curiously at the new serious wound it had received.
It didn't look the slightest bit fazed at what had just happened.
Lillian stared at it as well before looking towards the severed part of its leg. It lay on the floor, draining soaked in high-pressure blood.
She then raised her eyes towards the Spider and noticed a crimson rain falling upon her.
The Spider, holding up its stump, aimed at the stream of blood that left its body at high speed like a water gun.
Lillian held up her hand, intending to counter with a torrent of water but was inevitably too slow.
It washed over her like a waterfall, painting her body. She could even taste as some got past her lips.
It was bitter, acidic and sour.
She tried to shield her face as best as she could with her arms, having already stored away the odachi. But ultimately, she closed her eyes to prevent the blood from getting in.
Who knew what sort of toxic effects it could have on her eyes?
Soon enough... The waves of blood finally stopped its seemingly endless stream.
But before she could even have time to recover and wipe her eyes clean, something slammed into her left side.
It squeezed the gap between her side and arm. Her body leaned to the left, folding over what had slammed into her.
And then...
BAM!
The sound finally arrived.
Her blood-red dyed hair fluttered through the wind as she flew.
Her body was like a ragdoll as it bounced along the ground.
Thud...! Thud...! Thud! Thud!
The intervals between each bounce become shorter. And so was her flight, which was about to come to an end.
A conspicuous tree, in line with her trajectory, shuddered as something crashed into it.

THUMP!
What made contact with it was a light-brown chest plate made with what could be from a creature's exoskeleton.
Thud...
"Argh..." Lillian fell onto her right side, lying over the exposed, uneven roots of the tree with a pained and dazed expression. She had fortunately called upon the chest plate at the last second, but that doesn't mean she didn't feel like shit...
"Shit... that's the best way I can describe it..." Using her right arm, she pushed herself up, resting her back against the tree.
Her eyes were closed tight. Be it from the pain of having air forcefully knocked out of you, the pain of feeling the bones in your arm almost shatter, or the dizziness of something akin to a cruel hangover.
"Ah... I think its a mixture of both, really..." Lillian chuckled, shakily pushing herself up. She then spat on the ground before washing her face and body in water.
"What a pain... what a pain..." She chanted over and over as she wiped her face with her left hand.
Her entire right arm was currently numb. Hard to move for now.
She stared at it before shaking her head. She moved her left hand into the air and dragged out a red potion. A healing potion. She wasn't going to take any chances. At least... Not against this thing.
After yanking out the cork with her teeth, she held it up to her lips.
And just as she was about to drink it...
Whistle... SHATTER!
A blur passed by, shattering the bottle in her hand and allowing the solution to fall onto her clothes. The hand that clutched the neck of the broken glass bottle shook.
Lillian gritted her teeth as she glanced to her left, staring at a quill that had landed in the ground at an inclined angle. She wrapped her left hand around her right arm before hissing:
"Piece of shi—"
However, just as she was about to finish her sentence, she realised something.
Click...
Why did it land in this direction?
Click... Click...
Shouldn't the Spider be all the way in front of her?
Click... Click... Click...
Lillian quickly turned to the side, summoning and swinging her odachi horizontally. As her blade cleaved through the greyish fog; something else shot out from it as well.
CLANG!
Something collided with the underside of her sword, causing it to be sent upwards. And because of the weight and momentum, Lillian was carried along.
However, due to her only holding onto it with one hand, it soon slipped out of her grip despite the gritty support of the hilt.
SWISH...!
And not a moment later, whatever had caused this, took advantage.
A familiar metallic spike, narrow and long, pierced through the fog and towards her shoulder. It was at a speed she could react to.
SPLASH! CRACK—THUD!
The spike passed through her shoulder, creating a hole through the tree behind her and also breaking a part of her chest plate.
Lillian gave a quick breath before tilting her body to the side. Once there wasn't anything through the area of her shoulder she fixed it.
With her shoulder back, she pushed against what remained of the tree and dashed back.
But the relentless attack continued to come.
PSHT!
Another spike shot out, attached to a long, spindly black limb.
As it snaked towards her shoulder again—once more at a speed she could react to, for some reason—she planted her feet in the ground, skidding back a bit.
She then controlled the mana inside her body and moved it towards her shoulder again. She'll just pass through the attack again.
But as she thought this... she noticed something off about the spike. Something off about the entire limb darting towards her.
Splash...!
And... there was something off about her shoulder as well... She felt an odd thick and warm... liquid... splash against the right side of her face.
And then... a pain... that overwhelmed the numbing arrived.
But before she could even process what had happened, she was suddenly...
