I Want to Die, But I Am Immortal-Chapter 82: Revenge (6)
JokerX’s dread was giving way to impatient wrath as he emerged from his hiding place. He roared at his soldiers, "Go and see what happened at the main gate!" "Why can not we reach the others? Find out what is happening!"
His remarks served as Adam’s cue.
Adam rose slightly from behind the counter. He rested his two silenced pistols on top of the counter to provide stability. His first and only target was JokerX.
He did not hesitate. His fingers gripped the triggers.
Phhh. Phht.
His weapons fired two shots. They passed through the room in an instant. One bullet crashed into JokerX’s chest, pushing him off balance. The second hit him firmly in the forehead.
In his closing moments, JokerX felt only a flash of extreme pain. He did not know who had slain him. He did not notice his attacker. But as the darkness drew in, he had a fleeting notion. He would taken the wrong case. He would make a grave error. And now it was the end for him. The misery had overtaken him, and he dropped to the floor in a lifeless heap.
The sound of JokerX’s corpse striking the floor caused everyone to turn. The mercenaries focused their attention from the entrance gate to the center of the room. Adam stood up just as their gazes lifted to the DJ counter.
He raised to his full height, two pistols pointed at the remaining soldiers. There were ten of them remaining. Ten mercenaries stared at him, their looks confused and horrified. They were all that remained of JokerX’s army. Eighteen of their comrades were killed in the two passageways. Now their leader lay dead at their feet.
Adam did not allow them time to deal with their loss. He did not give them time to rally. He did not hesitate. He opened fire.
The silent pistols coughed forth a constant stream of rounds. And when he fired, he experienced a familiar sensation. Iron Skin, a passive skill, was already active. His skin hardened into a subdermal armor plating capable of deflecting their retaliatory fire. He was ready to fight. He was prepared to end this.
Adam did not want to stand still. He jumped over the counter. He landed on the other side with no sound. His plan was straightforward. He would keep moving. He would keep attacking. He would not stop.
He started running around the room. He was a swift shadow that moved between the beautiful tables and chairs. He sprang from one piece of furniture to another. He was really difficult to see.
He was always shooting his firearms. Many of his rounds missed. They struck the walls and the floor. But many of his rounds struck the soldiers. The warriors yelled with pain.
They attempted to shoot back at him. But he was too quick. It was like attempting to shoot a ghost. They dropped one by one to the floor. They were all dying.
Then his guns were empty. He would used all of his bullets. He did not stop jogging. He made the empty guns disappear. They went back to his inventory. His knife materialized in his palm. The sharp blade shone in the darkened room.
He dashed towards the final few soldiers. He was pretty fast. They could not see him properly. They could not aim their weapons at him. He was simply a blur of action. Then he was right by them.
He dashed to the corner of the room. Eric and Joseph were present. They were guarded by two troops. The soldiers were observing the combat from the center of the room. They did not see Adam coming.
He moved behind them. His knife moved like lightning. He cut both of their throats in one swift movement. The soldiers produced a quiet gurgling noise. They dropped their weapons. They dropped to the floor at Eric and Joseph’s feet. They were dead.
Eric and Joseph both stared. Their mouths were open. They could not believe what they were witnessing. They noticed Adam standing over the dead men. His expression was frigid.
He displayed no emotion. This was not the Adam they knew. This was not their friend. This was a monster. They were terribly sad and afraid. They had betrayed the monster. They would sold him for money. They did not realize he was so deadly. They would made a huge mistake.
Adam did not glance at them. He said nothing to them. He did not care about them. His job was not completed.
He dashed towards the final few soldiers. They were near the main entryway. They were finally prepared to battle. They were raising their large cannons to fire.
Adam’s senses were extremely keen. He noticed a burst of light from one of the rifles. He noticed a little bit of metal flying towards him. That was a bullet. It was heading straight toward his head.
He was really fast, but the bullet was faster. He did not have enough time to get out of the way. He attempted to duck his head. But he was not quick enough.
The bullet struck him directly in the middle of his forehead.
He closes his eyes. He waited for the pain. He waited for death. He waited for the world to turn black.
But nothing occurred.
He felt a little sting. He heard a gentle ping sound. He opened his eyes.
He noticed the gunshot on the floor. It was flat. It was broken. It had smacked his head and then bounced away. He looked at it. He did not understand. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
