Chapter 84: Chapter 84: Vision

|Catharina von Xenotra - Heiress of Baron Xenotra|

It has been seven days since we marched from Shadowfall City, and we should arrive in a few more minutes. The journey is a quiet one. After talking with Lord Verqur in the past, he left me alone and did not seek me.

I’m still standing by what I said in the past. I will stand with the Southerners; it gets stronger as I look at their land as we get past them. The Southern territory had so much potential that it is a wonder why it did not become the powerhouse of the entire kingdom.

The land is fertile as I can see a large farmland full of vegetables, rice, wheat, and even fruits growing from the ground. There are also mountain formations that surround the Southern territory.

I don’t know if those mountains have anything in them, but I’m willing to bet that it was full of precious metal. Those mountains must have gold, iron, copper, silver, or even diamond.

I also saw a group of farmers killing a group of monsters as if it was an everyday occurrence. They kill a group of twenty-two monsters. They are low-level monsters, but they are farmers, not soldiers.

If the South decides to do conscription, they will have soldiers with a basic foundation in fighting. However, when I asked Gwyndolin about it, he said it is a noble duty to protect the commoner, not vice versa.

That means they will fight using their soldiers rather than their people as long as they do not get pushed to the corner. Because the commoner will join voluntarily if they get pushed to the corner, and Gwyndolin will not reject their offer.

"Cat"

I snap from my thoughts and see Jonathan looking out of the carriage. Veronica also looks out of the carriage.

"We are here."

I nod and look out of the carriage to see we are walking through a pathway between two massive chasms. I guess I understand why the Gokuya Kingdom has difficulty going through this place. With these chasms, they can only move in one direction: to go through the Bloody Fortress.

It is like the history I once read in the past—a famous history of a famous battle between seven thousand men against fifty thousand men. The fewer one is the one who is defeated, but they manage to hold the ground and kill many enemies before they can go through the place they are defending.

However, the difference is that the Cunningham Family built a fortress in front of the chasms, while the historical battle did not have anything and only used their shield as a wall to block the enemy and the natural defense as their tower.

It did not take long, maybe three minutes, before the carriage stopped, and I opened the door.

When I leave the carriage, my jaw drops open when I see the sight in front of me. What is in front of me is a giant crater, six meters deep and more than a hundred meters in diameter. What happened here? What kind of battle is happening in this place?!

Did a meteor come from space and hit this place? Has a nuclear bomb hit this place?

I look at the forest around it and see all of them have been burned down by whoever is doing this. However, for some reason, only the forest toward the Gokuya Kingdom, which is burned to the ground, and the one behind where the Bloody Fortress is supposed to be is fine.

Some kind of barrier? A barrier that is strong enough to block what looks like a mini nuclear bomb or maybe even an actual nuclear bomb. Shit! Does this place have radiation?! Crap! I don’t want to die of cancer or become a mutant.

Calm down, Catharina. This world did not have Nuclear Weapons just yet. Maybe it was a powerful spell that could create a blast so big it creates a crater but does not leave radiation. Yeah, let’s be optimistic for now.

I can see the people around me have the same expression. When Gwyndolin gets off of his horse, Lord Verqur walks toward him and says.

"What happened here, Heir Gwyndolin?"

I can see him smile coldly and say.

"Oh? This? I made This small trap for the enemy when they got inside the fortress. A crystal that contains the most powerful and volatile explosion that kills anyone and anything in its radius. Sadly, the explosion also destroyed the fortress as well. Oh well."

"Oh well?! That is all you say?! Building that fortress will take years!"

"I know. That is why I am preparing something for this."

I see a small black hole appear next to him. He puts his hand inside the black hole, and a second later, he takes out a scroll.

After taking the scroll, he walks toward the crater and kneels on the edge of it. He opens the scroll and slams his hand.

"Come! [Mobile Fortress]!"

A second later, the ground fills up and is followed by a massive fortress complete with twelve meters tall walls surrounding the castle. I can see ten towers around the wall, two of which are as high as thirty meters tall.

What kind of item is that?! Is that a scroll that stores a fortress, or was it a scroll that makes a fortress?!

Both options are ridiculous. If it was the first, that means Gwyndolin made a fortress in secret and stored it inside a scroll. How? I have heard of a bag that can store a lot of items, but I never see a scroll that can do that. Not only that, storing a fortress?! How many items does he have inside his body?! And will it be the same size as this one?! Or is there anything bigger than this one?!

As for the second option, how?! I had never heard of magic that could do that. Is it his [Druid] talent? Or is it his [Astrologian] talent? [Druid] is the one that makes more sense, but the fortress should be made of wood, not stone and steel (for the gate).

As for his [Astrologian]... I don’t know. By the sound of its name, it is related to Star, but what kind of star power did that let him summon a fucking fortress?!

By other people’s looks, I’m not the only one thinking how ridiculous his power is.

This thing alone can change the flow of a war. Can you imagine a fucking fortress appearing in front of your capital city or in the middle of your supply route? The enemy would be fucked. Just make sure to march stealthy and create a big fuck off fortress in the middle of the enemy supply route and watch the chaos.

I look at Lord Verqur and notice he is thinking deeply. Good. Think about your choice because I know I don’t want to be the enemy of the South right now.

I snap from my thoughts when Gwyndolin walks toward us with a smile on his face. I shudder a little because that is not his genuine smile. That smile makes him look like a purebred villain rather than making him look like a misunderstood person.

"Please follow me, my lord. I will take you around the fortress."

I can see the hesitation in Lord Verqur’s eyes before nodding his head. However, before walking with Gwyndolin, he looks at me and nods. I know what that means. I give him a small nod and take a different direction between him and Gwyndolin.

Veronica and Jonathan follow me to the other side of the fortress, and when we are far away enough, and no one is looking at us, I kneel and touch the ground.

"Activate. [Postcognition Vision]!"

I guide the talent and find the vision I want to see. After searching for a few seconds, I find it and absorb that memory. A second after I did that, my mind got a rush of visions.

I can see the start of the battle between Lord Alexander and the enemy commander. I can see how he fools the enemy commander into using his power and letting him wreak havoc on their backline. I see how Lord Alexander almost gets killed but gets rescued by his son.

I can see Lord Lionheart and Lord Tarrow coming into the fortress with their army getting nervous the more they get inside the fortress.

I can see Gwyndolin kill the spy from Lionheart’s army and make a deal with the captain of the Silver Wolf Mercenary.

I can see how Jullian takes his group and uses them as a hit-and-run tactic on the enemy backline.

I can see Sonia and her group healing and protecting many people from the wall.

Most importantly, I see Gwyndolin summon massive creatures into reality. I can see Azure Dragon, Vermillion Bird, White Tiger, Black Tortoise, and Golden Qilin fight the enemy’s summoned creatures.

I can see them get on a rampage when the Azure Dragon tries to block that unblockable attack to no avail, and the attack hits Gwyndolin. I see Gwyndolin screaming in pain as his left arm is gone, and his subordinate tries to help him.

Lastly, I see how the second army manages to capture the fortress after a hard fight against the summoned creatures and see the leader of the army touch the crystal in the middle of the Lord’s Office before it blows up. I can see a massive mushroom cloud and how that explosion kills all the army of the Gokuya Kingdom.

After that was done, I staggered a little, but Jonathan managed to catch me.

"How is it, Cat?"

I look at him and say.

"We need to talk to your father, Jon. If the North decide to fight them, we are fucked."
