Chapter 138: Chapter 138: The Feast

|3rd POV|

People start to come to the Sun Palace, the palace of the Verlagan Royal Family. All kinds of nobles and even rich merchants get inside the palace to connect with other rich merchants and nobles.

The feast is located in the throne room, which is decorated with an elegant red carpet and silk hanging around the room.

Among those people inside the throne room are Gwyn and his companion. They are wearing the clothes that the king prepared for them so they can blend in with the other people who come.

Some people still see them in a weird way because they are different from the people on the Western Continent, but most of them think that Gwyn and his companion are a merchant from the other continent who gets invited by the royal family.

"Can we leave this room, young master? I think I’m getting sick."

"He is right, my lord. The smell is too overbearing."

Perfume. That is what makes them sick. The people in this room use too much perfume and combine it with the other perfume; it creates something that Jullian and Jonathan cannot handle. Even Silva, Hilda, and Sonia look uncomfortable at the smell of the abomination concoction of hundreds of perfumes.

"I really want to leave as well, Jonathan, Jullian. However, we cannot leave now because the king personally invited us to this feast."

Gwyn can hear his two guards groan in pain and decide to go back to eating the food in front of them.

After completing the quests from the guild, the six of them go back to the palace three hours before the feast starts and are immediately led by the servant to the bathhouse, where they clean their body and change their clothes.

The servants asked them if they wanted to use perfume, but Gwyn and his companion decided to decline the offer.

"I wonder how long this feast will last."

"Hmmm? Why is that, Silva?" 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

"A feast from the royal family will last long, dear. Not only that, it is a feast the king prepares for someone. You have one, right? The feast in the Capital City where you get your Grandmaster title from the king."

Gwyn gets pale at her word. He remembers how terrible the previous feast was and how long it was. He remembers how many people he needs to talk to and how many of them try to get their daughter into his pants.

"Damn. The option to leave is getting more and more captivating."

If not for the king, who is kind to them, Gwyn will leave, and the others will be happy to follow him. However, Gwyn respects the king enough to give him some face.

"Announcing! Mehrdad Verlagan III! King of Verlagan Kingdom! The Chosen of the Sun! The Brightest King! Alongside him is the Queen, Azita Verlagan, and their children!"

Gwyn blinks for a few seconds and says in a low voice.

"Rather a pretentious title, isn’t it?"

The others nod their heads in agreement. However, they did not voice it because they knew a king needed a pretentious title to make themselves greater and gain more prestige. That might sound stupid, and it is, but they are working.

That kind of title is not for the nobles but for the commoner who lacks education, unlike the nobles who learn from a young age. The commoner will see the king as some sort of deity walking among them, and they will trust the monarch more.

The King stands in front of the throne with his wife, the queen, standing on his right, and his children standing on his left. The prime minister stands next to the children, while the royal healer stands next to the queen.

"Welcome! Welcome to the feast! I welcome you all to the Sun Palace! Before we start the feast, I need to make an announcement! My son, the crown prince, has been cured of his disease!"

Gwyn can hear people start to whisper to each other, some in excitement and some with a calculating manner. Some of the nobles already think of using the prince to fulfill their agenda, especially the one with a daughter.

"And all of this happened because of one person! One person is the one healing my son!"

And the whispers get louder.

"All of this happened thanks to the Grandmaster of Medicine of the Gipan Kingdom of the Southern Continent, Gwyndolin Alexander Cunningham!"

Gwyn puts down his glass at that word and walks toward the throne. When he arrives in front of the king, Mehrdad nod and says.

"Gwyndolin Alexander Cunningham! I declare that you will be the friend of the Verlagan from now on until the end of your lifespan! You also get the title of a Healer, and I declare you an honorary Viscount of Verlagan Kingdom. I cannot give you land, for you are not a citizen of the Verlagan Kingdom, but you will still get all the noble privileges from now on."

After that word, the people start to cheer for a minute before the king continues.

"Kneel"

Gwyn nods and starts to kneel in front of the king. The prime minister takes a beautiful scimitar out of the sheath and gives it to the king. The king takes the sword and places it on Gwyn’s right shoulder.

"In the name of Shakmeh, I name you the Honorary Viscount of the Verlagan Kingdom. May your name be known throughout the kingdom as you are the Noble of this kingdom. Gwyndolin Alexander Cunningham, I declare before the eyes of the Gods and Men that you are a noble. Raise!"

Gwyn gets up and hears people start to clap at his new title. He looks at the king in confusion when he leans over him.

"I’m sorry."

"What?"

Gwyn looks at him in confusion, but he soon gets his answer as he gets surrounded by a lot of people asking if he can heal their friend or family.

It takes every bit of his will to answer all of their questions, and after he does that, he joins back to his group and releases a tired sigh.

"Fufufufu~ You are doing great, dear."

Silva chuckles a little and pats him on the back.

"Silva is right, Gwyn. You are doing great. You manage to make sure you do not give them a promise that you cannot fulfill and not offend them at the same time. It looks like our teaching is working."

Gwyn can only shudder at the thought of Silva and Hilda teaching. She can already imagine if he did not do good in this meeting—an even harder training.

He shakes his head and drinks the wine to calm his nerves. He decided to enjoy the feast and make sure his bodyguards did not get too drunk and cause a problem because the two of them were the loud kind of drunk.

While he is eating and drinking, one person walks toward him. He is a middle-aged man in his late forties, with a posture that shows he is a fighter and warrior. He did not have overly bulky muscle, but his muscle was big enough to make his clothes look ready to burst. He is also tall, more than two meters tall.

Walking next to him is a beautiful woman around the same age as the man, and she has beautiful long silver hair and purple eyes. She is a head shorter than the man and has a lean body, but Gwyn can still see muscle beneath the clothes.

Another warrior, Gwyn thought.

"Greeting, Grandmaster Gwyndolin Alexander Cunningham."

Gwyn holds back a groan as he cannot get used to his title being said as if it was his name. Combine it with his full name, it was quite a mouthful, and he did not like it.

"Greetings. I’m sorry, but who are you?"

"My name is Behnam Rezghi, and this is my wife, Anahita Rezghi."

"It is nice to meet you, Lord Behnam and Lady Anahita. What can I do for you?"

The man takes a deep breath and bows at Gwyn. The young man can only blink in surprise as the giant of a man bows his head.

"Lord Rezghi?!"

"Please! Please help us, Grandmaster! Please cure us of our disease!"

Gwyn looks for a few seconds and says.

"Please raise your head and tell me what the problem is."

"Yes! My wife and I have been married for over twenty years but have never been blessed with a child. We have asked many healers, but they cannot heal us. Please! Help us. I swear on my family name. I will compensate you generously."

Gwyn looks at the king and sees him nodding. After getting the confirmation, Gwyn looks at the pair and says,

"I first need to check on you. Are you okay with that?"

"Yes! Please!"

Gwyn nods and quickly equips his gear before casting his spell.

"[Stats Scan]"

He frowns a little after he gets the feedback from his spell. Gwyn rubs his chin for a few seconds and looks Lord Behnam right in the eyes.

"There is good news and bad news."

"Tell us the bad news first."

"The bad news is that this is not a disease but a poison. Someone has been feeding you poison for the past twenty years to ensure the two of you had no children."

The entire room explodes as people start to shout at that news. Preventing someone from having a child is a taboo action. As the worshiper of Shakmeh, the God of the Sun and Birth, the act of making someone unable to give birth is something people frowned upon.

The Rezghi pair thought that the gods were angry at them, and they went to the temple every day to pray and ask for forgiveness. Hearing that it was not their fault but a poison makes them angry.

"Before you shout something, there is good news. I can cure it easily."
