Chapter 127: Chapter 127: Western Continent

"Where is Jullian and Jonathan?"

I look at Silva as I take a sip of my morning coffee.

"They are in the guild base."

"Ah, they try to defeat him, huh?"

"Yup."

After knowing that there is a person that is even stronger than me, the two of them decide that it is their goal to beat that golem. Sadly for them, the longest they last is about fifteen seconds. After lecturing them about gradually increasing the difficulty and not immediately aiming for the big boss, they finally agree to fight the weaker enemy.

The last time I saw them, they defeated a level thirty-seven monster after a minute or so of intense fighting.

"Anyway, take to the sea, dear. Breakfast is about to be served."

She nods, sits beside me, and puts her head on my shoulder.

"What about Hilda? Is she still asleep?"

"Yup. You know here. She did not like waking up earlier than necessary. With us on the ship, she wants to spend her morning in bed because she cannot do that in her home."

"Sadly, she will be grumpy without her breakfast. She is a walking contradiction. She did not like to wake up early and wanted to sleep until almost lunch, but she would be grumpy if she did not have her breakfast and start grumbling about how she will wake up a little bit early."

Silva chuckles a little at my word.

"That she is. However, she starts to calm down after her breakfast and afternoon tea. Also, where is Sonia? I haven’t seen her since you took us to the guild base yesterday."

"Hmmm? She decides she wants to experiment in the guild base for a moment. You know how she likes books and magic. When she sees that library, she quickly makes a nest and starts reading them and testing all the magic."

"I really need to read one of those books. I just wonder what kind of person you were in your previous life to be granted this massive boon."

"A famous adventurer, maybe?"

A player can be considered an adventurer, right? We explore the world, sell the loot we get, and maybe save a place or two just like an adventurer.

"Hmm, I don’t think so. Maybe you were a famous hero in the past! A group of heroes who save a lot of people. That is the only thing I can think of for your previous life."

If we go by my character in Second Life... yes. I’m a hero because I completed a quest that should save the world, or at least that was written on the quest.

"Maybe. I don’t know. I like to think about the present and the future rather than the past. We need to learn from the past; that is true. However, we should not dwell in the past too long because we will experience stagnation, which is not good."

Silva nods and says.

"You are right. However, I will still search for your past life identity. I’m curious about it."

"I don’t mind. Go and search for it because I also want to know."

"Deal!"

"Jullian! Now!"

I shout, and Jullian immediately obeys my word. He jumps and activates his talent to cover his sword with lightning. He stabs the monster that jumps out of the water with his sword, and I can see the monster get fried from the inside out.

With the last monster dead, I nod and am about to heal the others. However, to my surprise, Silva, Sonia, and Hilda are already taking care of them.

I nod and release a sigh.

This is the fifth day of our journey and, for some reason, also the busiest. The reason? Monsters are attacking us from all sides. We are lucky that the ship has a barrier around it, so the monsters did not destroy our ship in a single attack. We have enough time to respond and kill them before they can damage our ship.

It is just my luck that we cannot have a week off without fighting. Lucky for us, the monster is not strong or large in number. However, they are strong enough to make a hole in the ship’s barrier and injure some of the crew.

Luckily for them and us, the injury is easy to heal, and I can easily create a barrier around the ship to block an even bigger attack.

That means we can now continue our journey without a problem. I look at Nathalie and say.

"How is the ship, captain?"

"The ship already patched, my lord. I’m sorry to make you fight our fight."

"Don’t mention it, captain. We are happy to help. However, I must ask just where those monsters are coming from."

Nathalie looks at me with a frown.

"That I don’t know. We are using the sensor all the time, but not once we notice anything."

This ship has a sensor that notices the captain or the crew if a group of monsters is coming. However, unlike a modern sensor that can notify an individual thing coming closer, this sensor only activates when a group of monsters gets close.

This sensor captures the chaotic mana from the monster. However, it is too weak to notice a single or two monsters. It can only capture ten or more monsters coming.

However, the monsters that come to our ship are more than fifty monsters.

"Maybe they are too deep into the ocean, so we did not notice them?"

"That is a possibility, my lord. However, just how deep can they swim? This sensor can detect up to a kilometer deep, you know? There is nothing the monster can eat in that depth."

Right. I like watching documentaries about animals in my past life, and among them, deep-sea animals are something I like. It is like seeing an alien place, you know? A place of darkness without light, and the animals in that place are so different from the ones on the ground or even the fish on the water.

They might come from the same place, the ocean, but the inhabitants are too different; it can be said that it was two completely different places.

Anyway, I learned from the documentary that the deep ocean is not full of life. There is life, yes. However, it was minuscule compared to the one a few kilometers above them.

And monsters need sustenance. They need to eat a living being to survive in this plane of existence. Deep sea monsters will not survive that– unless there are many animals that live in the deep ocean, unlike my previous life.

"Then that only leaves a couple of possibilities, no? The first one is that they have the ability to mask their presence and fool the sensor, or there is something wrong with the sensor. A little damaged, maybe?"

"I don’t think it is the first one. I think this is the second one. I will immediately check the sensor when we arrive at our destination."

I nod and say.

"I will leave it to you, then."

"Yes! I will do my best."

I nod and get back to my companion. I just hope the next few days of this journey will be peaceful.

|3rd POV|

"Thanks, lad. Here, take this. You are working hard."

"Thanks, old man!"

"OI! I’m not old! I just reached my thirties!"

The young man laughs and walks away from the angry middle-aged man. He walks through the Ulian City of the Verlagan Kingdom port street. This young man is smiling and waving at the people around him.

He has long brown hair and golden eyes. He is almost two meters tall and has a muscular yet lean body.

He walks through the street and brightens when he sees a beastman standing in front of a food vendor. The man is a tiger beastman with a muscular body and sharp claw that he hides.

"Yo, Jul-Tan!"

The beastman turns around and smiles at the sight of the brown-haired man coming at him.

"Quentyn! Are you done with your job?"

"Yup! However, I still need to return to help carry goods from some bigshot from the South."

"Ah, I heard about that. The boss asked me to help as well."

"Really? Then it will be an easy job then."

Beastman is known for their strength, and they are a great help in any hard work, like carrying goods out of the ship.

"Do you know who will come, Jul-Tan?"

"I don’t know who will come, but I hear they are coming from the Gipan and Luzia Kingdom."

For some reason, Quentyn frowned at the word Gipan Kingdom. Jul-Tan decided to ignore it for now and continue.

"Anyway, they are important people. So the boss expects us to be on our best behavior."

"Bah! The boss is too uptight."

"Too uptight? You try to flirt with a noble coming from the south two years ago. If not for generosity, you will be hanged, you know?"

"Yeah. Yeah. I already learned my lesson. Anyway, let’s eat first before we go back to work."

Jul-Tan and Quentyn wait with the other workers for the ship to dock. After a few more minutes of waiting, the ship is fully docked, and a group of people leave the ship. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Jul-Tan is about to join the others to carry the goods out of the ship but stops when he sees Quentyn look at the group with a gaping mouth.

"Oi! Quentyn! Come on"

Instead of answering his friend, Quentin mutters something.

"Gwyndolin... why is he here?"
