I Try To Enjoy My Life But This Woman Keep Calling Me Villain-Chapter 112: Engagement
"Come on, now! I thought that you wanted to spar with me. However, it is like I’m fighting a toddler instead of an adult."
I taunt the woman in front of me with a smile. The woman, Silva, instead of angry, smiles back and says.
"That’s it! I will beat you!"
"Come on then!"
I take my stance and receive all of her attacks before making my own counterattack at her. I raise my sword and receive her attack before twisting my sword to create an opening. With her trying to get back her balance, I attack her arm and throw away her sword. She quickly falls to the ground, and I put my sword next to her neck.
"And you are dead." 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
I can see her smile and release a sigh.
"Yeah, it is my defeat."
I put my sword and say.
"Don’t be down. We will continue to train and make you a formidable swordswoman."
"Do you think I can do that? Be a formidable swordswoman."
"Of course! Continue to train, and you will be a powerful fighter."
Silva’s smile gets a little bigger as she gets up from the ground.
"Then I will be in your care from now on."
"Of course, Silva."
I smile, and the two of us leave the training ground. While walking back to the palace, I look at her and say.
"Today will be the day your parents come, huh?"
Silva nods her head and says.
"Yes. Are you getting nervous?"
"... To be honest, yes."
I never once got a girlfriend or even a fiance, but here we are. I cannot help but feel nervous at the thought of talking to someone who will soon be my father-in-law if all goes smoothly.
"Fufufufu~ The all-powerful and mighty Gwyndolin Cunningham gets nervous about having some talk with a couple of older people."
"First thing first, I’m not all-powerful and mighty. The second thing is that you cannot blame me for getting nervous. This is the first time I have had a talk with someone about something this important."
"Hmmm... Our engagement talk is something important for you, huh?"
"Of course! Is it not?"
Silva only smiles at me and says.
"I’m glad that you think of this as an important thing to worry about."
"What? You thought I would not consider this a serious thing?"
"To be honest? Yes. I heard about things many men do to their soon-to-be fiance. I hear about them not thinking that an engagement was something sacred, but rather it was a burden more than anything."
I look at her for a second and say.
"If you think of it like that, I’m a little bit hurt."
"Oh, you big baby. I’m not thinking of you like that. I know you are different from the other men, but I’m just afraid, you know?"
"Hmmm. I think I understand."
I did not hear it often, but this territory still has many misogynistic people. Even when this is the era where women can get a position of power as long as they work hard, many people still think women cannot do anything, or they can do something, but usually worse than men.
Why can’t they just unite and think of each other as fellow humans? That will create a better place.
"You know what? Let me make something as an apology to you."
"Really? What do you want to make? Should I help?"
"No. This is an apology. If you help me, it was not an apology. As for the thing I want to make... It was a secret, but let me tell you that I will make you delicious food."
"Really? Then I will wait for it. Also, you know what? Your parents will arrive here in a few hours. You can also let them have a taste."
"That is a great idea! My parents did not allow me to use the kitchen for some reason, but with this, I can show them that I can cook delicious food!"
Silva then quickly runs to the kitchen while shouting.
"Don’t come to the kitchen, okay?! I want it as a surprise!"
I can only shake my head and wonder why she gets banned from the kitchen. Maybe she cut herself in the past? Hmmm. Oh well.
=//=
I smile a little when I see a couple leave the carriage with a small boy in the woman’s hand. Ah, he is Silva’s little brother, huh?
"Welcome to the Shadowfall City, Lord Baxter, Lady Baxter"
"Please, call me Adrian, Lord Cunningham."
"The same with me, Lord Cunningham. Please call me Yuliana."
"Then please call me Alexander. Once again, welcome to Shadowfall City. Please follow me. I will show you around."
My father takes the lead and starts to show the couple around. I can see the little toddler in Lady Yuliana’s hand looking around in wonder. I even play with him when he looks at me. I cast a low-level spell that releases a light show for his entertainment.
I can see the Baxter couple see what I am doing and smile a little. My smile gets bigger when I hear the little guy start to laugh at my little show. We stop in front of the kitchen when I see Silva coming out with a face full of what looks like flour.
"Silvanna? Is that you?"
The young woman looks at her mother and says,
"Ah! Mother! You’ve come!"
"What are you doing here? And why is there flour on your face?"
Silva wipes her face and smile.
"I’m cooking something! I want to cook something for Gwyn and you guys. Don’t worry! Everything is going great, and you will enjoy this."
I can see the Baxter couple get pale at that news before Lord Adrian says.
"Dear... You don’t need to do that, you know? Let the servant do the cooking. You will hurt yourself."
"Ah! You don’t need to worry about it, Father. I will not hurt myself. Anyway, I will meet you in half an hour from now on. The food is almost ready."
After saying that, Silva gets back inside the kitchen, leaving her parents looking at her with fear and worry written on their faces. My father decides to continue the tour, and I take that chance to ask a question.
"Excuse me. Why are you two worried about Silva in the kitchen?"
The Baxter couple look at each other for a few seconds before Lady Yuliana looks at me and says.
"I hope this will not see her in a bad image, but she cannot cook, Gwyndolin. The last time she tries to cook, she blows up the kitchen and creates something only a black magician can create using their curse spell."
"Really? I guess that is the reason why she always goes to the kitchen and watches the servant make food."
"She does that?"
"Yup. Every time the servant is about to make dinner, she will go to the kitchen and watch them cook."
"Is she training how to cook?"
"I don’t know, but it was okay the last time she made a sandwich. Some of them even have great taste."
"I see."
"She might not have been a great cook in the past, but she is learning, and I trust her that she will make a great dish for us to try."
Lady Yuliana looks at me for a few seconds before nodding her head with a smile. She then turns to her husband and says.
"I agree with this engagement. You already have my agreement, but I will agree once again for this engagement."
I can see Lord Adrian sigh, but there is a smile on his face.
"The talk has not even begun, dear."
"I don’t really care. I want this young man as my son-in-law. She did not care about the negative things that my daughter had and encouraged her to improve rather than make her stay the same. He was not ashamed of my daughter who cannot cook, something that all women should have. Instead, he encourages her to get better. I like him, and I want him as my son-in-law."
I can see Lord Adrian sigh and say.
"First thing, she is also my daughter. The second one is..."
Lord Adrian looks at my father and says.
"It looks like we did not need to have the talk about the engagement, Lord Alexander."
My father gives him a small smile and says,
"Then we only need to celebrate."
My father looks at the servant that comes with us and says,
"Prepare some wine and beer and take them to the garden. Also, tell young Silvanna to come to the garden where we will be celebrating the engagement."
The maid nods and bows a little.
"Of course, my lord."
After seeing the maid walk to the kitchen, my father look at the Baxter couple and says.
"Let us go to the garden where we will celebrate this happy association."
With that word, I have a fiance and future wife.
