I Transmigrated Into A Fantasy World To Farm And Build Houses!-Chapter 278: Can’t afford to feed him soon
Seeing that the most heavily injured Elf was no longer in critical condition and showed signs of recovery, Thomas didn’t want to stay long. He intended to let everyone disperse and wait for the leading Elf to wake up before asking questions.
The tribesmen glared at the Elves and left one by one. Originally, the beastmen and Dwarves didn’t have much goodwill towards Elves, and now their impression was even worse.
It was already dusk, and Eric had to hurry back to bake the cakes; otherwise, the dough that had risen would definitely go sour by tomorrow.
"Let’s go," Max said, bowing his head to Eric.
Having just experienced a great battle, Eric felt particularly refreshed after a sleep, and his body was no longer sore like when he was kneading the dough:
"Yes, Max, come back and bake cakes with me. Today I kneaded a thousand catties of wheat flour; my arms wanted to fall off. Fortunately, Balu came to help later. After baking, we’ll give them to you guys to eat on the road." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
Michael poked his handsome head over: "Little Eric prepared dry provisions for us too? This time we don’t have to gnaw on grilled meat and dried meat anymore. You really are the most thoughtful."
Grass gently patted his back: "Then why don’t you hurry and help?"
"So Grass is coming too. I’m anxious to see what kind of cakes Little Eric prepared," Michael grinned and said.
Balu and Kiet, the two from the Ox-Head tribe, seeing the Elves were out of danger, felt the heavy stone in their hearts lifted. Hearing Michael and the others talking about baking cakes, Kiet couldn’t help but lean over too.
"I can help too, let me go with you."
There was a lot of dough left at home, all finished rising. With more people, it would be faster, so Eric was naturally very happy.
The tribesmen had dispersed. Eric led the Snow Wolf people and the Ox-Head tribe back home to bake cakes, intending to let them taste the salted eggs as well.
Balu already knew how to bake cakes. Seeing his enthusiastic look, Eric assigned him the main task. Kiet stood by to learn; his skills weren’t as good as Balu’s, so he watched for a long time and didn’t dare to do it.
Michael enthusiastically brought a basin of dough to knead. Eric carefully added a little alkaline salt to suppress the sour taste.
The dough had been fermenting for a while and smelled sour. If he didn’t add some alkali, the baked cakes would not only taste sour but also be hard.
When Eric brought everyone home, Arthur was holding a baked cake and eating it deliciously, only he was staring blankly, seemingly lost in thought.
Previously, because of the Elf tribe’s sudden attack, Eric had only made a few basins of baked cakes, and now Arthur had eaten one-third of them.
Eric couldn’t help but click his tongue a few times. Calculated out, Arthur alone had eaten a whole basin of dough. One must know that even for the Ox-Head tribe, eating that much in human form was already very impressive. It seemed this guy’s appetite had increased again.
Oh heavens, at this rate, Eric felt that sooner or later, he wouldn’t be able to afford to feed him...
Apart from Eric and close acquaintances, Arthur didn’t like interacting with others much, but today he particularly wanted to stay a bit longer, so he squatted aside to watch.
Balu and the others were baking cakes with high spirits. Eric soaked the boiled salted duck eggs in hot water to warm them up, then distributed a few to each person, perfect for eating with the cakes.
Kevin peeled an egg. Just taking one bite, the golden oil from the yolk oozed out the corner of his mouth. He hurriedly brought the egg to his mouth to slurp it all up.
The salted duck egg was rich and salty. Eating it alone was delicious but a bit intense, so he took a few bites of the multi-layered baked cake, and immediately the saltiness was neutralized.
"Soaking for so long, fortunately, it wasn’t in vain. This taste is truly impeccable," he squinted his eyes happily.
Especially since he had washed these eggs himself; eating the fruits of his labor made the flavor feel even better.
"There are plenty in the cellar, all ready to eat. Tomorrow I’ll boil them all. When you hit the road, take them with you to eat gradually," Eric was happy seeing that they liked them.
Grass quietly stuffed the egg into the cake and sandwiched it to eat. Eric couldn’t help giving a thumbs up in praise; truly a gourmet.
Max looked at the basins of dough in the yard and rubbed Eric’s head: "It’s too hard on you. Don’t do it by yourself anymore; wait for me to come back and do it together next time."
Eric moved his arm:
"It really took a lot of effort. Just after kneading the dough, I couldn’t lift my arms. Fortunately, nature magic has healing abilities. After meditating for a while, it felt much better. Now it seems fine."
Kevin, with yolk oil still on his mouth, smacked his lips:
"Otherwise, the beastmen would have suffered back then. Elves can absorb natural elements to heal, while beastmen can only grit their teeth and endure. Luckily, we have bodies of bronze and iron compared to the Elves."
Eric nodded in agreement; every species has weaknesses.
Beastman fur and skin had magic resistance, and their combat power was strong, but Elves were born blessed by the God of Nature; all living plants could provide them with power.
Back then, the battlefield chosen by the Beastman Kingdom was initially a place with dense trees. The Elves operated in it like fish in water, coming and going without a trace, while the beastmen’s actions were greatly restricted.
Balu held a fresh, hot baked cake, contentedly peeling a salted duck egg and mimicking Grass by sandwiching the egg in the cake to eat.
The duck eggs here were large; sandwiched in the cake, it looked swollen like a large egg-stuffed bun.
Thinking about the troublemaking Elves, Eric felt a bit annoyed and couldn’t help tilting his head to ask Max:
"Max, do you think those Elves will pack up and leave after their wounds heal? What if they still don’t leave?"
Max stroked his head soothingly: "Since they know the magic fluctuations here were created by you, they probably won’t pester us anymore. The Elf tribe has always valued face very much and won’t cling on relentlessly."
In today’s battle, the warriors were almost all exhausted and injured; Max and the others were no exception.
Eric looked at their exposed wounds; even transformed into human form, the wounds looked deep.
He said somewhat gloomily:
"I only learned nature magic to grow vegetables and farm. How could I provoke this bunch of Elves? Sigh, if I had known earlier, I would have gone further away to practice."
"Elves have specialized tools to detect nature magic fluctuations. Even if you were further away, they would detect it, unless you didn’t practice within the territory," Michael laughed.
"It’s not your fault; it’s because those Elves are tyrannical and unreasonable," Kevin said boastfully.
