Gu Man let out a heavy sigh.

Qiao Xixi came to a realization. ’Sunxiao didn’t tell me the truth. He was probably afraid of scaring me.’
"Xixi, we’ve caught a lot of fish and some Long Claw Beasts. The wooden bucket is full."
Jin Ling’s words pulled Qiao Xixi back from her thoughts.
She stood up and looked into the wooden bucket. It was already filled with fish and shrimp.
"It’s still early. Let’s catch some more to take back. I can make smoked fish."
Gu Man glanced at the fish and frowned. "Are your beast-husbands that useless? Making you eat fish that have barely any meat on them."
Qiao Xixi immediately became defensive. "Nonsense! Jin Ling and the others are very capable. These fish might not have as much meat as other beasts, but they’re incredibly delicious. If you don’t believe me, come over to my place tonight. I’ll cook some for you to try."
Gu Man had smelled the fragrant aroma of cooking from Qiao Xixi’s home many times before. There was no way she would refuse.
"Since you invited me so sincerely, I suppose I can do you the honor of gracing you with my presence."
Qiao Xixi’s face scrunched up. ’She’s just as punchable as Feiyan!’
After Jin Ling took a wooden basket and caught two more basketfuls of fish and shrimp, Qiao Xixi called the cubs to head back.
The cubs had been splashing around together in the water, completely lost in their play.
Qiao Xixi took a beast hide and dried them off, then helped them get dressed.
"Mother, are we having fried fish again tonight?"
"If you like it, Mother will make it for you."

The fried fish was crispy, and the cubs really loved it.
