I, the Villain, Want to Save Myself, But the Yandere Heroines Disagree-Chapter 96 - Litte’s Plan (3/4)
At this moment, elsewhere, the Doctor had arrived at the Iron Wolf Mercenary Group’s headquarters.
The headquarters was a large courtyard formed by several connected residential buildings that had been repurposed. During the day, the mercenaries trained and relaxed there, and at night, they would head to taverns to drink.
Due to the imperial capital’s security regulations, mercenary groups—prone to causing public disturbances—were typically stationed in remote areas far from the city center. Although patrol soldiers occasionally passed through, these were mostly routine inspections.
Here, occasional private fights were commonplace. As long as no one was killed and no complaints were filed, they generally weren’t considered a problem.
Earlier today, Mudrick had been drinking heavily with his subordinates and was on his way back to the mercenary headquarters when he encountered Litte, leading to everything that followed.
Although the Iron Wolf Mercenary Group required members to be at least Tier 3, its true elite consisted only of Mudrick, the leader, and the now-deceased vice leader, who had fallen to the Doctor.
The remaining mercenaries were all merely Tier 3 or Tier 4.
Not even a single Tier 5 remained.
Last time, the masked man had taken a group of mercenaries from here, and today, Mudrick had taken another group out drinking.
On top of that, several mercenaries were away on simple missions.
As a result, fewer than ten mercenaries remained stationed at the Iron Wolf Mercenary Group’s headquarters, with only a single guard watching the entrance.
“Hello, is this the headquarters of the Iron Wolf Mercenary Group?” The Doctor approached the entrance, smiling as he addressed the mercenary standing guard.
Seeing the Doctor’s refined attire and distinguished demeanor, the mercenary immediately assumed he was a noble. Believing himself to have a keen eye, he let his guard down and nodded.
“Do you have a job for us?” he asked politely, bowing slightly toward the Doctor.
Generally speaking, when dealing with wealthy individuals who valued their pride, as long as he showed them enough respect, they usually wouldn’t hesitate to reward him with a coin or two.
Just as the mercenary lifted his head, expecting to receive a generous tip, the Doctor suddenly pulled a scalpel from his coat, pressed the gate guard against the wall, and held the blade against his throat.
Feeling the cold, sharp blade and a slight sting at his throat, the mercenary froze.
Not all members of the Iron Wolf Mercenary Group were fearless. In fact, many only displayed courage during missions.
This particular mercenary had only joined the group a month ago—he was a newcomer. That was precisely why, while the others rested indoors, he had been assigned to guard the entrance.
He had thought this would be an easy job, but who could have expected it to turn into a life-or-death situation?
“I’m going to ask you a few questions. You’d better answer honestly, or else... I know how to make you die without making a sound.”
“Heard me?” The Doctor’s voice was icy cold, sending a chill down the mercenary’s spine.
The mercenary gave the slightest nod.
He had no choice—he didn’t dare to move too much, fearing that the sharp scalpel would slice open his throat.
Noticing that his scalpel was pressed a bit too tightly, the Doctor loosened his grip slightly, pulling it back just a little before asking:
“Where does your mercenary group keep records of the missions it takes?”
“I... I don’t know.” The mercenary shook his head.
“You know I’m not satisfied with that answer.”
The Doctor stared at the mercenary intensely.
At this moment, the mercenary was already on the verge of tears, his voice trembling uncontrollably.
“I... I really don’t know! I’ve only been with this mercenary group for less than a month. I originally graduated from Carlisle Academy in the Aragon Duchy. I came to Saint Roland City to make a living and joined this group because I heard the pay was good—there’s a fixed salary every month, plus extra bonuses for missions, so I joined.”
“I don’t care about your identity! I just want to know what I need to know!” the Doctor said, his tone growing heavier.
“Do you know where the leader’s room is?”
“The leader’s room... the third floor! It’s on the third floor!”
The Doctor quickly covered the mercenary’s mouth.
“Keep your voice down,” he warned before continuing his questioning. “What type of missions does your group usually take?”
“Uh...” The mercenary shook his head. “I don’t know, but I do know that our mercenary group offers great benefits. Someone as skilled as you would definitely thrive here. Trust me, the moment you join, you’d start as the third-in-command—maybe even push out that bearded vice leader!”
Seeing that the mercenary was actually trying to recruit him, the Doctor shook his head.
“I told you, don’t say anything outside of what I’m asking.”

“Uh... sorry...”
“Alright, here’s my last question.” The Doctor looked at the mercenary.
“Have you killed before? How many people? Do you think they deserved to die?”
“I… I’ve never killed anyone.” The mercenary looked at the Doctor, his eyes exceptionally clear.
“Really, I know it sounds ridiculous for a mercenary to say this, but it’s the truth…”
“Alright, I got it.” The Doctor waved his hand dismissively, then struck the gate guard mercenary on the neck with a swift chop, knocking him unconscious before dragging his body into a nearby alley.
He followed the directions given by the gate guard mercenary and made his way up to the third floor.
There were only two rooms on this floor. One of them was locked and appeared to have been unoccupied for some time, while the other had its door slightly ajar.
The Doctor pushed the door open and stepped inside. It was a finely decorated office. Further in, there was another door, which he assumed led to the bedroom.
Seeing this, the Doctor began searching through the room.
Finally, at the bottom of the desk cabinet, he discovered a ledger along with a stack of documents.
