Chapter 484 - 484 Invincible: The Melancholy of Eve, The Feelings That Can't Be Contained, Martians and Sequids and A Punch at Invincible.

Eve sighed as she stared out the window of her class. Her heart had been troubled for quite some time. This monotonous, ordinary life contrasted with the life of a superhero, full of danger. However, both were essential, especially at this moment in her life, when she didn't know if being a superhero was something she wanted to do for the rest of her life.

'I wonder what Allen is doing...' Eve smiled. Every time she thought about whether being a superhero was what she wanted to do for the rest of her life, Allen's face would return to her mind. He was a truly powerful man, and it was her power, similar to one of the ones Allen has, that made him notice her in the first place.

Eve shook her head. She wasn't foolish. She knew she couldn't base her entire life on superficial feelings like that. She bit her lip and remembered Allen's words. He had warned her to stay away from him. It wasn't that he disliked her, quite the opposite—he wanted to avoid anything developing between them.

"I'm almost eighteen..." Eve blushed at her thoughts, pressing her hands to her head. "Am I really that easy?"

She should've been upset about her breakup with Rex, but for a long time, she hadn't thought of him even once. Even when she saw him at the headquarters, she didn't feel uncomfortable. Eve rested her head on the desk, not wanting to be an easy girl, but what could she think if just knowing Allen for such a short time made her unable to get him out of her mind? This had never happened with any guy, not even with Rex. It was terrifying to think about Allen's words.

"An aphrodisiac, drug, and poison..."

Eve felt somewhat lost. She knew she should focus on her future, but her priority was elsewhere.

'Dangerous, huh...'

Eve closed her eyes and could see him standing not too far away but currently out of reach. To approach him, she'd have to make a very important decision.

'His elegant and well-maintained figure contrasted with his lazy gaze, sometimes mocking, sometimes mischievous, his eyes, like a spell, impossible to look away from, his voice, his scent, his presence... nothing can be forgotten once he appears in front of you... it's almost arrogant how he rises above others just by existing, it's overwhelming how he seems to capture everyone's attention at every moment... but you don't mind. Even when he's bad or joking, you don't mind. Unless you have some grudge against him... I want to see him,' Eve smiled. Despite thinking of all of Allen's flaws, her answer hadn't changed. She wanted to see him, be near him, talk to him more, feel his presence close by.

"Hm~" At that moment Eve realized that it might not be as shallow a feeling as she thought.

"Miss Wilkins, if my class bores you, maybe you shouldn't take it..."

Eve opened her eyes, surprised, only to see her teacher standing beside her desk, angry.

"Sorry!" Eve raised her voice, her face hot.

Her apology wasn't enough, and she ended up standing in the hallway. She lowered her head, wondering what she had been thinking. She should focus on her life now. With that in mind, Eve only lasted five minutes before calling Allen. It was inevitable, considering her age.

"Hi, I'd like... to... to request my daily training hour..."

"Hi, oh... Well, I thought I'd go close some shady business over there and annoy a couple of supervillains; you can come along if you want, Eve..."

"Yes!~"

Eve's heart skipped a beat as she felt relieved not to be rejected. Eve did not realize that she had fallen into the wolf's clutches.

Three days passed, and Allen gave Eve some advice, things she would eventually master on her own.

...

On the fourth day, Allen asked Eve out, half-jokingly, but she accepted with the same playful attitude, though she was blushing. Maybe it wasn't as casual as Allen thought. So, Allen didn't disappoint, taking her to the cinema, then out to eat, and they ended up at a karaoke place like on a normal date. It wasn't as memorable as with Amanda, but it wasn't an official date. There would be time later to take Eve somewhere more memorable.

After Eve finished singing and sat down, Allen silently observed her with a smile, which made her nervous.

"Is something wrong?" Eve pressed her palms to her legs, cursing. "What's wrong with me?! I'm not a shy girl! Don't act like this! Come on, look him in the eyes! Screw it, knock him down, and kiss him, but stop acting like a shy girl! You're killing me!"

Eve's blush spread to her ears.

"I guess molecular manipulation is easier now..." Allen's words pulled Eve out of her embarrassment.

In the previous days, Eve ended up exhausted after training with Allen. However, that day, the fatigue wasn't visible.

'In the end, these are things she would learn on her own...'

As in the original story, Eve will eventually come of age, and the handling of her power will increase; Allen only accelerates that process.

Allen smiled softly. "You've become strong..."

"...!" Eve was hypnotized by his smile. This soft smile was one he hadn't shown until now, and she was stunned. She got up and walked toward Allen, 'I can't resist anymore... I don't care about the consequences.'

She climbed onto his lap, not caring how bold it was, and stared into his eyes.

"Are you sure?" Allen smiled, knowing Eve's intentions. Allen was the enemy of the women. A relationship with him was unfair, strange, and poorly viewed; one not many could accept.

Of course, Allen was aware of this, yet he never stopped seducing women wherever he went, like a bastard. He knew the kind of girls that were in Invincible, and they weren't the type who would want a relationship with him. So, the least he could do was give them a small warning about what they were getting into.

Eve's gaze softened as her hands touched Allen's cheeks. "I don't know what to think... maybe I'll regret it... maybe it's foolish... maybe I'll suffer for this decision... but if I let you go, I'll regret it for the rest of my life."

Upon hearing that, Allen no longer rejected her. Instead, his gaze became more intense, serious, and dominant. "You're really cute..."

"Mm~"

Eve felt a pleasant shiver when she saw that his hands were now on her waist, holding her firmly. Without letting her finish speaking, he leaned in and kissed her. She felt an electric shock before her body melted and fell into his arms.

After a kiss that lasted long enough to make Eve faint, Allen carried her like a princess and took her to his house. Eve's parents were shocked to meet Allen, who introduced himself as Eve's boyfriend.

Allen knew Eve had problems with her parents, like any teenager, so he went straight to "charm" them and avoid complications for Eve.

With her mother, it was easy; she fell for Allen quickly. With her father, Allen had to bring out some expensive bottles of wine and have a deep conversation. They weren't bad people, but as usual, parents and children didn't always agree.

...

When Eve woke up, she went to the kitchen only to see an absurd sight—her parents laughing with Allen.

"Sweetheart, come eat with us~," her mother said with a smile.

"Huh? Allen!"

Eve quickly walked to Allen, who stood up and pulled out a chair for her to sit.

"Hi, I'm glad you woke up."

"Thanks..." Eve sat down. "No, wait, what's going on here?!"

Eve's father smiled. "Come on, dear, show some manners to your boyfriend."

"Ah! But how!" Eve was stunned, looking at Allen, who shrugged. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier that I broke up with Rex."

Eve's mother laughed. "Rex was a good guy, but maybe not enough. I'm glad you found someone better."

Eve looked at her mother incredulously. She didn't know what Allen had done to her parents, but they were absolutely captivated by him. To the point that they seemed hypnotized.

"I... Mom, Dad... there's something I need to tell you about Allen..."

Eve looked at Allen with a bitter smile. She didn't want to lie to her parents.

"He has a girlfriend... no, other girlfriends."

Eve braced herself for the shouting, but it never came. When she looked up, she saw her father smiling awkwardly and her mother amused.

"Honey, we're not the ones to decide who you date. If you're willing to accept this kind of relationship, we'll support you," her father said firmly, leaving Eve stunned.

"Huh?"

Her mother laughed. "Besides, Allen is an incredibly charming young man, it's definitely impossible for him to only have one girl~"

Eve wanted to slam her hands on the table and shout, 'Who are you people, and where are my parents?!' but in the end, she didn't. She just watched Allen smiling mischievously at her.

"Isn't it great that your parents accept our relationship?"

Teased, Eve blushed intensely and also realized that at some point, she had become Allen's girlfriend. Although, considering how close they had been to crossing the line in karaoke, it felt natural.

Eve decided to stop thinking about what kind of black magic Allen had used to seduce her parents and focused on eating. Laughter and harmony filled the Wilkins' house while Eve felt that, in the end, it wasn't so bad, because even her relationship with her parents, which had been rocky lately, suddenly repaired and strengthened.

...

The next day, Allen woke up and looked at the sky. By this point, Mark should already be arriving on Mars. Although Allen hadn't wanted to participate in this event and preferred to stay behind, there was a problem on Mars that might need his attention.

Of course, life isn't that simple. While Allen was having breakfast, Robot called him with a strange yet interesting proposal.

Allen smiled. "Tell Cecil to prepare his card because this won't be cheap... but I have something to do first."

...

Invincible and the astronauts arrived on Mars, the Red Planet. It's worth mentioning that the oxygen tank Cecil gave Invincible was incredible; it lasted for a long time without running out. Of course, as a Viltrumite, Mark was capable of holding his breath for long periods, so he only used it occasionally.

The mission was clear; this was a victory for humanity, so Invincible couldn't let anyone see him unless it was a life-or-death situation. Mark lay on a rock at a distance while the astronauts collected samples and data from Mars.

In reality, if this were a mission in a more normal world, it would be a huge step for humanity and would deserve to be celebrated by the world. But in this world, it didn't make sense to send people to recover rocks from Mars when they literally had a Martian superhero just recently. It would have been much easier to ask him to provide the data and parameters about Mars. Of course, Cecil was aware of this. His original goal was to get Nolan off the planet for two weeks under the guise of this mission. However, from the start, it was a plan with few chances of success. So, he switched to plan B: using this mission as a spectacle for the masses to show that life went on and that, eventually, more heroes would come to fill the void left by the Guardians of the Globe.

Allen, aware of Cecil's games, wasn't about to waste two weeks of his time and decided not to go. Although he had doubts about whether to leave the "problem" Mark had caused on Mars or resolve it.

What problem?

Mark Grayson is a developing superhero; an emotional and reckless teenager, still unable to grasp the weight of his actions... which is why this mission was destined to fail.

As it happened in the original story, Mark fell asleep thinking a planet with confirmed intelligent life would be peaceful. When Mark woke up, the astronauts had disappeared; they had been captured by Martians. Mark followed their tracks and, after a while, found an entrance to one of the Martian underground cities.

Although the astronauts were fine, the Martians didn't want to let them go.

Mark questioned them, and the answer was due to the "Sequids," parasitic creatures that infect the universe. They can control the minds of nearly any other species. Mark was attacked by one of them, but as expected, Viltrumites have a high resistance to mind control.

The Sequids are different from land squids, they look like three-tentacled mollusks that latch onto the body of their host to control it.

The Sequids are terrifying. Although they are very weak on their own, once they find a host, just one is enough to turn them into a global threat for any species, thanks to their hive mind.

The Martians, like Martian Man, have the ability to transform their bodies, which is how they've kept the Sequids at bay. But humans are not capable of resisting them, so, to prevent their race from going extinct, they decided not to let the astronauts go.

This made sense, and at first, they weren't hostile toward Mark. However, like a complete fool, instead of communicating with Cecil and asking for advice, he directly attacked and escaped with the astronauts.

...

"Everyone run!" Mark yelled as he saw the Martians chasing them.

The astronauts seemed to have forgotten that their special suits weighed a ton, and they ran like marathoners toward the ship while Mark turned to attack the Martians. Though he was defeated (He should have put himself into training more), he bought enough time to lift the shuttle. But... he didn't realize that one of the astronauts was a Martian, and the real Rus Livingston had been infected by the Sequids.

"That was close..." Mark smiled as he left that hostile planet behind.

"I don't think so..."

"...!"

A punch hit Mark so hard it sent him back to Mars, crashing onto the surface and leaving him partially unconscious.

"Ah! What?!"

Dazed and with his jaw broken, Mark looked up to see Allen standing above him, coldly watching him.

"What are you doing?!"

Furious, Mark stood up and flew toward Allen to attack him, but instead, he took another hit that knocked the air out of him, leaving him unable to defend himself. Invincible knew Allen was strong, but he hadn't expected to be knocked out with just two blows.

Allen didn't respond to Mark's terrified face, who thought Allen was trying to kill him. Instead, he grabbed his head and forced him to look in one direction.

Powerless, Mark turned his gaze in that direction and saw an apocalyptic scene: one of the astronauts who should have been on the shuttle was leading a wave of Sequids against the Martians. The Martians resisted, but now it was too late; the Sequids had a human with access to intelligence and attacked in groups. The Martians transformed their bodies desperately to avoid being controlled, but they failed, and one by one, they fell into the hands of the Sequids.

Allen scoffed, "You little brat condemned an entire race just because you fell asleep..."

"I didn't..."

Mark didn't know how to respond. He had never thought about the consequences of his actions, or maybe he just didn't care. In the end, for someone like him, being a superhero was limited to the wellbeing of his own kind—whether they were humans or Viltrumites. But for a race that seemed so alien to him, the last thing he thought about was what would happen to them.

"Kid, I'm a bastard who charges people based on my mood, but I have never condemned an entire non-hostile race to annihilation because I was afraid I would be scolded when I came back..."

"..."

Allen ignored the stunned Mark and focused his attention on Rus Livingston. In the future, he would lead an invasion of Earth and be defeated. But what does it matter to deal with a problem before it happens?

Rus smiled as the hive expanded with new hosts. Soon, the entire world would be theirs, and they could plan their expansion to other planets, Earth included, of course.

"I..."

"...!?" All the now-infected Martians stared, stunned at something that shouldn't have been possible. "Human?"

Rus, with the knowledge of a human among them, assumed who Allen was based on his appearance, but he wasn't wearing a spacesuit. Perhaps another superhero, apart from Invincible, had been sent. If so, why did he only appear now? Rus had let Invincible go earlier to avoid him interfering.

"I see you're stunned. In that case, let me introduce myself. I'm Allen Walker, my current title is The Regulator... my job is to control the actions of both villains and heroes, although, honestly, I just do whatever I want..."

DANGEROUS! HE'S VERY DANGEROUS!!

Rus felt a chilling shiver running through his entire body, which was shared by the hive mind. When he looked into Allen's eyes, all he could see was death in his future. He immediately ordered all the Martians to attack Allen.

Allen smiled coldly as a massive amount of energy poured out of his body, causing the entire planet to tremble.

"WHAT?! WHAT IS HAPPENING?!" Rus screamed in fear.

"What's up, Sequid? You looked so excited a moment ago," Allen mocked, causing Rus to boil with anger.

"YOU DON'T KNOW WHO YOU'RE MESSING WITH!" The entire army of infected Martians charged at Allen.

Allen squinted his eyes. "Who doesn't know who they're messing with?"

Mark, in the distance, felt a terrible chill as he watched Allen's figure. It was a feeling of insecurity like he had never experienced before.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU?!" Rus screamed, feeling the same way as Invincible.

The faces of both Rus and Mark turned pale as they watched a red aura emerge from Allen.

Allen smiled lazily. "As far as I know, I never stopped being human... though maybe I'm a little stronger than other humans..."
