Chapter 138: Chapter 138: Strength Is the Hard Truth

"Punk, you got lucky today. Don’t let me see you again..." Zhou Tianci threatened Lin Li as he deactivated his Superpower, his skin returning to its normal color.

Of course, to the onlookers who had watched them fight, his tough talk was nothing more than a pathetic attempt to save face.

"Don’t let me see you again"? As if the other guy was scared of him. Anyone with eyes could see that if the fight had continued, the refined-looking young man would have most likely won.

The sound of hurried footsteps came from the edge of the crowd. The onlookers turned to see a squad of armor-clad Guards, long spears in hand, running toward them.

"Make way! Get out of the way! You lot, circle around from that side! Don’t let those two trouble-making Cultivators escape."

The leading Guard Captain yelled at the gawking crowd to clear a path while simultaneously issuing orders to his subordinates.

"Yes, Captain." The Guards nodded and quickly followed his orders, fanning out to encircle the area.

"You useless idiots, get on your horses, now!" Zhou Tianci yelled at his servants.

"Hiyah!"

Once mounted, Zhou Tianci immediately led his servants away, galloping in the direction free of Guards. They quickly vanished around a distant street corner.

"Young man, you should run too! Any later and you won’t be able to get away. You’ll definitely have to pay a hefty fine."

An elderly man shouted to Lin Li. Normally, he wouldn’t have bothered warning a Cultivator who was fighting in the city.

But he had seen the entire fight and knew this refined-looking young man had been provoked by that Villainous Young Master. That’s why he spoke up, urging him to flee.

’It’s not like I started it. Why should I have to run?’ Lin Li grumbled to himself.

But then he had a second thought. ’This isn’t Blue Star. I’m a stranger from another world. It’s best to have as little contact with this world’s officials as possible. If I accidentally slip up, the trouble will be even worse.’

"Get out of my way!" The Guard Captain roughly shoved aside an onlooker blocking his path.

"Oof!" The man fell flat on his rear. Despite being pushed so rudely, he didn’t dare complain to the Guards. He just scrambled to his feet and stood silently to the side.

Seeing that plenty of people were still in his way, the Guard Captain bellowed at the crowd before him.

"Clear a path for me, now! If you don’t move, I’ll fine every last one of you for obstructing official business!"

Hearing the threat of a fine, the onlookers who had been packing the street were terrified. They immediately scrambled to either side, clearing a wide path for the Guard Captain.

"Get that guy! Don’t let him escape!" The Guard Captain yelled to his subordinates as he emerged from the crowd, spotting a fleeing figure in the distance.

"Yes, sir!" The Guards immediately gave chase.

’Dammit, why are they all chasing me and not the guy who galloped off on a horse?’ Lin Li thought, glancing back at the pursuing Guards before ducking into a narrow alley.

Seeing Lin Li run into the alley, the pursuing Guards immediately split up. One group took a detour to head for the other end of the alley.

The plan was to block both ends and trap him inside.

It was a good strategy. Unfortunately, when the two groups of Guards met up in the alley, there was no trace of Lin Li.

"Where is he?" the Guard Captain asked his subordinates, arriving a moment later.

"..." The Guards were silent, exchanging confused glances. They were also wondering how their target had simply vanished.

They had been right behind him. How could he disappear just by turning a corner? It was too strange.

...

On the small island, shrouded in a boundless white mist.

’What awful luck, running into a psycho like that... It’s all because I’m not strong enough! If I had the power of a Second Order Middle Stage Cultivator, or even stronger, I wouldn’t have had to make such a pathetic escape.’

Back on the Mysterious Small Island, Lin Li thought for a moment. He decided he wouldn’t return to Dongwu City in the Spirit Realm until he was stronger—at least strong enough to thrash that idiot who’d picked a fight with him today.

With a single thought, Lin Li returned from the Mysterious Small Island to Blue Star.

The sun was about to set, so the room was dim.

Lin Li appeared in the living room and turned on the lights and the air conditioner.

He had spent the entire day in the Otherworld known as the Spirit Realm, trekking for almost the whole time, and was covered in dust.

Combined with the recent fight against someone of comparable strength, he was now both filthy and exhausted.

’I’ll order some takeout first.’ Lin Li pulled his phone from his pocket and ordered a bowl of beef ramen. Then he went to his bedroom to grab a change of clothes before heading to the bathroom for a shower.

...

「The next day.」

The early morning sun rose, its golden rays squeezing through the gap in the curtains and into the dim bedroom.

Tiny motes of dust in the air were starkly revealed in the golden sunlight.

The now-exposed dust, with nowhere to hide, trembled in the faint air currents, drifting aimlessly.

Lying in bed, Lin Li slowly opened his eyes and turned his head toward the gap in the curtains.

"Yaaawn..." He raised a hand to cover a yawn, threw back the covers, and got out of bed.

SWOOSH... Reaching the window, Lin Li pulled open the curtains. The golden morning sun flooded in, instantly filling the entire bedroom.

His eyes, unaccustomed to the dazzling light, stung. Lin Li instinctively raised a hand to shield them. The golden sunbeams streamed through the gaps between his fingers, falling across his face.

His gaze drifted out the window. He watched the elderly men and women doing their morning exercises in the complex, along with the many students on their way to school. Lin Li muttered to himself.

’What great weather today! After breakfast, I’ll go buy a motorcycle, then head straight to the wilderness outside the city to hunt Mutant Beasts.’

...

Hyper-Cool Moto.

"Hyper-Cool?" After breakfast, Lin Li left his apartment and found himself in front of a motorcycle shop.

Looking at the shop’s sign, he thought, ’The owner of this place has such tacky taste in names.’

Quite a few first-time customers shared Lin Li’s opinion.

However, despite the shop’s tacky name, it had a decent selection of motorcycles. And even though it was still early, quite a few customers were already inside, browsing the bikes.
