I slayed an Ice dragon and now I'm King of the dragon slayers-Chapter 49: Fighting the Soul eaters
The feathers of the dragons looked like ashes, dark, sprawling long things that flickered open. Doublets of the feathers fell on Rhettβs face who squinted his eyes and rubbed his face, trying to get them off. ππ£πππ ππππ¨π―ππ.ππ¨π
"Weβre doomed!", Ash cried. "Weβre f**kinβ doomed, how do we face these hullabaloo. How do we get past this chaotic scene".
Rhett gripped on his sword, very tightly, turning around to look at the scene, trying to survive. He watched the soul eaters, the grim expression on their faces, their eyes calculating and bloody.
Rhett tried to keep calm. He swung his sword slowly. Fighting these monsters wasnβt a problem. The problem was, could he slay them, could he slay the damn soul eaters and shadow dragons?.
βOf courseβ, Rhett thought. βIβm not a shadow slayerβ.
But the shadow dragons?, you can slay them?.
Rhett bit the lower part of his lip.
βI might?β, he thought.
He felt a fierce wind blowing against him. It came with great precision at him and it was then he realized that the shadow dragons had been descending on him. Were they slow, because why hadnβt they descended earlier.
FLOOOM!
They fell on Rhett.
WHOOOSH!
He was down, his face covered on a shadow dragonβs wing. He jerked his sword at the dragons, hitting them and as he did so, they turned to ashes. Dark ashes by the way, ones that swirled and twirled to the ground.
Rhett stared in disbelief, his eyes wide open as he googled what was in front of him.
Just then, he heard a spark of light and then:
NAME: KING RHETT
RANK: DRAGON SLAYER
Slayer hub: Level 2/10
[XP - 500]
{300 more XP added}
[XP needed to Next level: 800]
Abilities: [PORTAL ASCENDER, GAZE KILLER]
Artifacts - [PORTAL COIN]
"F**k off stats", Rhett said. "What the hell Iβm I using them for".
He waved his sword at the stats and they went away, his face stern. The soul eaters paused and watched and Rhett slayed the other shadow dragons. They exchanged grim glances with each other and nodded forward, like they had concluded on something.
Surely the thing they had concluded on was this was the only strong opponent they were going to face so in their minds it was:
Noted.
Rhett breathed hardly and stared at the soul eaters, his face now more fierce than before. It was fierce but the only difference was that it now carried a touch of bravery.
The soul eaters, about eleven in number now, all stretched their hands backwards and clenched, ready to rumble.
Rhett, his face on the soul eaters, now said to the dragon hunters:
"The strongest among you guys should stay beside me while the average fighters should stay in the middle while the weakest should stay at the back. You hear me!".
"Yes mβlord!", they all chorused.
"Then letβs fight, letβs rumble!"Rhett shouted and ran forward, his sword pointed in that direction.
Not surprisingly, Daxer was bedside him. Ash was actually at the weakest place, at the back. Rhett didnβt expect that from him and was seriously amused from the sight. He was even more surprised that Haicor was in the middle, her sword pointed forward, all ready to battle.
And so the bloody rumble began. Would it be bloody?Well, we can only watch and see.
Rhett was quickly on his knees, rolling forward, slashing his sword at the soul eater legs. It seemed to do nothing. Nothing happened, the monster didnβt fall or give out any sound of pain seeking for help. It instead smiled and with a brutal shove, sent Rhett over to one side.
They didnβt pounce on him, of course they knew what they were doing. They only looked at him with contempt, taking on the much easier dragon slayers.
Daxer waved his sword at one but it did nothing and as the soul eater tried to overpower him, he didnβt succumb. Rhett soon stared with astonishment as Daxer climbed on the monsterβs back, punching it and using his sword to hit it very hard.
Now, the monster made a sound, it cried a bit (a loud expression) and Rhettβs face twisted in shock. The soul eater then held Daxer on the neck and as he was about to eat his face, a dragon slayer threw a sword at the creatureβs face. The sword pierced into it and Daxer somersaulted upwards, out of its grip and on his face, thrusting the sword on the monsterβs neck.
The soul eater fell.
Daxer, participating in the fall but in a more cozy place, quickly got off it and ran over to Rhett.
"You okay?", he asked, concerned.
"I guess", Rhett replied, now dusting his cloth, realizing it was dirty now.
A soul eater had killed a dragon slayer and another had killed another dragon slayer. Rhett felt infuriated by this.
"Theyβll kill them all!", he exclaimed.
"Weβre the strongest fighters here mβlord", Daxer said. "Only us can actually fight the monsters. At least only us stand a chance".
Rhett smiled. Daxer was surprised to notice that but when he saw the reason, he smiled too. It was Ash, holding very firmly Haicorβs hands who was refusing and Ash dragging her away from the battle scene to a more secluded place beside the tower.
"How do you think we defeat these things?", Daxer asked. "The dragons were easy because youβre a dragon slayer, but what about the soul eaters, the damn cruel shadow beasts. They of course wonβt be easy to face".
Rhett opened his mouth and then closed them back.
"Well, come up with ideas man!, let me work on them", he said.
Daxer stammered, he was thinking of something that would actually work before he said.
"Unless we can harness something that will make us be able to defeat them, weβre doomed!. And of course, that might not be possible because hell, this isnβt a damn video game!".
Rhett squinted his eyes and then stroked his beardless chin. It actually made sense. Looking at the dead cloudy body of the soul eater Daxer had killed, he came up with an idea.
What was it?.
It was -
