Chapter 474: Maladon [Part-5]

I didn’t even get the chance to say anything before things suddenly went to shit.

One moment the room was filled with nobles arguing and whispering among themselves, and the next moment a figure shot straight toward me like a cannonball.

Holy shit, that was fast.

Heloc.

The guy practically vanished from where he was standing. All I saw was a blur rushing toward my chest with his hand stretched out like he was about to grab something.

Wait...

Was he trying to pull out my heart?

For a split second, I honestly wondered if this guy had lost his mind.

Then instinct kicked in.

Right before his hand reached my chest, I casually raised my arm and grabbed his collar mid-air.

Just like that.

The momentum he built up didn’t disappear though. His body jerked forward while my arm stayed still, and the result looked ridiculous.

His legs were still moving forward while his neck snapped backward from the sudden stop.

"Whoa there," I muttered.

I lifted him up like he weighed nothing, his feet dangling a good distance above the ground.

The room instantly fell silent.

Heloc blinked a few times like his brain was still trying to process what just happened. His hand was still stretched toward my chest, his fingers curled like claws.

Yeah... this guy really was trying to rip my heart out.

Sigh...

"You are a bit aggressive, don’t you think?" I said casually.

Heloc’s eyes widened.

"What—what the hell—?!" he sputtered.

Only then did the rest of the room explode into noise.

"Who are you?!"

"How dare you assault Lord Heloc!"

"Guards! Guards!"

A bunch of nobles started shouting all at once like chickens in a panic.

Footsteps thundered through the hallway and the doors burst open.

Armed guards flooded into the room, surrounding us almost immediately.

These weren’t normal guards either.

Most of them carried weapons made from beasts. I could tell instantly from the aura coming off them. Some axes, a few spears, even a couple strange-looking crossbows.

And then I noticed one sword among them.

A Demon-tier sword.

Ah.

So they were actually serious about security here.

I slowly raised my head and looked around at all of them while still holding Heloc in the air like a piece of luggage.

Honestly, the scene looked kind of stupid.

Heloc struggling in my hand.

Dozens of guards pointing weapons at me.

And Aurelia standing quietly behind me the entire time.

She hadn’t said a single word.

Then one of the dwarves suddenly squinted at my face.

He stepped forward slowly, his expression shifting from confusion to shock.

"W-Wait..."

The dwarf rubbed his eyes like he couldn’t believe what he was seeing.

Then his jaw dropped.

"That... that’s him."

Everyone looked at him.

"Him who?" one noble asked impatiently.

The dwarf swallowed.

"That’s the Crown Prince of Vampiro."

...

The room went dead silent.

Like someone had pressed a mute button on the world.

Even the guards stopped moving.

Heloc froze in my hand.

Then suddenly—

Clank.

One of the dwarves dropped to a knee.

Another followed.

Then another.

Within seconds several of the dwarves in the room were bowing toward me.

"Your Highness..."

"Forgive our rudeness..."

"We did not recognize you..."

I blinked.

Huh.

Guess my reputation traveled farther than I thought.

Behind me, Aurelia made a small sound.

I glanced back briefly and saw her staring at me like she’d just discovered the sky was green.

Yeah... she probably didn’t expect this either.

Meanwhile, the atmosphere in the room had completely flipped.

Some of the noble dwarves suddenly straightened their clothes and approached me with awkward smiles.

"Your Highness, welcome to our humble city."

"It’s an honor to have someone of your stature visit."

"I represent the Ironroot Mining Consortium. If Your Highness ever needs high-grade ores—"

Another noble quickly cut him off.

"Your Highness, my family owns several manufacturing districts. Perhaps we could discuss trade opportunities—"

Oh boy.

They started coming one after another like merchants at a market stall.

Some bowed.

Some shook my hand.

Some tried to slip business cards into my pocket.

All while I was still holding Heloc in the air.

Honestly, the whole thing felt ridiculous.

Then suddenly—

"I DON’T GIVE A FUCK WHO YOU ARE!"

The roar shook the entire room.

Heloc.

The guy was still hanging in my grip, veins bulging in his neck.

His face had turned completely red with rage.

The room went quiet again.

"I challenged you," he growled. "And I won’t back down just because you’re some prince!"

Ah...

So he was one of those types.

Stubborn warrior pride.

Before I could say anything, Heloc suddenly twisted his body and jumped backward.

Armor appeared around his body almost instantly.

It wasn’t normal armor either.

The plates looked like they were made from the hide of a high-tier beast. Dark, thick, and pulsing with energy.

Then one of the guards hesitated for a moment before handing him the demon-tier sword.

Probably a bad idea.

Heloc grabbed it and vanished.

To everyone else in the room, it probably looked like teleportation.

But to me...

Holy shit, that was slow.

I could see every single movement.

His muscles tensing.

His feet pushing off the ground.

The blade rising above his shoulder.

Honestly, I had enough time to yawn if I wanted.

When he finally reached me, I simply raised my hand.

Clang.

My fingers grabbed the sword mid-swing.

Gasps erupted around the room.

Heloc’s eyes widened as the blade stopped dead in my grip.

I slowly coated my hand with a thick layer of Ki.

Then I squeezed.

Crack.

The demon-tier sword snapped in half like a cheap toy.

The broken pieces clattered onto the floor.

Clang. Clang.

Silence swallowed the room again.

Heloc just stared at the broken weapon in disbelief.

Then suddenly—

Thud.

He dropped to his knees.

"I apologize, Your Highness!"

That was fast.

"My actions were disrespectful," he continued quickly. "Had I known Lady Aurelia already had another suitor, I would never have challenged you."

He bowed his head deeply.

"The king never informed me."

I stared at him for a moment.

Then I sighed.

"Relax," I said.

I grabbed his shoulder and pulled him back to his feet.

"It’s fine. You didn’t know."

Heloc looked stunned.

"But," I added while glancing behind me, "you should probably apologize to Aurelia."

He immediately turned toward her.

"Lady Aurelia, I deeply apologize for my actions earlier."

Aurelia blinked a few times before nodding slowly.

"I... accept your apology."

Good. Problem solved.

I glanced around the room.

Broken floor tiles. Cracked pillars. And... yeah... half the wall was gone.

Oops.

"I’ll pay for the damages," I said casually.

Heloc shook his head immediately.

"No, Your Highness. That won’t be necessary."

He paused for a moment before suddenly smiling.

"After all... aside from being a seasoned warrior, I’m also a businessman."

Ah.

There it is.

Opportunity spotted.

"I see," I said.

I pulled out a small contact device and tossed it to him.

"Save your details."

Heloc caught it quickly.

"I’ll call you soon."

His eyes lit up like he’d just won the lottery.

"It would be my honor, Your Highness." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

Behind me, Aurelia still looked like her brain hadn’t caught up with reality.

I turned around and wrapped my arm around her waist.

Her body jerked instantly.

"H-Hey—!"

Before she could finish, I bent my knees slightly.

Then I jumped.

Boom.

The ground cracked as we shot into the air.

Wind rushed past us as the mansion quickly shrank below.

Aurelia grabbed onto my coat tightly.

"W-Where are we going?!" she shouted.

I looked toward the massive palace rising in the distance.

The Dwarf King’s Palace.

"Well," I said casually.

"Since we already caused this much trouble..."

"...might as well go meet the king."
