Chapter 70: Chapter 70: A Fluttering Heart

"So you’re saying you noticed something unusual about this man, Gordon Lynch, and you suspect he’s connected to the recent string of disappearances involving women and children?"

Inside the police station, the officer looked at Grace Winslow with a serious expression.

Grace nodded. "I saw him tailing women who were by themselves. In a situation like this, he’s either a predator looking to assault them or he’s planning to abduct them for trafficking."

"Officer, if he really is a human trafficker, arresting him sooner rather than later might mean we can still get the missing people back. It would also prevent more people from getting hurt."

"Alright, we’ve noted the situation you’ve reported. We will immediately assign people to investigate. If it’s proven that he is indeed a criminal, we will certainly arrest him. We won’t let him remain at large."

"Grace, you need to be careful from now on. Avoid any potential retaliation."

Grace slowly let out a breath.

’I hope they can catch Gordon Lynch soon. That way, there might still be a chance to change the fate of the more than one thousand people who’ve been trafficked.’

An hour had passed by the time she came out of the police station.

Grace felt like a huge weight had been lifted.

Worried something might happen to her, Archer Rhys personally escorted her to the entrance of her apartment building.

"This is far enough, I’m home now. Thanks for walking me back," Grace said, saying her goodbyes to Archer at the foot of the building.

Archer glanced up at the building and gave a faint nod. "Go on in. I’ll leave after I see you go upstairs." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Grace nodded.

"Archer? What are you doing here? Huh, Sis, you’re home?" Nolan Winslow had just gotten off work when he saw Archer Rhys and Grace standing together.

Grace paused and turned to see Nolan Winslow on his bicycle with Lily Callahan riding along, clearly just having returned from work.

"Archer, since you’re here, come on up for dinner. You didn’t even say goodbye when you left back then. My parents mention you all the time." Nolan Winslow locked up his bike and slung an arm around Archer Rhys’s shoulders.

Archer instinctively glanced toward Grace.

Grace had already started upstairs arm in arm with Lily Callahan, not noticing the interaction between the two men.

Nolan noticed Archer’s gaze and nudged him with his elbow. "What? Still got a thing for my sister?"

"You know, if you hadn’t suddenly left back then, my sister never would have ended up with that scumbag Caleb Forrest. She really liked you when you were kids. She was always saying she’d marry you when she grew up."

Archer’s fists quietly tightened. He tugged at the corner of his mouth. "Back then..."

"I know. Come on, let’s go eat. My sister might have to go back to the factory later. You can give her a ride." Nolan Winslow knew what had happened to the Rhys family, so he didn’t give Archer a chance to continue.

The two of them went upstairs together.

The aroma of cooking filled the air as soon as they reached the apartment.

Ryan Winslow and the other children were already home, sitting together and doing their homework.

Irene Lynch was busy in the kitchen, with Hayley helping her out.

"Auntie Grace!" The children were the most excited to see Grace walk in.

Grace always brought lots of snacks whenever she visited, so she was their favorite.

Grace smiled and went over, starting to help the little ones with their homework.

When Archer and Nolan walked in, they were greeted by the heartwarming scene.

Archer’s gaze fell on Grace, and he found he couldn’t look away.

Under the lights, Grace seemed to be bathed in a golden glow, making his heart begin to race.

After a long moment, he finally, with great difficulty, pulled his gaze away from Grace.

This moment, however, did not escape the notice of Nolan and Lily Callahan.
