I reincarnated as an elf .......and married the yandere villainess.-Chapter 80:Planning on her end.
Lilith sat in her office going through documents at an almost machine-like speed as she approved or threw the useless ones to the side while marking those who brought them.
Despite her working, her mind was on her beloved.
While their discussions had ended in a somewhat compromising note she knew that was the end.
She couldn’t help but feel a little guilty in her heart but a fraction of a second later, the justification broke through her weakness.
’I have to protect him... he can’t leave the castle... should I just chain him... I love him so much. What if you go outside and meet someone... I’m sorry"
She shook her head in denial purging the thought away. Her gaze shifted to his mark on her hand and a beautiful smile spread.
’He’s tied to me forever there is nothing to worry about... It’s good that no one can ever have him even if I die’
The smile turned twisted as her eyes narrowed just a little bit.
The thought of her death didn’t really bother her at all, with their bond she had total control of him even after she passes and he won’t live much longer before following her in death.
’Even death can’t separate us’
She stared out at the glowing veins.
’Maybe I should find a way to bind us even after death, what if he gets born somewhere else and finds another person. I won’t allow that.’
The knock on her door got her out of her sinking thoughts.
"Your majesty?" A familiar voice came.
"Come in."
Her advisor, Zelpher, stepped in and bowed before her.
"Have you organised everything as instructed?" She asked.
Zelpher nodded and passed a small notebook to her.
"The banquet has been organised and all the nobles available in the Court have accepted the invitation, " he said calmly.
Lilith nodded.
"I want him to be the centre of attention, " she said quietly, " did you make his clothes as I instructed?"
She asked while going through the small notebook.
Zelpher nodded but noticed she wasn’t looking at him.
"Yes your majesty, the tailor will do the final fitting today."
She nodded.
"Make sure to clear my schedule at that time, I want to see how my darling looks .. oh right, and the other plans have you gotten any news?"
She looked up at him her gaze serious.
Zelpher shook his head.
"I’ve sent our spies to the human continent but there has been no news about the islands your majesty," he said the disappointment even in his voice.
Lilth nodded.
"This changes the schedule, " she said calmly, "I planned to leave a week after the introductory banquet but it seems I will have to leave earlier. "
Zelpher studied her for a moment.
"And him?"
The temperature in the room dropped. She turned to look at the crescent in the sky.
"He stays," she said with no hesitation.
His eyes widened just a fraction.
"I see," he replied but he didn’t look convinced at all.
Lilith stared at him her brows furrowing.
"You also disagree," she said coldly.
Though her tone was cold, she was more curious than cross.
Zelpher exhaled softly. The hands behind his back are tightening.
"I think," he said carefully, " that he will not agree."
Lilith stared at him for a moment almost uncomfortably so before an amused chuckle escaped her.
"You are right on that," she said her voice dropping, " and that’s the issue."
She was genuinely scared he might try to follow her or do something worse.
Although they had come to an agreement, who knew if he would suddenly change his mind.
She had made sure to keep the progress a secret even when he asked.
Lilith sighed inwardly at that thought.
She looked down at the map drawn in response to the coordinates she had been given.
She had even estimated different places that had the same similarities to check if she hadn’t succeeded on the original coordinates.
"If I had forbidden him outright," she said," he might try to follow anyway."
"Are you scared that you might lose him in the islands?" he asked her.
Lilith didn’t respond to his question immediately.
Her fingers softly drummed on the table almost rhythmically.
"I suppose you could say that," she said then added," to avoid something like that, I threw a small possibility of him coming but I’m not sure if that would last."
Zelpher said nothing.
Being an observer of what was going on between the two, he didn’t even know what to make of their dynamics.
He respected Atheline’s endurance and his care for her majesty which had at least lightened her mood unlike before, when he walked on eggshells.
"When do you plan to leave, your majesty, " he asked.
"After the introductory banquet, that very night or the day after if I get distracted," she said.
Zelphers frowned slightly. That was earlier than he had expected her to leave.
"Isn’t that too soon?" He asked in surprise.
"The longer I stay," she said," the more likely he is to act first."
Zelpher acquainted. That was a fair point she was making.
"And how do you intend to do that," he asked," he’ll notice immediately you’re missing."
While Lilith knew exactly where he was most of the time, they had come to establish a routine naturally as any married couple and neither of them had ever broken it.
"Do you intend to restrain him," Zelpher added when she didn’t answer.
Killing intent flowed out of her as her sharp gaze snapped to him.
He stumbled but regained his balance a moment later and withstood it with no expression.
Lilith took it back and leaned back on the chair.
"No," she said in finality, "I will not have him treated like a prisoner in my own palace."
’Isn’t he already one?’
Zelpher inclined his head immediately.
"Yes, of course."
The tension in the room eased just slightly then she spoke.
"However, I want you to watch him discreetly," she said," if he even tries to step out of the palace..."
"I’ll inform you."
"If he attempts to follow..."
"I delay him."
She broke the pen she had picked up in half her eyes narrowing just a fraction.
"You fail," she said," and I will consider it a personal betrayal."
Silence fell in the room as Zelpher briefly hesitated.
"Your majesty..."
Her gaze shifted back to him.
"Say it."
He exhaled softly.
"You’re taking a risk that can not be fully predicted," he added, " even for you."
It felt like a last desperate act of stopping her just as the saintess had done.
Her expression didn’t change but something in her eyes did.
"I know," she chuckled softly," that’s why it’s worth it."
She stood up, picked up her discarded coat, and walked towards the mirror where she checked herself to make sure she wasn’t messy.
"Prepare what’s necessary, " she said over her back," I want no attention drawn to my absence. "
"It will be done."
She nodded and walked towards the door but paused at the threshold.
Just for a second.
"On that day," she calmly said," make sure he sleeps well."
Zelphers’ brows lifted slightly.
"A sedative?"
Her gaze flicked back to him then she stepped out of the door.
"If necessary."
Her last words were carried back to him.
On the other hand, Lilith’s footsteps hurried towards the library where Atheline would be reading and absorbing the dark elven history.
