I Received System to Become Dragonborn-Chapter 1261: Healing Power
Seeing that the drill had clearly ended in his favor, Cody finally allowed himself to relax.
His shoulders loosened, and a small, almost shy smile tugged at the corner of his lips. It was brief, but it was real.
Around the arena, several of the remaining candidates nodded toward him in open approval. There was no cheering now, no noise. Just quiet acknowledgment from people who understood exactly what they had witnessed and Cody’s effort all this time..
From above, Erend leaned back slightly, arms crossed. Adrien, Billy, Jessica, Thomas, and Conrad stood nearby, all watching Cody as he left the arena floor.
"That was solid," Billy said first, breaking the silence. "Not flashy. Just... effective."
Adrien nodded. "He understands his ability now. More importantly, he understands how others are using their Magic energy."
Jessica nodded. "His control has improved significantly. He’s applying disruption with precision instead of raw output."
Thomas smiled faintly. "He has a strong foundation. Given time, his ability will only become more dangerous, right? We just need to supply him with more nutrition and add to his training schedule."
Conrad crossed his arms. "He’s already dangerous in my opinion right now."
Erend gave a slow nod. "Yeah. He’s ready for what comes next."
Erend said the last part quietly. More to himself.
The arena erupted again.
"Bring in the third group leader," Adrien said.
This time, Selene stepped forward.
There was a brief murmur among the candidates, quickly subdued.
Selene was known as a support-type Magic user, and this was a direct combat drill. Normally, expectations would have been low.
But no one below looked relaxed. No one smirked. No one underestimated her.
From above, Erend frowned slightly. Adrien and Billy shared the same puzzled expression because they haven’t really paid as much attention to detail as the other three toward the candidates.
"Does she actually fight well?" Erend asked quietly, glancing toward Jessica, Conrad, and Thomas.
"Yes," Thomas replied calmly. "You wouldn’t expect it from someone with a support-type ability. But... you’ll see."
That answer only deepened their curiosity.
Selene stepped into the center of the ring. She was tall and slender, long legs planted firmly against the arena floor. Her hair was pulled into a tight bun, her small face calm but sharp. Her eyes focused and unwavering.
She was pretty but there was something fierce in her posture as well, something unyielding.
She didn’t look like a support-type Magic user at all. She looked like a warrior.
"Start," Adrien called.
The moment the signal rang out, her first opponent moved.
It was Marcus Vollen. He surged forward, lightning crackling along his arms. His Magic aptitude had been exceptional from the start because of the influence from Zerathul that moment, and he wasted no time proving it.
He struck hard and fast, electricity roaring toward her in a decisive opening assault.
Selene didn’t retreat.
A dense and layered translucent barrier formed instantly before her.
Marcus’s lightning slammed into it with explosive force, sparks scattering across the arena floor.
The shield held. Not even a step back.
From above, Erend’s eyes narrowed.
"That’s not a simple support shield. Against Marcus she was able to hold it," he muttered.
Below, Selene remained perfectly still behind her barrier, her gaze locked onto Marcus as if daring him to try again.
Selene did not retaliate immediately. She stood there with feet rooted and shoulders relaxed, while Marcus hammered at her barrier from every angle.
Lightning lashed and screamed, striking high, low, straight on, then from the sides as he moved with intimidating speed. His attack rang through the arena like thunder.
The shield flared brighter and brighter, its surface rippling under the constant assault.
Then cracks appear. A sharp sound echoed as fractures spread across the translucent surface.
For a split second, many thought she had finally been overwhelmed.
But Selene’s face remained calm.
Then, instead of reinforcing it, she released the barrier herself.
The shield shattered outward in a controlled burst, fragments of light dissolving into the air.
At the same instant, Marcus surged forward, lightning roaring around his body as he seized the opening.
Selene didn’t dodge. She activated her ability inward. Warm luminous energy surged through her body just before impact.
Marcus struck her chest, then her shoulder, then her ribs in rapid succession. Each hit landed cleanly and sent her sliding back across the arena floor.
And each wound closed almost instantly. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
Bruises faded. Skin knit. Pain vanished before it could fully take hold.
From above, Erend stiffened. Adrien’s eyes widened. Billy sucked in a sharp breath.
"She’s letting herself get hit," Billy muttered.
"She heals herself faster than the damage registers," Adrien said quietly.
It was reckless. It was daring. And it was terrifying.
No one had even considered using healing that way. To turn their own body into a proving ground.
Marcus frowned as he struck again and again, frustration creeping into his expression. Every hit should have slowed her. But It didn’t. He already knew that she was able to do that. But he thought he could give her something this time.
Selene suddenly stepped forward through the lightning and punched him.
The blow landed squarely, snapping his head to the side.
She followed with another strike, then another, driving him back. Marcus staggered, forced to retreat as she pressed him relentlessly.
When he managed to land a counter, Selene slid back but she stayed upright, her wounds already gone.
Again and again, he hit her and she healed again as well.
Her eyes never wavered.
Eventually, Marcus burned through the last of his Magic energy.
The lightning around his body flickered, thinned, then died out completely. His movements slowed and his attack weaker than the last.
Selene saw it instantly. She stepped in.
Her first punch drove the air from his lungs. The second sent him reeling. The third knocked him flat onto his back. Even without Magic, Selene’s physical strength, sharpened by training and enhanced beyond normal human limits by Magic energy, was more than enough.
Marcus lay there for a moment, then laughed breathlessly.
"...Alright," he said, raising a hand. "I’m done. You win."
Selene lowered her fist, steady and unshaken. She grinned and helped Marcus up.
