I Reawakened as an Inferno Hero-Chapter 23: ’Royal cloak’
Chapter 23: 'Royal cloak'
The superheroes in the hall remained quiet, acting like they knew who was coming, which Axel had to agree, they did.
All stared at the top of the wall in front of them, almost towards the ceiling.
Dan did the same, and Axel wondered who was coming.
SCREECH!

With the sound of a tire screeching, an opening was made at the top of the wall in front of them. Axel squinted his eyes, looking at it.
It came slowly, and seeing just half of it, Axel decided it looked like a wagon without having an animal to pull it.
The only difference was that it was more modern.
It slowly came out of the wall, and Axel could already see a figure on it. He couldn't see the figure too well, though, because the wagon was high up and the figure was well covered in it.
Then, with a censorious speed, it came down, and upon reaching the middle, it halted. What seemed like a small podium in the carriage was now raising the figure up.
The figure came up, now where they could see it, and Axel saw that it was no longer just a figure. Instead, it was a royal hero.
It was a man, actually, a bit old—at least, he had grey hairs by the sides of his head. He was clothed in a bodysuit (the compulsory attire for any superhero Axel had seen). But it wasn't a normal bodysuit, though, and that alone stopped Axel from scoffing.
It was a royal bodysuit, golden in color, the edges shimmering slightly with high-tech enhancements. Over this was a cloak, radiating a cool, mesmerizing light at the edges—neon-like, actually. Faintly glowing golden-like patterns traced along his arms and back, pulsing brighter as he stared down at the superheroes.
He had a mustache, almost covering his mouth. It wasn't a normal mustache, though. This was more angular and a mix of black and gray—black had the majority, though it was by almost a pinch that gray would pass it.
He carried an almost prudent face, and for a second, to Axel, he seemed like a villain.
The electro-sonic voice from the seemingly invisible speaker spoke now:
"Meet Royal Cloak!"
The audience, instantly—just a quarter of a split second after the voice had spoken—jammed their hands together.
Axel had to force himself to clap. To him, the name sounded ridiculous.
Royal Cloak? Yeah, right, he thought and chuckled a bit.
Dan didn't even notice that Axel chuckled. His eyes were on Royal Cloak, looking intently into his.
They clapped loudly for nine seconds straight, and Axel decided that this superhero was a powerful one. And, at that, he was a respected superhero.
"Welcome!" he said in a stunning voice. Stunning because it was a mix of angelic and hoarse—one that Axel was fascinated with.
"Welcome to Superpolis Academy. An academy inside the famous HQ. Well, not everyone knows that an academy is inside this HQ. That's because people don't really know how large and massive the HQ is."
He paused and looked at the people he was talking to. Noting that they all were paying attention, he continued:
**"The HQ is approximately the size of a town on Earth. So, you can see it's big. What makes it big is also that it extends underground. Here, we train and guide the next heroes who will save and protect the world from danger. All of you here have your goal—not necessarily that we should know, but you do, and that's what makes you superheroes. Because being a superhero comes with responsibilities.
"Here, we guide and train you for just a month before letting you out to live on your own and do your duties as superheroes. Here, you learn more about your powers, how to use them, what to do as a superhero, and then what not to. Here, we teach you about being a superhero.
"Why is this necessary, you may ask? Why must I go to an academy? Why must I be taught how to use my powers? Well, we're not necessarily teaching you how to use your powers. I mean, how could we? We're only teaching you how to make greater use of them, how to upgrade them, and lastly, how to make use of them at a certain degree.
"Importantly, you may not be able to save the world on your own, so here, we make it easy to do so."**
Axel was a bit bemused by that.
How? he thought.
Royal Cloak seemed to have heard Axel's thoughts—or was it just coincidence?—because soon he was saying:
"Making it easy isn't actually providing shortcuts. What I meant by making it easier is that now, you'll be able to meet other superheroes, and you guys might team up and help each other once in a while when the going gets tough."
Axel nodded in the affirmative.
This, to him, was quite interesting. What if they all teamed up and defeated a very mighty villain? That would be dope.
"The world is in danger. Many planets are being torn apart by different villains as we speak now—villainous overlords, mighty villains, overturning planets. Only you guys can save the world, this realm, this damn galaxy. You all awakened your powers for a purpose, and we, we help you reach full potential to save this cursed world, engulfed in supernatural perils."
Axel's eyes swirled around, and he saw that everyone was well concentrated.
"I won't want to waste your time or bore you all, so I'll go straight to the point and why we are here. This is more of an inauguration ceremony, only that it's not a ceremony. We have, through our high-tech technology, scanned your names and powers, and that's what we are here for— to say it and enroll you guys into the academy."
The words rang deeper into Axel's brain.
Say our names and powers? To everyone's hearing?
He couldn't say what was wrong with him, but at that moment, he felt a chill crawl up and clicked his teeth.
