I Play Dungeons in the Police Station-Chapter 146 - 121: Going Home
"Alright, I’m moving next month. How about you lend me a hand with the moving for a day?"
"Deal."
Having settled things with Lin Feifei, Li Xiang felt a lot less pressured. At least on this visit home, he had something to report to his parents. As long as they didn’t discover the truth, he’d be safe and could enjoy some peace and quiet.
After dinner, Lin Feifei drove Li Xiang and Moqiu back home.
"Where are you staying tonight?"
"At a hotel, of course. What, sleep at your place?"
"What’s wrong with my place? It’s not like you haven’t stayed over before."
Li Xiang’s words immediately made Lin Feifei think of that time during the New Year. That day, she was in a bad mood and got drunk. She really did end up sleeping at Li Xiang’s that night.
Thinking of this, Lin Feifei’s face reddened a bit, but seeing Li Xiang’s smirk, she retorted, "Fine, I’ll sleep over. I’ll take the bed, you and Moqiu can find your own spot."
Lin Feifei parked the car, pulled her suitcase, and bravely followed Li Xiang into the rented room.
When you’re drunk, you don’t notice a thing, you just sleep wherever.
But when you’re sober, it always feels a little strange somehow.
"Go take a shower first. I’m going to take Moqiu out for a walk."
Li Xiang knew it might be awkward if he stayed while she took a shower. Besides, it was part of his routine to take Moqiu out for a little walk every night.
"Okay."
Hearing his suggestion to step outside, Lin Feifei felt relieved, although she trusted his character and knew he wouldn’t peek.
Still, if he was here, it would just feel strange.
Li Xiang took Moqiu for a walk that lasted about an hour and bought some fruit from a fruit store on the way back.
Lin Feifei, fresh from her bath, was lounging in a nightgown on his bed.
"You’re back. Check if there’s any hot water left in the heater, would you? I didn’t know it ran out toward the end of my shower. I also don’t really know how to use your hot water heater."
Li Xiang glanced at her. With her smooth skin clad in a silk nightgown, her long legs were a tantalizing sight.
Summer, truly a season of blessings.
"It’s fine, cold water’s good."
Li Xiang decided he should keep his cool, and a cold shower did the trick.
"That’s not good. It’s the time of year when you could easily catch a cold. What if you ended up getting sick?"
"Don’t worry, I’m as strong as an ox."
Putting down the fruit, Li Xiang unleashed Moqiu from the leash and put some dog food and water in bowls, then picked up his clothes to change on the balcony and headed to the bathroom.
Guys are fast in the shower, just a rinse, shampoo, face wash, soap, and rinse again. In ten minutes flat, he was done.
Out of the bathroom, he dried his hair with a towel.
"You’re done already? I haven’t even finished washing the fruit."
Turns out Lin Feifei had been washing the fruit he’d bought while he showered. She hadn’t realized washing fruit would take longer than his shower.
"Let me help you with that."
Packed together in the tiny kitchen, they couldn’t help catching whiffs of each other’s scent, stirring up their emotions.
Li Xiang could clearly tell that Lin Feifei’s face had turned red all the way up to her ears.
"I... I’m gonna go lie down now."
With that, Lin Feifei, head down, slipped past Li Xiang and darted away, leaving behind a fragrant trail.
Her flushed face looked just like an apple.
Li Xiang smiled smugly and carried on washing the fruit.
"Come and have some fruit."
He brought the washed fruit over, and Lin Feifei, engrossed in her phone and avoiding his gaze, reached out and grabbed an apple to munch on.
Li Xiang put down the fruit plate and settled on the bed himself.
"Aren’t you supposed to be sleeping with Moqiu?"
"Moqiu’s bed is too small. I’ll buy him a bigger one tomorrow. Then I’ll sleep with him."
"Hmph, liar."
A girl’s face is delicate, and she knew perfectly well that a dog bed the size of a basin couldn’t fit a person.
Saying so just gave her a graceful way out.
Truth be told, how could Li Xiang possibly spend a night sleeping with a dog?
They lay there on the bed, not speaking, both awkwardly fiddling with their phones.
But their minds weren’t on their phones, just mindlessly scrolling.
Both thinking of some way to break the awkward silence.
"You..."
"You..."
Trying to ease the tension, Li Xiang thought he’d start a conversation, but Lin Feifei spoke first. So he quickly said, "You go first."
"Meeting your parents tomorrow, is there something I should buy? Any customs I should know of in that area?"
Meeting a boyfriend’s parents for the first time, Lin Feifei was a bit nervous, worried she might not do well and make a bad impression.
"No customs, really. My mom would be over the moon just having you visit. You don’t need to bring anything."
"No way, visiting elders for the first time, I can’t come empty-handed. I don’t want to seem impolite."
Seeing her so anxious only made Li Xiang happy, recognizing that she cared about meeting his parents too. He teasingly said, "My wife is so polite, I’ve really lucked out with you!"
"Who’s your wife? I haven’t said yes." Discovering her true feelings revealed by him, Lin Feifei panicked a little.
Li Xiang capitalized on it, "Oh really? And yet here you are visiting my family?"
"I... I just felt sorry for you, the way you’re always pressured to marry, so I decided to help out."
"Well then, keep on helping me out, follow through to the end, help me settle this marriage, and my mom won’t pressure me anymore."
The more Li Xiang spoke, the more red Lin Feifei’s face became. She turned away, burying her face in her knees, avoiding his gaze.
Seeing her silent, Li Xiang seized the chance to inch closer, wrapping his arms around her from behind, whispering, "Feifei, you’re truly beautiful."
Li Xiang could clearly feel that at the moment he embraced her, Lin Feifei’s entire body stiffened.
His breath traced along her porcelain neck, and the hormone-laden air turned heady.
"Mmm~"
Lin Feifei’s murmur was his breaking point. Li Xiang pulled her in, kissing her deeply.
-----------------
April 29th, the first day of the May Day holiday.
After last night’s late-night antics, Li Xiang lazily indulged in sleeping in today.
After all, he simply didn’t want to get up.
Anyone with a famous star in their arms could afford to not get up. Truly unbeatable.
After some morning exercises, dragging their feet, they finally got out of bed around ten and tidied up, leaving the house at eleven.
They wouldn’t be making it home by lunchtime today.
The plan was to grab a bite outside and then swing by the supermarket to grab some smokes, wine, cosmetics, and health products for the folks.
Lin Feifei, of course, settled for nothing ordinary—ordinary items just weren’t her style.
She picked some Huazi cigarettes, Wuliangye liquor, and renowned international brands of cosmetics, expounding on her choices while Li Xiang stood cluelessly beside her.
The health products were also popular, well-advertised brands.
"That’s enough, that’s enough."
It was no use trying to stop her; Lin Feifei managed to fill a whole cart with gifts.
"Shall we go? Do you know how to drive?"
"Haven’t gotten my license yet."
"Really, in this day and age?"
"Here I am."
Li Xiang pointed humorously at himself. He really hadn’t learned yet, mainly because his paycheck couldn’t cover owning or maintaining a car.
Now he could afford to sign up, but time to learn was scarce.
"You should really get on with it; we can’t have me driving all the time. Long rides are exhausting."
"Alright, after the long weekend, I’ll sign up for lessons."
Considering it, Li Xiang realized it was time to learn. It was inconvenient without a car, especially now that he had a girlfriend. He couldn’t keep relying on her for rides.
Li Xiang opened up the navigation for the drive home while Lin Feifei drove her red sports car onto the highway, heading toward Jing’an County.
