I PICKED UP A CHILD IN A DUMPSTER-Chapter 82: ESCAPE PLAN.
Si Hon turned his head toward the neighboring cell.
And stared.
(Should I?)
Slowly, Si Hon walked toward the neighboring cell and leaned slightly between the bars to peek inside.
"Hey... hello? Your neighbor here," he called casually, raising a hand in a lazy wave. "Woohoo?"
From the dark corner of the cell, a soft laugh answered him.
A figure stirred.
The person wearing a long robe slowly stood up and began walking toward the bars. Each step echoed faintly against the damp stone floor. As the torchlight crept across the robe, the shadow peeled away little by little—
Revealing a woman.
Late twenties, maybe. Faint red hair that caught the light like a dull embers, and sharp red pupils staring straight at him.
Si Hon blinked once.
"Woah... a demon?" he said flatly.
He shrugged.
"Well... too many weird things have been happening to me, so honestly this isn’t even shocking anymore."
The woman’s eye twitched.
"...Is this your first time seeing someone with red eyes?!" she snapped suddenly, pointing dramatically at her face. "Oh my gosh..."
She groaned under her breath and rubbed her forehead before walking all the way to the bars, stopping right in front of him.
"So whatever you’re doing," she sighed while scratching the back of her head, "you should probably stop it, kid."
Si Hon blinked again.
"( ̄□ ̄;) Um... you’re not even shocked about the fact that I’m outside the cell?"
"Nah." She waved a hand dismissively. "Trust me, plenty of guys tried escaping before with teleport skills."
She tilted her head, studying him more carefully.
"Most of them can’t even use their teleport anymore because of the magic suppression here... so now I’m curious."
Her eyes narrowed slightly.
"How did you get out?"
Si Hon crossed his arms proudly.
"(⌐■-■) ...Oh. I’m just GOATED, I guess?"
He casually lifted the bone in his hand.
"Well anyway, I can get you out too. Want me to?"
Before she could answer, Si Hon suddenly turned around toward the rest of the prison corridor and shouted; "So! Anyone wanna escape together?!"
Silence.
Then the entire prison suddenly exploded with voices.
"Nah, we don’t wanna die yet."
"LOL this kid trying to escape on his first day KEWK."
"Just leave him alone, he’ll get caught in five minutes anyway."
"RIP kid KEKW."
"Shut up, some of us are trying to sleep!"
Si Hon slowly turned back around.
His face was completely blank.
"( ̄ー ̄;)... Yeah. Alright, I guess."
Behind the bars, the red-haired woman snorted in amusement and placed a hand on her hip, clearly entertained.
"Well then, kid," she said with a smirk, looking him up and down, "how exactly are you planning to get me out?"
"ಠ_ಠ I’ll break the lock, of course," Si Hon replied immediately.
The woman stared at him.
"( ̄□ ̄;) ...With what?"
Si Hon grinned proudly and raised the bone like a trophy.
"Tadaa~ see? I’ll break the lock for you, Noona."
There was a long pause.
The woman’s face twitched.
"( ̄□ ̄;)... Yeah, never mind. I’ll pass."
She turned around, walking back deeper into the cell before sitting against the wall again. With one lazy flick of her hand, she shooed him away.
"Well, don’t die, kid. You’re pretty funny." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
She glanced at him one last time, eyes half-lidded.
"And those striking eyes are... kinda cute, I guess."
Then she leaned back against the wall like the conversation was already over.
Si Hon stood there for a second.
"...Okay. Well, thanks for the good luck."
He turned and started walking down the prison hallway.
(Well... wish me luck, I guess...?)
Si Hon walked down the dim prison hallway, the faint torchlight flickering against damp stone walls.
The femur bone rested confidently in his hand like it was some legendary weapon instead of... well... a bone, haha... His footsteps echoed softly through the corridor while the distant sounds of prisoners muttering and chains clinking filled the background.
(...Yea, I know... wish me luck, I guess...)
After a few more steps, Si Hon suddenly stopped.
He stood there quietly for a moment before raising a finger to his chin, his brows slowly knitting together as a thought crept in.
(Wait... now that I think about it...)
His gaze drifted down the long corridor ahead.
(I can’t just... casually stroll into the Cathedral or whatever that place was...)
He frowned.
(And even if I somehow get past that... this whole place is basically a maze...)
Si Hon slowly turned his head and looked back toward the direction he came from.
The hallway stretched into darkness, rows of prison cells lining both sides like a silent watchers.
"...Hmm."
Instead of continuing forward, Si Hon casually turned around.
And began walking deeper into the prison.
(Yeah... let’s explore a bit first.)
A few moments later, he stopped in front of the first heavy iron door he saw.
The bars were thick and aged, dark with rust and time. Si Hon leaned slightly closer, squinting at the lock like a scholar studying ancient ruins.
The metal mechanism looked heavy. Solid. Definitely not something meant to be broken by... of course... a femur bone.
Si Hon tapped his chin again thoughtfully.
(Woah... this is new...)
He glanced down the hallway again before returning his attention to the cell door.
(If this place is deeper inside the prison... maybe there’s another route out around here...)
A small grin slowly crept onto his face.
(And judging by the look of this door...)
He lifted the bone confidently.
(...this might actually lead somewhere.)
Insert the goofy background noise or... should I say... song...
"...Alright," he muttered to himself. "Operation... Bone Break."
CLANG.
The sound echoed through the hallway like a church bell.
Si Hon froze.
"...Ah."
From several cells, irritated voices immediately answered.
"Oi! What the hell was that?!"
"Kid, are you mining the wall or something?"
"Kekwk— is he really trying to break the lock with a bone?!"
Si Hon scratched the back of his head awkwardly and whispered to the door, "Shhh... cooperate a little, will you?"
He lifted the bone again.
CLANG. CLANG.
