Chapter 61: Freedom.

"Valexeria... what kind of mystery are you hiding from us?" He muttered.

But before he could think more about this, the door to his room creaked open.

His sister peeked from the space, and after that, she walked inside the room.

"Sylvia," he said, looking at her.

She rushed towards his bed and sat next to him. She grabbed his arm and hugged him. "Big brother, did you enjoy your time playing the game?"

"Yes, I did." He said, patted her head slightly.

"I saw the food which you kept for me... how many hours was I playing the game for?" He said.

"It’s been seven hours, and you spent the whole day playing the game."

’Seven hours? I spent almost a week inside the game, and in real life, it’s been only seven hours?’

"By the way, Sylvia."

"I made a couple of dollars while playing..." he said.

A confused expression appeared on her face as she muttered. "W-What? You’re joking around, right, brother?"

Leon shook his head slightly. "I’m not, I actually made money while playing the game..."

Tears welled up in her eyes as her voice broke. She clutched him tightly, her sobs muffled against his chest.

"Brother... you always blamed yourself after we lost our parents."

"You carried that guilt every day, because we never had enough to spend on us, and you... You found yourself in the wrong..."

He patted her head lightly and said. "Don’t cry, no need to make me remember the past, Sylvia."

’I promised them both that I’ll never grieve over that anymore.’

"I’ll make enough money for us now, don’t think much about working part-time jobs." He said.

Her eyes widened slightly, lips parted. "B-brother... how do you know about that?"

"Did you think that I don’t pay attention to my sister’s behaviour? Just stop it all, and focus on studying."

A warm smile was tucked up on her lips. "Thank you, brother. You’re the best in this whole world." She said, hugging him tightly.

Sylvia left the room after a while; Leon remained seated as his back rested next to the pillow.

A small yawn escaped through his mouth as he stretched both of his arms up in the air.

"I’ll sleep for now, and play tomorrow." He muttered.

He lay on the bed and pulled the sheets over him.

Closed his eyes as sleep fell on him soon after.

Morning arrived earlier than he thought. Bright rays of the sun were coming inside the room through open windows.

Golden strips of rays were covering the entire ground. Morning breeze was entering through the window as it made the entire room chilly.

Leon’s eyes opened as he groaned. "What time is it..."

He grabbed the mobile and opened one of his eyes to check the time.

His eyes widened as he muttered.

"What? Is it 12 pm? I have been sleeping for the last 14 hours?"

He pushed himself back up and picked up the console helmet, which was kept beside him.

Put it on his head as he pressed the button.

He logged into the game. The surroundings were still the Moon Knights’ camp, but no one else was present.

’It seems like all of them moved before I logged in.’

’Even the sword knight faction guys aren’t here anymore.’

’I’ll head towards the Dark Mage Tower’s branch.’

He started walking towards the main city, and his eyes kept scanning the surroundings.

He walked along the path where the factions had once clashed. The ground was soaked in the blood of those who had fought in the war.

A foul stench rose from the earth, and fragments of shattered weapons still lay scattered around.

He grabbed his nose, blocking the air. "This area stinks, dried blood’s smell is too much... if I inhale it a little too much, I might get some infections." He muttered.

He kept walking as his steps remained steady. It didn’t take him long enough to reach a spot from where familiar energy was coming.

"Wait... are these remnants of dark mana?"

He made his way there and leaned down slightly.

Touching the ground with his palm, a system panel appeared in front of his eyes.

"Hmmm... as expected, the people who were controlling the undead were surely dark mages."

He got back up as he scratched his chin. "There are only six of us... and I don’t think that there’s any traitor among us either."

A small sigh escaped through his lips as he muttered. "Let’s forget this for now. I’ll ask this to Valexeria herself."

He started walking again, hands tucked deep inside his pockets.

Soon after, he reached the main city, which is Stoneheart.

The streets were now more crowded than usual, shop vendors were selling a bunch of items, and enthusiasm filled the air.

A bunch of stalls for free food were kept next to each shop, from where the players and other people were taking food.

A thought curled up inside Leon’s mind as he scanned the streets.

’Why is the city so lively today?’

He moved deeper inside. Posters and celebratory stickers were plastered across walls and the fronts of houses, all proudly declaring "Independence."

"Oh... It’s understandable now, we helped them to get freedom from the Moon Knights." He muttered, looking at the text.

A smile tucked his lips as he continued walking, the streets were filled with such kind of posters.

After walking for a while, he finally reached the Dark Mage Tower’s Branch.

A small sigh escaped through his mouth as he scratched the back of his neck.

He extended his hand and grabbed the door’s handle.

But before he could pull it, a scream fell into his ears.

"AHHH!!! SYNTHIA STOPPP!!!"
