I Picked the Useless Class… Turns Out It's the Most Broken in the Game-Chapter 36: Ambush.
Soon after, the carriage started moving towards the route that led them to the next city.
They had long passed the small town in which they stayed, now they were in a barren land where there was nothing in sight.
All four directions were filled with land with no life of humans, just sand and ponds of water.
Inside the carriage, the weak boy who was dressed in fancy clothes had already started dozing off.
Aren, Leon, and Synthia were talking among themselves.
Aren’s eyes shifted towards Leon. He scanned him from top to bottom, and then his voice came out a bit loud. "Are you a player?" He said.
Leon gave a small nod and then looked into the eyes of Aren and said. "Are you also a player?"
’I already know that he’s a player, but there’s no issue if I ask once for confirmation.’
Aren’s smile grew wider, and he pointed his thumb towards his chest as he said loudly. "Yes, I’m a player, and I’m a berserker."
’Berserker? It’s not one of the classes that I saw at the start of the game. Is he also like Maya and me?’
Aren leaned in slightly towards Leon, and his voice came out loud. "And what class are you, Ragnar?"
Leon closed his eyes slightly as he replied to him. "I’m a dark mage."
Aren’s eyes widened in shock, jaw dropped slightly as he said. "You’re a mage? And still your physique is this good? You’re not half bad, Ragnar." Voice was loud, tone was astonished.
A smirk curled up on Leon’s lips, voice came low but firm. "Thank you for that compliment, Aren. But I’m not good."
Synthia smacked Leon on his hand, her voice came a bit loud but playful. "You and not good? Both of these things can’t be put in a room together, Ragnar." She said, looking straight at Leon.
Aren leaned in slightly towards her, and a wide smile appeared on his face as he said. "He’s that good? I knew that he was strong." He said as he smacked his fist on the palm.
A small sigh escaped through Leon’s mouth, voice of his voice came a little annoyed. "You flatter me, senior Synthia." He said.
Before they could continue talking, something struck the carriage’s wheels, which made the carriage stop moving.
Aren’s teeth gritted, eyes widened slightly as he grabbed the handle, which was placed along the ceiling of the carriage.
The boy in good clothing bumped upwards because of the sudden impact, and his head hit the top of the ceiling, which made him wake up.
A loud groan escaped through his mouth as he grabbed the top of his head, and tears started to well up in his eyes. "Aghhh!!"
Synthia was also about to bump towards the front seat, but before she could even move slightly, Leon’s hand grabbed her through her waist.
He pulled her closer, grabbing her tightly with one hand, and the other hand was gripping the other handle.
"Stay sharp, senior." He said as he peeked outside through the window.
Her cheeks started to turn red, the temperature of her forehead began increasing, and she buried her face next to her chest.
Aren also peeked outside through the window, acting calm, which goes opposite of her traits.
’He’s acting way calmer than I imagined. It’s completely different from his personality from a while ago.’
There was an archer, hiding behind a small hill of sand, his bow was directed towards the carriage, the eyes of his eyes were sharp as they were marking the window as its next target.
"It’s bad," Aren said, looking at the archer with only one of his eyes.
"You know that person, Aren?" Leon asked, eyes sharp.
Aren gave a small nod, his gaze didn’t falter for even a single second. "Yes, he’s a member of a guild, Blood Sigil, with which my guild is enemies." He said.
Leon’s eyes sharpened even more, staring at the enemy. "Do you know his level? Can we take him on?"
Aren’s eye flinched once, voice came low. "He’s level 218, one of the top 40 rankers of Eternal Descent." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
He took a small pause in his words, but then continued. "He’s weaker than me, but I doubt that he’s alone. An archer walking along? Not even a single chance in a million outcomes."
Leon gave a small nod, his eyes remained fixed on his bow. "Yes, you’re rig-"
Before he could finish his words, the carriage driver shouted. "HELPPPP!!!"
The voice of the carriage driver fell into their ears.
Multiple arrows from the archer came flying from the side, right towards the carriage. The arrows pierced through the carriage completely, and when they made contact with it, the arrows started to burst, which led to a huge explosion.
The archer traveled towards the carriage, as another person came from the right.
The archer had black hair which was long enough to fall below his shoulders, eyes were sharp, wearing green clothes with a silver chest plate on top of the green jacket.
The person who had just revealed himself from the shadows had a huge axe in his right hand, his hair was brown, and his height seemed to be around six feet four inches.
He was wearing brown armor, which had multiple engravings on top of it, the armor didn’t seem to be less than that of an epic grade.
"That was a nice hit, Josh." The man of huge height said.
Putting his bow back inside his inventory, Josh’s voice came low, but calm. "The mission to hunt ranker Aren is complete."
"Let’s go back now, Lio."
Lio raised his hand as he scratched the back of his neck and said. "Uh... Josh. Don’t you think we should check once that Aren is dead? Because we didn’t get the notification about ’player kill’"
Josh’s steps stopped midway, he stood at one spot, and then rushed towards the carriage. He started to look through every spot of the carriage, trying to find a trace or even a single loot drop from Aren.
