I Pick up a Lost Godhood-Chapter 41 - 39: I... Really Forgot to Bring It
Seething with rage, the Nine Heavens Fire Simurgh let out a long shriek as it shot into the sky. Reaching a great height, it suddenly dove, flames contracting around its body as it clawed at the Wind Thunder Roaring Python.
A whirlwind erupted from the burning Wind Thunder Roaring Python’s body, immediately sweeping away the flames on its head. The water from the deep abyss it occupied was also pulled up into the vortex, forming a water tornado entwined with crackling lightning. Imbued with the power of wind and thunder, it blasted toward the descending Fire Simurgh.
Wang Meng was stunned for a moment. ’Isn’t that the little girl with the peeping habit?’
Watching the magnificent Fire Simurgh, Wang Meng couldn’t help but think of Eight Discount. ’I once had a little roast chicken myself. I might not have been able to raise it to be this powerful, but I definitely could’ve made it this plump.’
The moment she saw the sheer power of the attack, Zhao Lingxuan knew this was bad. She immediately flipped off her flying sword and, with a sharp gesture, sent the long sword hurtling toward one of the Wind Thunder Roaring Python’s eyes.
At this point, the Wind Thunder Roaring Python couldn’t be bothered with that; it focused its full power on its attack against the Fire Simurgh.
BOOM~~~~~~~~~~
RUMBLE RUMBLE RUMBLE...
Two completely opposing forces collided, and the storm erupted at full blast. Wang Meng’s body swayed in the tempest like a fish in water. ’No matter how strong the storm, the river flows on.’
This was the Realm of Water, one of the profundities of the Five Elements.
SCREEEEEECH~~~~~~~~~
With a violent shriek, the Wind Thunder Roaring Python burst out of the abyss. The eye on one of its heads had been pierced and was gushing blood. The Nine Heavens Fire Simurgh’s injuries, however, were clearly more severe. The "roast chicken" had become a drenched one, its flames no longer able to rise.
The Wind Thunder Roaring Python’s four wings were clearly not just for show; they allowed it to command the wind. Its massive body took flight, its tail coiling directly toward the Fire Simurgh. Among demon beasts, the greater the animosity, the more they served as nourishing tonics for one another.
Wang Meng decided to make his move. The Fire Simurgh’s defeat was already sealed; any later, and it really would be nothing more than a roast chicken.
Zhao Lingxuan was truly panicking. Reciting her Sword Formulas, she recalled the flying sword to her hand. The act of pulling it out made the Wind Thunder Roaring Python shudder in pain, and its uninjured thunder head retaliated by blasting a bolt of thunder at Zhao Lingxuan.
Zhao Lingxuan hastily dodged, and a glittering, golden object resembling a jade seal appeared in her hand.
"Fiend, accept your death!"
Reciting a spell, she threw the Jade Dragon Heaven-Flipping Seal into the air. Before it even reached its apex, the jade seal had already grown to the size of a small mountain as it smashed down toward the Wind Thunder Roaring Python.
BOOM...
The Wind Thunder Roaring Python was smashed directly into the abyss. Zhao Lingxuan’s face instantly turned pale, and the Jade Seal returned to its original form. With her level of Elemental Power, she could only use such a powerful Magical Artifact once.
"Little Spirit, hurry, let’s go!"
The Fire Simurgh carried Zhao Lingxuan and flew into the sky. Just as they were about to escape, the abyss exploded. Water arrows shot out in all directions as the Wind Thunder Roaring Python roared and soared into the air, its body slightly deformed from the impact.
One of its heads clamped down on the Fire Simurgh’s leg, brutally yanking it out of the sky. Then, its tail whipped around and coiled tightly around its prey.
Its two heads tilted toward the sky and howled madly, unable to contain their glee. Once it devoured this Fire Simurgh, it could grow a third head and ascend to six wings, allowing it to finally leave this tiny Thunder Pool!
Even as it was bitten, the Fire Simurgh didn’t forget to fling its master dozens of feet away.
Tears of panic streamed from Zhao Lingxuan’s eyes. The Fire Simurgh had been with her since she was a child, closer to her than any friend. She deeply regretted not listening to her master’s advice.
At some unknown point, a small black dot had crawled onto the Fire Simurgh’s body.
Wang Meng pursed his lips. His broken blade swept like the wind across the eyes of the Wind Thunder Roaring Python’s other head.
This was the moment the Wind Thunder Roaring Python was at its most complacent. Having just clashed with the Fire Simurgh and been smashed by a High-Level Spiritual Artifact, it had long since lost the sharpness it possessed at its peak.
The broken blade slid past like the wind, its jagged edge looking exceptionally vicious at that moment.
ROAR~~~~
Wind and thunder erupted. Wang Meng was blown away like a leaf, sliding several yards even after he landed.
CRASH...
The thrashing Wind Thunder Roaring Python snapped all the surrounding trees in its pain. Wang Meng put a hand on his lower back. ’Damn, that thing really packs a punch.’
’My grasp of the Realm is formidable, but it isn’t omnipotent. My Fifth-Layer Elemental Power is barely enough to apply it, and the strength of this Wind Thunder Roaring Python really did exceed my estimates.’
Wang Meng looked up to see Zhao Lingxuan staring at him, dumbfounded, her large eyes welling with tears.
"Hey, kid, stop staring! Hurry up and hit it with that thingy of yours again!"
Zhao Lingxuan sniffled. "I... I don’t have any energy left."
Wang Meng rolled his eyes. ’What’s with these disciples from prominent families nowadays? It’s not about having the strongest Magical Treasure; having the *right* one is what matters.’
As expected of a Spirit Beast, the Fire Simurgh didn’t flee. Instead, taking advantage of the Ming Python’s pain, it used all its strength to peck at the python’s vital spot. This was the instinct of any bird of prey; if it could just break through the scales and rip out the gallbladder, even ten lives wouldn’t be enough for the Wind Thunder Roaring Python.
But this Wind Thunder Roaring Python was truly no ordinary creature. Just as the Fire Simurgh’s beak pierced its scales, its four wings trembled, forcing the peck off-target. The beak carved a massive gash instead, instantly turning the pool of water red.
Having dodged the fatal blow, the Wind Thunder Roaring Python struck with its deadly tail. It smashed solidly into the Fire Simurgh’s body. With a piteous cry, the Fire Simurgh was sent flying seventy or eighty feet, landing motionless on the ground.
In the distance, Zhao Lingxuan was so distraught her tears flowed like a waterfall.
Wang Meng didn’t dare get too close to the frenzied, two-headed Ming Python. ’With my current Elemental Power, a single hit would finish me.’ He yelled, "Hey, kid! You got any more Magical Artifacts? Just throw them out! Are you saving them to take to the grave?!"
At this point, the Wind Thunder Roaring Python was also a spent force. A Magical Treasure with even half the power of that Jade Seal would be enough to finish it off.
"Ah, I remember now!" Zhao Lingxuan hurriedly rummaged through her Qiankun Bag, but her hand suddenly froze. Her large eyes instantly filled with tears again. "I... I forgot it."
Wang Meng was dumbstruck. ’Are you serious??’
’I thought this would be easy, but it looks like I’ll have to do the heavy lifting myself after all.’
The four-winged Ming Python was enraged. With only one good eye left between its two heads, it could barely get its bearings. One head lunged for the Fire Simurgh’s head, while the other went for its tail.
MOOOOOO~~~~~~~~~
THUD... THUD... THUD-THUD-THUD...
A sound like ten thousand stampeding horses grew closer and closer. The Wind Thunder Roaring Python immediately tensed up. Forgetting about the Fire Simurgh, it instantly coiled its tail into a defensive posture.
In the Thunder Pool, the only thing that could make it this wary was that outsider, the Spirit Rhinoceros. Of all the times to show up, it had to be now.
A gigantic golden Spirit Rhinoceros, with Mountain-Overturning Sea-Sweeping momentum, smashed aside all obstacles in its path. Without so much as a glance, it charged directly at the Wind Thunder Roaring Python.
The Wind Thunder Roaring Python was on its last legs. It spat out several thunderbolts that slammed into the golden Spirit Rhinoceros, but they only produced a loud crackle; not a single hair on the rhino was disturbed.
Now *that* was true thunderous might.
SHINK...
The golden horn plunged directly into the Wind Thunder Roaring Python’s abdomen, hoisting it into the air. The python wailed, attempting to coil around the Spirit Rhinoceros, but the moment its tail moved, a golden hoof stomped down on it. With that one step, its body was crushed flat.
The Spirit Rhinoceros’s eyes glinted with disdain. With a sudden jerk, it tore the massive Wind Thunder Roaring Python in two. The golden beast then looked down upon its prey, then turned to the two still-struggling heads. A stomp to the left... SQUISH. A stomp to the right... SQUISH.
Zhao Lingxuan was overjoyed.
But...
After finishing off the Wind Thunder Roaring Python, the Spirit Rhinoceros seemed to have little interest in its kill. Instead, it turned and started walking toward the Fire Simurgh.
